"The Beverly Hillbillies" was on when I was just a kid, so my memories are vague. However, in reruns this show has a charm all its own. I never realized until I saw an E! True Hollywood Story sometime back about the show. This show is one of the most popular in history. As a matter of fact, until a few years ago, several of the shows were in the "most watched ever"category. (This had to be before "Who Shot J.R.?") Some of the one-liners are silly at best, but I can still laugh at them. Buddy and Donna Douglas seemed to have enjoyed their roles, but Max Baer hated being remembered as Jethro. He seems to be embracing it again, I think he's trying to get some kind of "BH" themed casino going somewhere...maybe Reno?

Mary,
I am sorry about your situation. It seems the JW's only want to use the court system to further their profiteering...when it comes to personal issues, the "don't sue a brother" phrase always comes up. I think the Jehovah's Witnesses should also be known (among other things) as Jehovah's Wusses.

I've heard stories about JW business partnerships, both good and bad. It seemed the bad relationships happened because these people were natural jerks and any business relationship would end badly. I have heard working with another JW, especially in a supervisory position, can send the subordinate JW's to a doctor for treatment of ulcers.

There was a show about this over the weekend (think it was the Discovery Channel?) about some volunteers in Chicago in a highly controlled setting, including being videotaped and monitored by medical personnel. One particular woman faced possible alcohol poisioning because of the amount of drinks she had. They were monitored by a nurse in their hotel room periodically. One guy even left his hotel room and went out and had more AFTER having 15/16 drinks. The best solution to a hangover is not coffee or a cold shower. Sleeping it off and heaving (in some cases) seems to be the way the body handles it.

All the Hollywood greats dying off pretty quickly it seems...

The high mayor of a French town hates JW's
by Mulan inmy brother visited us today, and told us an interesting experience he had last week in france.
he was in the netherlands on business, and they went to france for a few days to visit friends of one of his business contacts, who was the high mayor of a french town, i cannot pronounce, or remember.
one evening this man began to rant and rave about the jehovah's witnesses in his town and how much he hates them.

I remember when I was in France in the late 80's, I boldly told my pen pal from high school days about my religion and even offered her a Paradise book in French (wasn't I prepared.) She sort of looked at me and mumbled in French, the best I could translate "What have you gotten yourself into..."

Is there life on other planets?
by JH indo you believe that there is life right now on other planets?
how can we be alone since the universe is endless?
if god does exist, why did he create all of that, if man will never go there?

I'd like to think so, probably the reason why one of my favorite movies is "Contact."

Faster than you could say, “He’s kissed me, should I go buy a Brides Magazine?”, David got in his car and sped out of the parking lot. Hilary picked up her book bag that had fallen to the ground in her moment of passion and got into her car. Her thoughts were again consumed by HIM. Since Hilary was really a novice at dating, she called her friend Annie, who by her own admission, had been on more dates than in the produce section. “Annie, he finally asked me out…can you believe it? I’ve been smiling and giggling at all the right moments, even when his jokes weren’t funny. We’ve been service dating for a few weeks now, and now he got the nerve to ask me out…” Annie replied “Well Miss Hil, I am definitely happy for you. A. Because it’s hard to find a fellow that cute anyway and B., perhaps now you can get out of your Saturday night dates with that Watchtower study.” “Now, where are you guys going?” Hilary didn’t have the details for her yet, but Annie seemed content with the “I don’t know” answer. “What are you going to wear…you know this it’d be the time to wear that push-up bra of yours…” Hilary then kind of wondered off into space again. She was thinking about when how to impress David. Obviously she impressed him enough to get him firmed up in that certain spot…”
