"Junkajehovah" In retrospect--that name has quite a lot of nice alliteration.
The main way my classmates liked to torment me though was by asking me what presents I had gotten for Christmas and what I was going to be for Halloween.

by pobthespazz inespecially if you were raised as a dub like me, well i was called a muslim, holy joe, a jahoodsoon, all seems funny now but torture when you was the only dub in the whole school.

Shunned by the congregation for not performing
by truthseeker inas many of you know, i am a witness who still attends for the sake of my wife.
my meeting attendance has dropped to about 50% and i make maybe 1 hour a month in field service, although i report more than this to keep the elder's off my back.. after several months of this, the result has been noticeable.. those who used to be friendly and greet me no longer do so.
some even avoid me.

I feel so sorry for you. It's just they way they are, though. "Marking" is just a step before reproof and disfellowshipping but it has more or less the same effect--people are afraid to talk to you. If you were raised in the org then you know all this but when it happens to you it is SO painful. I was raised in it too but I was never considered really "good association" since I was way too quiet and shy, didn't comment at the meetings unless I was forced to, and dropped out of the ministry school as a teen. Plus I painted depressing and possibly demonized pictures and wrote untheocratic poetry. I did pioneer one month because my Dad put so much pressure on me, and yes, the difference was amazing. I was suddenly more popular. Then, the presiding elder discovered that about 5 months before I had not turned in any time for field service that month so he came over and told my Dad and me that I was going to have to be dropped from the Pioneer list. They both said "well, you can still put in the hours". Yeah, right. Anyway, my heart goes out to you. Hang in there.

NEARLY 17 YEAR OLD BOY IS MINISTERIAL SERVANT
by minimus inthings must be getting pretty desperate.
i just heard some wonderful news of another boy being appointed a ministerial servant.
the comment was that even though he is young, he is very mature.another person, speaking of a different boy being appointed said that he had the added advantage of being home schooled and that really helped him to mature.

My JW sister called me a while back to gripe about her goof-off inactive husband. She told me that their 17 year-old son was now her "spiritual head". This is patriarchal mind control in its most archaic form. Why don't these idiotic women wake up?

Oh yes, I remember those prayers. I think he was the one giving a closing prayer one time at a circuit assembly. It went on and on and on and my poor little brother was standing right behind a kid who was standing up on his chair and who blew a giant fart about six inches from my brother's face. My brother started crying and I got a horrible case of the giggles. My Dad thumped both of us after the prayer was over. I'm SURE that was Jaracz.

New book pisses active Witnesses off!
by Intuit39 inmy sister just called me at work to let me know that her husband (until recently, unsympathetic to her doubts) is thoroughly confused and pissed off by the new 'worship' book!.
he has been comparing it with the 'united' book, has noted the obvious differences (3 missing chapters), and has begun examining it word for word...now he is raving looney about it.. to top it off, they were at bethel within the last few days, somehow ended up in brother larson's personal office, and were astonished to find a model spanish galleon replete with huge crosses, and a huge portrait of good ol' max towering over the watchtower itself.
she said her husband thought it looked like a propaganda poster for 'big brother'..... finally!

They used to play this fancy orchestral piece at the big conventions. It was also on that stupid tape they made. Anyway, if anyone ever listens to Dvorak's New World Symphony--it's TOTALLY ripped off. I guess since Dvorak's dead, they don't have to worry about getting sued for plagiarism.

Hey SYN, wasn't that book The Shore of Women by Pamela Sargent? If so, the book's thesis was that a truly successful society needs a partnership model rather than a matriarchy or patriarchy.
I'm not a man-hater but I do get tired of hearing about PMS. Here's something I'll bet no one has realized. The reason a woman gets PMS is that because once a month, for a few days only, her estrogen level drops off and testosterone comes to the forefront. In other words, once a month, for a few days, women behave more like men. Men on the other hand, are this way every day of the month!!!!!.
