My take on it is, that the WTS change the policy of abuse. Another words, when the elders are informed of abuse, that they report it to their local authorities.

What is the goal of the silentlambs organization?
by kenpodragon ini have followed the silentlambs issue for awhile now.
i saw the special on dateline, and read a few things on newspapers and online links.
i have a question though and wonder if someone could answer it for me, as this was asked to me by someone "outside of the organization" and i did not know.. .

Quotes, I appreciate your 2 cents! =;o)
You would think that it is obvious to my brother and my sister, and you know something, it may be, but they may be afraid to say anything. The shunning policy holds a tight grip on many people. He may be having his doubts, but fear of losing his wife of many years if he expressed anything. I have found that there are alot of people here that continue to go to meetings, keep their mouth shut, but deep down inside disagree with the WTS. I also know of some who feel that it's the best thing out there for them, so they go with it. I've never been known to keep quiet for too long of a period! It's so black and white to me, I just don't see how it's not for others, ya know!
Thanks again for you take on this!

If the Borg should fall....
by home_and_dry inwhat would actually happen to the x-million jws out there?
(this is a rather far fetched scenario, but bear with me!
imagine if one day the borg were to release a letter to each cong in the world to be read simultaneously.

I don't see that happening, but if it did, I would kiss and make-up with my family.

You might be a JW if...
by Fatal Error in1. if your reaction to someone wearing a cross is the same as a vampire's, you might be a jw.
2. if you think demons can reduce their size to fit in jewelry, furniture, books, or into blue smurfs you might be a jw.
3 if you equate the numbers 1 to 5 with hours on a time slip, you might be a jw (just not a very good one)

Silentlambs marchers ... we salute you !
by Simon ini'm sure everyone else is excited about the silentlambs march and hope that all those taking part have a trouble free journey, some good weather for it (that's the 'brit' in me talking) and most of all enjoy meeting up and doing something so positive.
we would love to have been there but unfortunately things didn't work out but we will be there in spirit like a great many others.
the march will really mark a turning point in jw history as for the first time the victims are not just lone voices fighting on their own but thanks largely to bill they now have some fantastic support, are much more organised and effective and have accomplished things and continue to deliver a clear message to the media which is being heard around the world.

Today I called my non j.w. sister. I had sent her the Silentlambs website and some information on it. She said that she discussed it with our elder brother and this was his comment on it...........
He said that this was apostate infromation, that Barbara Anderson was a very smart woman at Bethel, but left because she got mad because she was denied advancment in her position *wanted a man's position*, bla bla bla and that maybe in the past they may have kept incidents of molestations within the congergation quiet, but NOW they report every case of child molestation to the authorities. *even a mention of it*
I asked her if he said that he had dealt with this before and were they ever convitted of a crime. I said that since he had been a elder for 20 years, that surely he had come accross cases such as this. I told her that when my first husband was beating the crap out of me, he and the other elders never once indicated that what he was doing was a crimial act or assault and they never once indicated that the authorities would be or should be contacted if he presisted. That they said that we should pray, forgive, love each other, that I should win him over without a word, not provoke him!!!! I'll admit, I was stupid back then.
I never heard of a child abuse case that was taken to the authorities in the Lebanon Tennessee area, or surrounding area's for that matter. I never heard of an assault case being reported to the authorities either. In my case it was important to the elders that I keep this quiet because of the reproach on Jehovah's name!
Any comments from this? I'm having a hard time processing this one.

Undisfellowshiped, do you know which article that the came out about the woman being raped and not screaming was a form fornication is found???? I've heard that before, but I don't know what publication it is in. I realize that the WTS has come out with some crazy stuff, but that has to be the most insulting, craziest crock of shi* that I have yet to run accross!!! If anyone else know's where this can be found, I should would appreciate it!

Help a lurking dub with doubts
by undercover ini've been lurking about, checking out some of the evidence against the wtbs.
i am currently inactive but still an approved/baptized member.
i have seen all the 1914/607bce evidence; the blood transfusion quandry evidence; the current child abuse problem evidence and several other things that are damning to the wt doctrines.

Personal, for me, it was very difficult to finally realize that the org. wasn't the *truth*, but after educating myself, reading, reading, reading, till the wee-hours in the morning, anything and everything that I could get my hands on, I realized that everything that I had been taught my whole life was false! It's simply a matter of opening your eyes, finding the courage to stand up for what is right and acting upon it. I don't hate the Jehovah's Witnesses, I simple feel alot of people have been mislead. I wish there was something that I could do to make the rest of my j.w. siblins see the WTS for what it really is, but I'm afraid that will probably never be possible. They are in it pretty deep with their own families. I can only hope that they will one day open their eyes. I'm not saying that I have all the answers, but I feel deep down in my heart that the WTS does not hold the answers. Yes it may have been alot eaiser on me if I had stayed in and kept my mouth shut, but my conscience would not and could not allow me to do so.
Seek and you shall find, open your eyes and you shall see! It takes alot of courage to take a stand.
Good luck to you in your search for truth!

How to avoid getting DF'd
by WTLies inas an elder and judge at a judical committee hearing, their main job is supposed to be determining if the person is repentant, not guilty or innocent.
in the jw judicial system the guilt is almost always established prior to the hearing.
they either have two people that saw you commit the sin, or a confession.

Screw them and the horse they road in on! I d.a. myself, told them to leave me alone, they could do whatever they wanted to! I don't need them or anyone else to tell me that I'm deserving of forgivness! It's simple between me and the man upstairs.
