ok, here's my question.
how do you go from being a jw to being a whatever (methodist, lutheran, etc.
) i've been invited to go to many churches with friends, but, i have no desire to ever set foot in any church.
Utopian, yeap, I lost my mind a LONG time ago, if you find it, let me know! =;o)
I wish it was that simple for me. I guess I still have that feeling deep inside that I have to be apart of a group. Could it be that simple? To simply have a relationship with God, to ask for his graces and recieve it?
can someone please tell me the beliefs of j w?
do they believe that jesus died on the cross and shed his blood for us?
do they believe that through jesus christ we shall be saved?
Undisfellowshipped, I read until I HAD TO STOP, I GOT SO MAD!!! *shaking head* I swear to gawd, who in the hell thinks up this crap!!! *and I'm putting it nicely*

last week there was an f3 tornado that occurred in the vicinity of my brother's home in bloomington, indiana.
all weekend long and for the first part of this week i have waited to see if anyone would call and let me know they are okay.
last month my 18 year old niece died in a car accident in bloomington.
Swan, I'm so sorry to hear about your niece. Your post show's what a good person you are and that you have a good heart. I think if we act on what they would do, we wouldn't make that call, but I tend to agree with others here. I would call. Never let anyone or anything stop you from having the good heart that you have. Let us know how your phone call went and how you are doing, k?

as an elder and judge at a judical committee hearing, their main job is supposed to be determining if the person is repentant, not guilty or innocent.
in the jw judicial system the guilt is almost always established prior to the hearing.
they either have two people that saw you commit the sin, or a confession.
Mary, you're so bad!!! =;o)
Don't you know, they like details!!! lol

Hey Donna, could you quote what it say's in Matt.? I threw away my New World Translation bible. I guess I need to get a bible, ya think! I went to chruch for the first time last week. My neighbors invited me to their chruch, they were having a special service for the anniversary of 9-11. It really made me feel like I was missing something. I want so bad to have a relationship with God and worship, but like many here, I don't know where to start. Sometimes I feel lost in that department.

interesting article on yahoo news today that suggests repressing your emotions may be healthier than venting them.
i have my doubts about this, but here's the article below that i found at: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&cid=570&ncid=753&e=1&u=/nm/20020924/sc_nm/health_stress_dc
stressed out?
I agree that reliving a truma over and over again would not be healthy, but I feel it is healthy to get it out of your system and then move on.
While I was in counceling over my father's suicide, I was told it was healthy to deal with it. Not to dweal on it forever, but deal with the grief and move on. They called it grief work. I experienced alot of different emotions, one minute I was sad, then angry. I found that by working through them, I was able to work past them. They also told me that I could deal with it now, or deal with it later, one way or another, it would sufface in some way. For me I have moved on and I found talking about it beneficial. People deal with things differently, what works for one person, may not necessarily work for another.
john corrill here from the ex-mormon board.
i've found your forum interesting.
mormons and ex-mormons struggle with many of the same things jw's do.
Welcome John!
Being raised a J.W. I'm not really familiar with many of the morman's beliefs, but I think one of them was the thing about coffee. I'm glad we didn't have that rule!!! =;o) I'd be lost without my coffee in the morning!
Just curious though, did the mormons have the same policy as the J.W.'s on shunning?
Again Welcome!
