i know that the answer is yes, but it would help me to hear your sentiments on this.
.
after you decided that the wbts, and thus jw's were not god's chosen earthly organization did you feel like you wanted to leave and forget god altogether?.
Wow,
I have enjoyed reading everyone's thoughts on this subject, even those I don't agree with..except Kes. Fanatics of any kind are a big turn off for me, and I personally don't even read your posts! They are anathema to me! [8>]
I too went through a period where I thought the Witnesses must have the truth, and that caused me extreme cognitive dissonance! Then when I really examined the bible with an open and reasoning mind, I failed to see any reason to have faith or even belief in it or its God.
I don't know what power created this earth, or at least set it in motion. And I don't feel the need to have all the answers anymore. No one has any proof that they have the right ones anyway. But I am at peace with the philosophy others have expressed, too. To do good to others, and take responsibility for yourself and your environment. I am currently reading "The Tibetan Book of the Dead", and it is fascinating to explore Eastern philosophies(not religions).I am like an idea sponge right now. I reserve the right to examine any idea for myself and discard it or keep it based on my own powers of reason.
Safe4kids....you go girl...you expressed how I feel very well!
Esther....I'm with you, I think the Apostle Paul was one screwed up woman hater with serious control issues who probably never had a good lay in his life....and I don't care what other translators might say!
And that's all I have to say about that....for now.

i spoke with my mom earlier today on the phone.
it seems that she is discouraged, and her df'd son (me) is the only one who will give her some comfort.. she has been trying to witness to those in nursing homes for many, many years, and runs into all kinds of roadblocks from my dad (an elder) and the congregation, to the nursing home officials.
she honestly and sincerely tries to help these older people.
FreePeace and Farkel,
My heart goes out to you both. Yes it's sad, a tragedy that they have wasted their whole lives dedicated to a lie!
But look at it this way, their suffering will soon be over, and in their minds and heart, they fully expect to wake up in Paradise earth where all of their problems will be magically fixed. For older folks, that's not such a bad way to go. As you say, it is too late for them to see "the truth about the truth". So let them die with their beliefs intact, and let it comfort them as it will. I can only be thankful for myself and for my children that we escaped before we had used up our whole lives in a vain pursuit. I will take whatever positives I can...from wherever I can.
And Farkel, you are not too old that you can't appreciate the freedom you enjoy to think what you want and say what you want! You're never too old for that! You help many people on this board, you are making a valuable contribution to the human race. What more could any man want?

Gilligan's Island will never be the same now....or should we call it Pioneer Island?
You have proven yourself able to play with the big boys

Thinkers Wife,
Thanks for posting it, I hadn't seen it yet.
I only have one thing to say about it.
I think the witnesses deserve to have to deal with a fruitcake like Prince. He came into the borg so screwed up, maybe all their mind f***ing will actually straighten him out!

Stephanus,
Great idea....the next one I see, I'll ask them about it.
Actually, we have them call us on the phone all the time, so I guess they're doing their own version of "phone witnessing?"
