Yes, step mom to a 13 year old boy. I got him at 7, so we've trained each other - lol. Bio mom is a looney tune, however I stay as far away as possible from her. I have no respect for her as a person, for myriads of reasons. I try not to say anything negative in front of my stepson - just hurts him in the long run.

Stupid places to leave magazines & tracts
by Nosferatu inwhat were some of the stupidest places either you or another jw have left tracts or magazines, hoping someone will find it and want a bible study?
-
TresHappy
I know people left them in the oddest places. One woman I know left the magazines in a local doctor's office. He came UNGLUED when he saw the magazines and wrote a long letter the Society. We were admonished "to get the doctor's permission" before leaving them. Other than the usual laundrymat or phone booth, I don't remember leaving them anywhere bizarre. I know some pioneers used to drive all over town and count time so they could get their time in by leaving magazines at various places. I look back at that and wonder "WHY DID I DO THIS STUPID STUFF?"

Bizarro things the person with whom you studied told you
by berylblue in"traditionally, women in japan were to walk 10 paces behind a man.
that is much more appropriate than what is going on here, what with women thinking they are men's equals.".
(this from a 24 year old female pioneer)

This from the mouth of an 18 year old pioneer sister who turned down a 4 year scholarship in order to pioneer: "Well, even if you were raped and got pregnant, it wouldn't be good to give the child up for adoption. What if the family you gave the baby to became apostate?"

Gordon Jump of 'WKRP' and Maytag Ad Dies
by Xandria inlos angeles - gordon jump, who played a befuddled radio station manager on the sitcom "wkrp in cincinnati" and made his mark in commercials as the lonely maytag repairman, died monday.
jump suffered from pulmonary fibrosis, said his cousin, katherine jump wagner.
the illness causes scarring of the air sacs of the lungs, leading to heart or respiratory failure.

WKRP - I loved that show when it was on the first time around. Gordon Jump did a great job playing the station manager. Sorry to hear he passed away.

Cruzan,
WFAA did a morning story this morning regarding the Dallas Greek Festival. The children were dressed in full traditional costume and giggling as the Why Guy talked to them. The children were adorable. Have a great time!

What search engine do you most often use and why?
by berylblue invery curious...there's a reason for this question.
does anyone perceive if there is a proclivity toward a certain engine if one is, say, computer savvy?
college grad?

I always remember to laugh when I use a search engine, therefore I can say I giggle when I google.

If you wanted to be cremated after your death...
by FancyPants in.
but could foresee the future and saw that your body was thrown into the woods to rot, would it bother you?
-
TresHappy
Definitely cremated and my cremains put in a niche. When I visited Lucille Ball's grave, that's what she had done. I understand her remains were moved to the family plot in Jamestown, New York in 2002.

Paradise Hotel - I only caught a few minutes one night. Words can't even begin to describe it. I don't think there are any.
BB4 - You know Allison and Jun made racial slurs against Robert when he was out of earshot. The live 24 feed gives you the real cruelty of this game. And that what's it is, cruelty. The heavily edited version is nothing more than the unreality that it is. I read this guy's website, www.tvgameshows.net. He calls them "game operas." I think that describes these kinds of shows perfectly.
There are so many people willing to do anything to get on TV and be "famous." I think Brad Paisley's "Celebrity" also describes it perfectly.
