I remember meeting Noumear when he was serving at Bethel in Nairobi, Kenya, in the mid 80s.

This film be shown on major cinemas in Norway as one of the Christmas movies... I am going to see it with my aunt and two cousins... Apart from that I will host a DVD-showing at home with some of my colleagues at work. I am looking forward to hearing their views of the film. the first time I saw it, I saw it with several ex-witnesses and their partners. We were very absorbed and touched by the movies. An ex-witness brother was used as a consultant for the film, explaining the accuracy in language, clothing, and the general depitiction of JW life. (In Denmark, bears are allowed)...

Why aren't JW's exposed in the news on 60 Minutes?
by BonaFide ini know we had the dateline show a few years ago, but what about recently?.
seems to me that with about a million members in the us, and all the strange policies like blood transfusions, informing authorities re child molestation, disfellowshipping, that it would be a big story.
especially with so many witnesses that are depressed, or suicidal, or with the broken marriages, or children that die or those that are shunned.

I remember the Watchtower had a frontpage article once dealing with 60 minutes or a similar programme. And I remember thinking that the coverage on the witnesses in that particular programme did not seem that bad at all. At the same time, the witnesses were facing a crusade of bad publicity in a northern european country, in all networks, radio, newspapers etc... And the policy of the watchtower was most of the time "no comments"... At the end the coordinator had to appear on national television (on the news) and he made a bad figure, he was caught in lying and that was the major news the next day. No mention of that in the yearbook....

Me and three other elders (I have DA, the others rermain JWs) did write a concerned letter on the article in the Watchtower on suppressed memories and child abuse, an article which many in the congregation found upsetting. We did not get any reply, althoug it was written in a very humble, yet forceful way... We all signed with our full names of course...

Would like to compliment and commend both candidates on being a class act
by StoneWall ini generally don't have much to say on the polical field.. as i mentioned on a previous thread i thought either candidate would be a much better choice than what we've been thru the last eight years here in u.s.a.. with that said i must say i really appreciated how fast mccain got to the concession speech and didn't wait till hours on end hoping for a recount or a error on ballot counting etc.
he showed total class in my opinion and handled the speech admiringly.. .
now to obama.

In a brochure produced in Germany in their process of being recognized as a "church" in line with the major ones, a sister was featured who had been awarded with a cross of honor for her humanitarian efforts in her community.... This as a showpiece to show that witnesses contribute to society.. (To be honest, I think quite a few in her congregation might have critized her for being too involved in non-witness related activities, but it was in order to boost the witness image in that particular campaign.)

I read a study about the WTS-Growth
by JWdaughter inand it said that based on their growth and such, that in 20 years(or by 2020) there would be 28 million jws.
any sign of imminent, widespread persecution that you all have noticed?
i keep hearing about kh's being built and remodeled, and how huge their conventions are.

E.g. in Norway, there are roughly 10,200 JWs reporting. However, according to official statistics, there are close to 15,000 witnesses. This is because children of witnesses are also included. In Norway, JWs along with all other registered faith groups, receive governmental support, that is a specific sum based on the number of adherents. If the witnesses had not been registered, the share of the JWs had gone in the main pot, instead tax money is re-cycled into their own group. It amounts to some 700-800,000 a year, I have read.... Correct me someone, if I am wrong.
