hi everyone, sorry about the title, got your attention though!!.....
my dad is the only jw in my family, i'm not, my 2 brothers aren't and neither is my mum.. my mum was until me and my older brother were about 6 & 7.. me and my brother were until we were 15 & 16.. my little brother was briefly, but escaped in 'the nick of time'.. life is very tough in my house, with my dad stomping around the house, making everyone feel guilty and uncomfortable with every little thing that we do.. we are just trying to get on like a normal family, and all he can do is say negative things about everything we do.. it is impossible to live with him, we have all come to agree.. we have shown him all the evidence we have to show him jw is a cult but he continues to go along with what the wts tell him, although he doesn't go to the meetings, coz he's stressed and not strong enough, mentally.. but there are some things that really annoy me, like the way he watches a tv programme where an animal is being killed, and he says something like 'oh, isn't that awful', and i think 'what about armageddon??????
Hi JW, Sorry to hear of the difficulty you and your family are undergoing. Hopefully ,he can be convinced to see the Doc,maybe get some meds . Also sounds like family counseling(not elders) is needed.(I know, easier said than done)....Wishing you courage and strength,Tina

Hi Tally, And since Sagan's death,NASA has released better raw data, images, that show it's a natural geological formation. Why don't you check out the site i suggested, all the links and data regarding that is available. Just type "Face on Mars' in the search there. regards, tina

Greetings, There is no face on mars, etc. If you check out the Skeptical Inquirer online articles, it debunks that in scientific detail. It also links you to NASA,and other sites that support the debunking of that.No conspiracy here. Tina

i have been lurking around here for quite some time now, posted a few short replies, and engaged in a little chat from time to time.
its almost hard to remember, just a few months back, feeling like i was the only one to live through a jw experience and not be sorry that i am no longer a part of it.
i am very happy to have found this site.. i would like to better introduce myself as i have seen several others do.. i was born in '78 to a fanatical jw mother and an unbelieving alcholic father.
((((((((((((((heff))))))))))))))Hi and welcome! Tina

she and her husband were studied with by larry graham, in california, about 10 years ago, or more.
i asked if she knew anything about prince being a jw, and she said that their son went to visit the grahams in minnesota a year ago, and met prince at their home, and that he had been studying then, for about a year.
No offense, but a lot of us dont care, nver liked his music,I went out tonight and did a verbal poll-they think hes weird =from the git go etc etc ex jw's do hope somebody validates them LOLOL

wherever you are lol....... hope this finds all well :>.
just thought you'd be interested in this little 'aside'.. rocky came up to me yesterday and began telling me about the baha'i faith.....your assistance with his anthro field study aroused interest and curiousity :> .
he was telling me about baha'u'llah,(which i know little about...and other points.. in the years since leaving jw's he would have nothing short of an apoplectic fit at the mention of any belief/philosophy,the hurt/pain was that great.he never wanted to know or hear about anything.. so i see this as a breakthrough of sorts!

So I see this as a breakthrough of sorts! That his anger is diminishing in enough that'll allow himself to explore something of this nature at all! I told him,"isn't it nice to have the freedom to be curious, the freedom to explore all philosophies'? I hoped taking anthropology would open him up as well,I think its also a factor -can't say enuff about education! Maybe he'll try to understand my humanism as well,he never wanted to hear about it,and of course I never push anything on him, knowing it's his journey to find what he needs,((((((carm)))))))muchas gracias

Greetings, Comf said it best! Allow him to have the freedom to his own decisions by staying out of it. Not being a jw yourself,Im kinda surprised that you would think 'ratting' on him is even an option......that's pretty much a JW behavior in these types of situations,,,anyway, just my dos centavos,Tina

Hi wounded heart and all, My heart goes out to those who are/have suffered from this disorder.
I wanted to say I couldn't agree more with the statement,'don't see a jw counselor'.... I can't tell you how many times I've said the same thing!! You are spot on about boundary violatios etc. The whole point about being a therapist(if they got the right training is NEUTRALITY. I can't tell you how many times this was pounded into our heads. If you have a personal bias(as in having the JW slant) therapy cannot be effective. Like waiting stated, they may have the correct credentials, but once they get out into their own practice, that doesn't stop them from operating under their own bias. And actually that is extrememly unethical on their part. Many therapists hold some type of belief/philosophy,but to bring it into the theraputic alliance is one of the most destructive things I could think of. It doesn't allow for honest and open exploration, because it has set limits from the start. And limits not defined by what the patient/client needs. Anyway jumpin off my soapbox here, I wanted to say welcome aboard! Wishing all the continued strength and courage in any ongoing struggle...regards,Tina
