persuading countless generations that it is a virtue to believe incredible things on insufficient evidence, is one of religion's cleverest tricks.. the more incredible the claim; the more flimsy the evidence; the stronger the belief; the greater the virtue.. this is the exact opposite of how we operate in every other aspect of our lives.. rational people must demand objective evidence for everything they are asked to believe.

"extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence".. leaving the dogmatic claims of the watchtower is only a first step.

My waking up to TTATT was gradual and still held a belief in God and Jesus, etc… but then I asked myself the question, Is it really Jesus calling me out of the WT?

The proof that I saw in front of me, was that I was the one using my own critical thinking and no outside entity was guiding me in a special way. When you slow down and think more carefully and your honest about the meaning of you are reading, critical thinking kicks in and out with the Faith!

How much longer for the congregation book (sorry bible) study?

after the recent decision to ditch the cbs during the circuit visit, i've started wondering if it is the first step to losing it altogether.

at the current rate, the draw close book will be finished at the end of next year.

based on the way things are going, even the most recent publications will be out of date by then (acts book and organization brochure were out of date when studied) so what is the point of doing them.

What is the key to free yourself from the Organization?

they key to free yourself from the organization is having mental clarity of what is happening in relation to the watchtower, inside and out.

their basic concept is that they are god's sole organization on earth.

there really is no basis for anyone to make that statement.

you maintained a level of personal decency and integrity that you almost certainly would not have had if you had chosen another direction.. sure, you would have had some very "colorful" friends and experiences if you had gone another way, but you still chose the more "edgy" people in the congregation as your friends and you still enjoyed yourself, even if there were a lot of phony constraints.. you looked for ways to be of value to others.

don't stop doing that!.

you kept the darker side of your personality in check.

I have my good memories of growing in the borg but I also have memories of pain, lack of love, self-righteousness, distrust towards me, and feelings of wanting to die. To me the bad things overshadow the good few moments.
