The Annual Meeting Quote
by confusedandalone insomeone told me today that at the annual meeting something was said along the lines that, we do not need to be like the boreans and search that everything is true because we know we have the truth.
can anyone confirm this?.

What I recall was the comment from Gerrit Lösch when he said we don't need to test the faith itself, we should test ourselves to be sure that we are in the truth.

When you see the bible in action and in real life. It leaves you with a different taste, doesn't it? These are the things in the bible that shows how God cannot be real and if he is, then he is no better than Hitler.

Question to atheists: if there is no creator/god---
by prologos inif you are sure there is no god, do you then believe that we,our minds, are the highest intelligence?
not just of the universe, but the cosmos?.

An atheist is unconvinced by the grandiose claims of theism, bored by the irrelevance of deism and can't understand why agnostics think "I haven't decided yet" deserves a label.
Why can't you understand agnostics haven't decided yet? I am sure you did not wake up overnight and say I don't belive in God anymore

How Many Circuit Overseers And District Overseers Really Believe The Governing Body Is Really The Faithful and Discreet Slave and That The Watchtower Is God's Earthly Organization?
by frankiespeakin ini'm thinking around 20% have serious doubts and 99% have some doubts but keep them from becoming conscious to avoid cognitive dissonance.
this is becoming increasingly harder to do over the fact that the governing body are showing their true colors and the contridictions are so great..

It has to be small percentage, but the few that wake up know what the price is for speaking out. I am sure that 100% of the DO's and CO's have doubts and simply handle it by applying faith as the fix for everything.

Starting from a false Premise.
by Phizzy inwe often see "starting from a false premise" enacted on here.
believers will start from the basis that there is a god.. bible believers will start from the basis that it is the word of god in some measure, and worse are jw apologists, they pre-suppose that the first two are a given, and that their beloved property company posing as a religion is god's organization.. none of those premises have been proven, some have been disproven, but we are supposed to go along with them.. now, you may be happy to debate on that basis, in fact it is probably good "exercise", but in the end i find their arrogant, unproven assertions begin to really annoy me, and then i stick in what is known on here as a "cofty", which is a short, succinct comment that points out the big hole in their presentation.. the only thing you find then is, either the apologist cuts and runs, or totally ignores your "cofty".. i think, even if we enjoy debating for a while with such people, at a certain point we need to call them out on their false premise, or premises, otherwise a j.w lurking here may simply accept the words of the apologist and gain nothing in the way of truth..

The question is, what will you do with the evidence in front of you?

We all have the same evidence in front of us, we have the same sacred writings, we have to same earth, the same universe, the same fossils, etc... The difference is the way we view such evidence and how sometimes we are not willing to accept the evidence in front of us, for example the same technology and understanding we use to authenticate writings from antiquity is good. But when we use the same technology and find the earth is not 6,000 years old, that we did not have a global flood, that the account of Genesis cannot be true, the theist will simply dismiss it as inconclusive and faulty technology. Ironic isn't it?
