I don't even see this organization (the Watchtower) as a valid religion anymore. So whatever they are saying is as good as another sales pitch by a telemarketer.

Then is Finished - The Mockery of God
by Farkel inin case you think you've heard it all, have you heard that the wts has made the following claims:.
1. they and other holy angels are god's wife, therefore the wts elite is the "mother" of christ himself.. .
" the wts elite, of course!.

Question for Dubs
by Farkel into this very day, the wts teaches that "babylon the grape" ("the world empire of false religion") "fell" in 1918. that was 86 years ago, yet religion is bigger than ever before in the world, and for the most part it is practiced without any problems or governmental intervention.
it is cults like the dubs which do get government interference in place, mostly because of their blood ban, and their sick and destructive social culture.. where then, and how then, did babylon the grape "fall" in 1918, little dubbies?.

some of the Brothers let their imaginations hope for things at certain dates that the society did not sanction. Such Brothers found that Jehovah did not act when they had expected and were thus disillusioned. Faithful Brothers accepted their dissappointment as their own fault for getting carried away and never blamed the Society for any disappointments.
The society DID came up with the prediction. Read the megazines from late 60s, hon.
According to your reasoning because the trinity is "false", the other religions are false.
Well, since the Watchtower's predictions and actions have proved that they are more than false, I guess the Watchtower Society and the Jehovah's Witnesses are FALSE, too.

Years ago I visited the Bethel. Those Bethelites in the factories didn't seem to be happy at all. At that time our gang thought, "maybe because the work is so hard."

Where's the best place to live?
by Steve Lowry ini don't usually start non-jw threads, but i was wondering about other places to move to.
i live in atlanta and while i love a lot of things about it, sometimes i think about moving on.
i was in south florida for the first thirty-five years and have been here for the last fourteen.

Hmm...I'm not so sure about Canada. They have a weird law about child abuse cases.
If you have plenty of money and a great carreer, come to the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. It's been rated as the best place to live in the U.S.A. for several times. We have diversity, beach and plenty of sunshine. Not to mention cleaner air than Southern CA.
You are in Atlanta? My brother used to live their. In fact I spent my summer vacation in Atlanta for 2 years.
Hey, I understand that Ray Franz is in Atlanta, too.

Emotional Blackmail and ex-JWs
by Lady Lee inbased on a discussion last night and a request to write something about it i went hunting through some old posts and found this one.
emotional blackmail and jws.
we were discussing whether it is emotional abuse when the elders visit us after we have left and wind up being nasty or try to pressure us to go back.. so i was thinking - what are some of their tactics and would they fit into this category?.

I remember the day my pedophile father strolled into the KH where I attended. In days gone by I would be the one that would be uneasy and sometimes leave. But I held my ground and I did not let him make me feel like I was the one in the wrong. After just a few minutes, he left and did not come there again while I was attending.
If you encounter JWs from your past, just be pleasant, let them know you are happy and enjoying life without revealing details. Don't play the game, "we miss you at the meetings"; ask them why they haven't called if that is true.
Remember that you are free now and they are still trapped.
Amen to that, blondie! That's the exact same mental attitude that I have now.

Puternut,
I understand what you are going through. But remember that when you got out of the WTS, you are now beginning the real life. We are here for you. We'll be your family and friends.
Try to set some goals for yourself and your future. And take a baby step at a time. Many friends already have given you some good advices. Are you registered to vote yet? How about that? Do you want Bush to serve another term? What about your local issues? Do you want to meet people and socialize? Oh, please, don't go to a bar. Why don't you visit local churches (only if religion doesn't make you uncomfortable), and volunteer at various places?
I know sometimes things are not just easy. Do you miss your former friends and family? When I was crossing the line of DA, I got so hurt from my mom and other friends, I was rather upset than missed them. Now after 1 1/2 years, I don't miss them at all. If they left me just like that, they weren't worth it. That's what I think. My mom and I are doing much better now. As far as friends, I'm making new good friends.
I picked up a voter registration form the other day. I'll give my two cents on the election day, and support our Governor Arnold Schwaltzneger. I'm not sure if I spelled his name right.

Depends on where you live.
Here in the San Francisco Bay suburban area, a decent 3-bedroom 2-bathroom house starts around $500k. The property tax is about 1.25% of the house price. Here the household income has to be around $80k - $100k per year in order to be "middle class". Apparently there are many small business owners and professionals who make more than that in here. I didn't know we were poor until we started house hunting recently.
Even if I win the lotto (say $20 mill.), I would continue working. Probably not full time, but part time because I love my job.

My husband and I have been house hunting, and I have to tell ya. It's a jungle out there.
It's like a house is a prey, and all the buyers are wild beasts. They all gather as soon as they smell "house for sale," and the real fight begins. Among the beasts, that is. It's bloody and not pretty at all. And the owner of the prey (the seller) enjoys watching it.
Is this happening only in California?
