Just lost our parents....
by 2escaped lifers inwell, the shunning begins.
we finally had "the" discussion with my parents, that we no longer consider ourselves jw's, and a little bit of why we felt that way.
of course, "dad the elder and po" and mom the pioneer dutifully informed us that not only will they be "loyal to the organization" and shun us completely, but that he would immediately let the other elders know, so that proper judicial action could be taken.. it was a heart wrenching discussion, with all of us, including my two young boys (9 and 10) all balling our eyes out.

Brandon, just read your post. I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through this. I wish that I had had this forum back years ago when I went through the same thing. My father started studying *again* and he told me basically that he would shun me like mother did. I didn't have contact with them for almost 13 years. I wish I had the knowledge then that I have now. Sometimes we have to give ourselves what we didn't get from them. So take care of yourself, love yourself, don't let their unfortunate attitudes effect the way you feel about yourself. I still have j.w. siblins that shun me. It's tough, but they truly believe that they are doing the right thing. It's sad and it hurts. It's emotional blackmail. Just let them know that your heart will always be open to them. Hang in there and know that you have people here that care about you and that we are here for you.
((((((big hugs)))))

My mommy is dying.... :(
by outnfree ini'm off to new york this morning.
i'm fortunate that my oldest daughter will drive with me, missing class to support her mom and possibly to say a final farewell to her grandma.. my mother has has two strokes this year, and, after the first one in may, told me that she felt like she was dying from the inside out.
she had another stroke at the end of august, and was eventually put in a nursing home.

Can We Give Words of Support To Simon For This Forum???
by minimus inwe go through cycles every so often here.
we get new posters every week and at times we lose some posters.
when most "newbies" find this site, they are thrilled to be able to express themselves in a way that they could never in a kingdom hall.
