  AGuest, thank you for your expanded explanation of your being a slave of Christ. The confusion centers on the understanding of the word slave. You choose to follow Christ but are free to leave if you choose.

  Slavery involves the loss of the freedom to choose to stay or leave. That is the privilege of servants or those that have won their freedom. To follow Christ is understandable but to be a slave of Christ infers a lack of choice.

  Being a king or a priest of Christ could appeal to appeal to my ego but the idea of slavery scares me. I guess I am just made of the wrong stuff.

  Tammy, what you say has some merit. But by that standard anyone who 'chooses' to serve Christ is a servant, not a slave.

  Are you a TRUE Christian?!?

  i've been thinking alot over the past few days on what makes a christian a christian, and i'm coming to some different conclusions than i ever have.... the watchtower likes to use the term "true believers" or "true christians".

  i'm at a loss here lately.

  you are either an atheist or you are not.

  It's difficult to say what a true Christian is because the goal posts keep moving - they are getting closer and closer together.

  Soon anyone who can manage to force the ball between the posts using both hands and feet will be allowed to shout 'goal'. Jesus will have told them what to shout, of course.

  Freeing the mind from bondage and exploring a spiritual approach to life seems a sensible and beneficial approach to so much that is as yet unknown.

  Becoming a slave belonging to anyone, including Christ, seems to me about as close to freedom as being chained to a wall.

  Hey my prayer yesterday worked. I was calm, content and happy and achieved more that I expect to.

  In the evening, I heard a voice in my head telling me to get a glass of wine. I did as instructed and felt even better. This prayer thing could catch on.

  Today I'm going to pray for a Sunday roast and see if god works through my wife in his mysterious way and answers my prayer again.

  Prayer really does work. It is a form of self-hypnosis or auto-hypnosis. The power of positive thinking and all that Jazz.

  Just sit quietly and tell yourself that today you are going to be calm, content and happy. You will achieve more that you expect at an emotional or practical level.

  You will be helped by an invisible force. That will be your sub-conscious mind but if you want to give the credit to your god, that will work just as well.

  Tell yourself again that, today you are going to be calm, content and happy. You will achieve more that you expect at an emotional or practical level.

  Now say out loud - Today I am going to be calm, content and happy. I will achieve more that I expect at an emotional or practical level.

  What is your definition of a "Fundi" or a Fundamentalist?

  i've been called a "fundi" many times in my discussions with people on the board, and i'd like to know what your definition is of a "fundi".

  don't google it.

  i just want to hear your personal definition.. i find it interesting because i don't go to any church.

  A "Fundi" or a Fundamentalist is a die hard, narrow-minded, set in his ways, hard on the outside and hard in the middle, delusional, brainwashed, bigoted, screwed up, self serving, heartless, mono-tropic son of a bitch. ( The same applies to the female of this species)

  If We All Are Kings - Who Would We Rule Over?

  this is the reasoning of jw's that embolden them to disobey jesus' offer to be his disciple and to take part in the new covenant for the forgiveness of sins.. so who are the earthly inhabitants of the kingdom in the christian view?.

  the second coming of christ.. 25:31 - jesus then says the kingdom would begin when christ comes with all his angels.

  25:32-46 - the judgment of the people of all nations.

  Perry You should not worry yourself over such matters. Jesus will take care the kings in 'due time.' Trying to find answers in an errant bible is not the way forward. Jesus will talk to us through his appointed posters, on this very forum, and inform us of the theocratic arrangement that God has in store for us.

  Before you point out that I don't believe in Jesus, I would like to say that I shall believe in him just as soon as he talks to me.

  Of serious concern

  sometimes i am proud that i was able to break the bonds that held me in the watchtower bubble for so long.

  lately though, i've been wondering if i have merely traded the borders the watchtower circled around me with some other nonsensical set of rules.. my home, redding ca, is a center piece of a four way intersection of highways and freeways.

  many of them go through the mountains and forests and can be extremely dangerous.

  This is a contradictory statement that attempts to be factual and clever but falls short.

  Evasion of reality is a trick of the mind. We can never evade reality. If we are careful we may live a full life without a single accident. That would be our reality. We may escape the anticipated consequences of our actions but that does not mean we have evaded reality. We have simply beaten the odds.

  Sorry to be pedantic but it satisfies my overactive little brain.
