My son is bi-racial. He's a normal, well adjusted and great looking kid.
His mom and I are divorced but our problems were not related to race or culture. I am re-married to someone of the same 'race' although from a different country and culture.

I think the Green Song book was replaced in 1966 so even the pink songbook is nearly 40 years old. I barely remember the green songbook but I'd be interested in seeing one. Even the pink songbook had tunes that were not of Watchtower origin, I wonder what old light was in the green book?

PS I remember the DC in 1966. The one we attended was held in Blackpool, a grotty popular seaside town in England. Even as a 6 year old I was embarrassed to tell my friends that I took two days off school to go to Blackpool, not to vacation but to sit in a stadium till 9 PM every night.

the wts likes to claim that there is no real life outside the borg and those leaving it, that is leaving jehovah, to re enter -gasp- satan's world are unlikely to find any satisfaction or success in life.
yet many ex jws have done much better after leaving the borg in terms of family life, social life, job wise, financially, and educationally, spiritually, and overall adjusted to a much more natural and fulfilling life style.
do you know of such ex jw success stories personal and/or those of others?
Let's see...the biggest difference, I am saving towards my retirement.
As I told my Dad, who thinks I am materialistic, I have a decent job (I enjoy my work) with a good company, live in a modest home (for the area) and the only debt I have is my mortgage.
I am happily (re)married, we have a son (step/son) who is planning to go to college in a year or so and a baby daughter. We attend a local church, do volunteer work and give to a number of charities. My wife's family is wonderful too.
Life is pretty good since leaving Watchtowerland. Of course, in the JW view, Satan looks after his own!

Mrs Thirdson was annoyed that when I pre-ordered at Amazon.com I used my supersaver discount to get free delivery and therefore risked Harry Potter arriving late.
Well, Saturday, we get home at 1:00 pm and in our mailbox a very happy Mrs Thirdson finds her book. She had read it completely by 9:00 pm -- talk about devouring something! She did say she'll read it again this week.

Thanks for the comments. A similar phenomenon occurs when lighting strikes sandy soil. Staphanus’ links apparently show other places where trininite has been found but to say this is a result of ancient nuclear technology is stretching credibility. There have been other natural occurrences in Earth’s history that could account for trininite including meteor or comet collisions, as mentioned.
I think in JW (or from other religious groups) folklore, the findings of this glass in the Middle East or North Africa was transferred to Palestine and then to the sites of Godly displays of power. I am still interested in anyone else knowing about this story.
As for my Dad, he just repeated what he was told, or what he thinks he heard. In the 1960s there was only a presiding overseer and every other male of significance in the congregation was a servant. Dad (a cong’ book study conductor) used to give public talks, but there were plenty of ‘brothers’ giving worse quality talks and talks with references to data from dubious sources. My guess is that he heard this story from another speaker. I should check the WT-CD to see if they are the source of this as well.

This is the first time I have seen mention of these crystals in print. However, it brought back memories of field service with my Dad in the 60s and 70s. On numerous occasions, he told people in FS that archeologists had found crystals at Biblical sites (related to God’s consuming fire on water-drenched altars) that were found only at the sites of atomic explosions.
I never knew where he got his story from and later in life I dismissed the story as pure JW folklore. Now apparently, the crystals really do exist. But what about the rest of my Dad’s story? Where did it originate? Has anyone else heard of trininite found elsewhere? Do other fundamentalist religions tell the same tales?

so it has become habit for me to go out of my way when driving to make sure i can give it the finger as i drive by.
i especially like to do this on the way to one of my favorite bars, especially on meeting nights just so people who knew me can see me do it.
i don't know why, but this has become a tradition of sorts.
