As many others TAFKAP,was caught by preying on an emotionally charged issue....death of a loved one,, I think after he passes thru the 'honeymoon phase' of JDubdom, like many others,he'll leave....
I dont see how he can reconcile his artistic creativity with Jdubdom.

suspect in alaskan school stabbings ignores judge.

anchorage, alaska, may 8 (reuters) - a man arrested for allegedly slashing the throats of four anchorage children outside their school refused to answer a judge's questions at a court hearing on tuesday, then urged onlookers to kill themselves and their children.

The wts policies unfortunately do implant some really sick thinking, sick ideas are rampant among the r/f.
I've heard this from many,let alone my own mother:
"It's better if so-and so dies now before armageddon,this way they'll have a chance to be resurrected'.........she was referring in this instance to a family member who was severely alcoholic......
I heard variations of this same comment from other JW's....seems that they think if those who can't ,won't change ,or convert are thought better off dead! Now where does this sick mindset come from? And this from supposedly normal everyday JW's? (retch)
And the other posters are spot on, too many times,the sick and dysfunctional are drawn to such messages. And it's not so hard to see that wts thinking can easily tip the balance,if one is mentally off to begin with.

i'm an observant person.

i became that way back in what i call the 'wallflower years' of my life, when i could very easily blend into the woodwork of any room i walked into without anyone looking up.

i became a student of human nature and watched how people interacted, and that study has come in handy at many points.. sometimes, though, i don't realize when i'm opening a can of worms.

Preventive care in mental health?

does this concept apply, and if so do you see professionals playing a role in such preventive care?

given the fact that preventive medicine is now being stressed for physical health, it seems to me it's a question worth considering for the mental health field.

if you think mental health professionals can play a part in preventive care, what form do you think it will take?

Preventative care.....hmm. There is a prob with that in the mh field(from my experience anyway) and that's dealing with managed care policies and insurance coverage.
It's unfortunately all about money.
It's kinda difficult these days to do prevention. Seems like many insurance plans won't cover something until it's at a crisis point,or you can get a medical dx for it.
We call it 'creative coding'......in an attempt to try to help folks.
All medical and psych diagnosis have a code. You cannot get paid/reimbursed without a valid code. Insurance co. often review these diagnosis and may reject the claims.
These ins plans have also limited time that one can do theraputic work---if you look at a lot of the lit. that has been coming out int he mh field,you'll find lots of strategies etc for 'short term' or 'brief' theraputic interventions...it's really become a sad situation.
I agree with larc,thank goodness there is a lot of self help lit. out there(caveat) but be discerning,there's a lot of 'pop' stuff,you wanna sift thru them. Like larc mentioned,it's pretty safe to go with credentialed,well-known in their field authors.....

unanswered,he didn't drop it,his comment about defending defensless ones against fools was a continuation. If he hadn't included that,I never would have mentioned a thing,and let it go.
It's clear that with that nasty self righteous condemnatory comment he made,who is not letting it go. I'm sorry you can't see that for exactly what it is.
Even tho his post was written to essie,that inclusion of his was totally unecessary and quite clear who it was meant for. I think it only fair and equitable that he recieve the same comments you gave me.
So please be fair and advise him to knock it off too.

unanswered,if you read LW's post again,it was clear who he was referencing his 'fools' and other nonsense too. He's said similar about me before. I do have the right to counter such bullshit.
I think he's the one on a sopabox by his constantly inserting that crap in his posts.
As long as he keeps that up,I will counter it. If you were familiar with his past posts,it would have been clear to you too.
I don't think anything negative about you bringing it up.
I think it's totally unfair to make such a comment tho,if you dont see the big picture,but you have the right to your opinion. I have no quarrel with you,regards,Tina

Tact in dealing with those who are leaving

what is the best way to deal with those who are leaving the wts?

no doubt everyone is different - some may feel empowered in a way by finding the truth about the truth, others may have that "shattered faith syndrome.

" tonight i talked to someone who was also dealing with a drug problem along with depression, and i just didn't feel it was the right time to start questioning all the wts doctrine.
