so...this years memorial came and went.. on saturday my mom called to invite my wife, myself and my two little girls to the memorial on sunday, i said thank you but said that we won't be going.. on sunday my older sister called inviting us also.. we didn't go, since my eldest daughter asked about it, i explaine dit to her and asked my wife and her if they wanted to do it at home and they said yes.. so after dinner, we all partook of our lord's sacrifice and i explained to my daughters how the taking in of christ's body and blood is symbolic for become one with christ and god.. we always remember christ and his sacrifice and last meal whenever we eat and "say grace" but, becuase of the whoel memorial meal thing, we decided to do a little more.. i read from luke and john.. it was very nice, very special.. then this morning at 8:30 am my mom calls and reams me for 40 min over the phone.. why anyone would think that i or anyone else would want to be a part of an organization that fills people with som much venom and spit, is beyond me.. she basically said that she gives up on me, that i am taken by satan, that satan is working through me and leading me and tha her heart is borken for my little girls.. my mother.... my heart is broken, there is a pain in my gut....
The thing is, your mom is worried about you dying at Armageddon. If you were and atheist, that would be bad enough. But as a Christian you have found an alternative faith. She can’t offer you hope, because you already have your own hope. So her fear and sense of frustration manifests as anger and criticism.
That is how she shows her love, in the hope that her opposition to your decision to not be a JW will change your mind. She loves you and is afraid of losing you.

there may be or may not be a god.. there is definately a universe.. the universe may have been created by god or may have come into existance of it's own accord.. neither the universe nor god can come into existance at a particular point in time as there was no time prior to the universe - it didn't exist.. only at the universe's creation did time begin therefore god never existed for a certain amount of time prior to it.. my conclusion is that god is the universe or the universe has always existed along with god?.

basic theme was an extra terestrial energy life transmogrified into a human and impregnated a woman with a seed that would become the savior of humanity.. hollywood is an old hand at using good v evil sort of messages that have ideoligical ties to the bible and the 'need' for mankind to be saved from themselves.. what gets me about this particular film is that the savior to come was there for all humanity.
no conditions were placed on how many from what nations could benefit, nor was salvation only for those who 'believed' or were smart enough to read visions or hidden messages etc.
You can't just go around forgiving people - that's a Christian thing. The God of the bible was a Jew and insisted on circumcision, the 10 commandments and all that jazz. You got to admit that despite all his faults - he is to die for!

Some good points.
The difficulty arises when we try to nail god down and explain ‘god’ in human terms, as per bible and other holy books. I don’t see 'god' as person. The word ‘god’ has so many negative connotations attached to it that it needs replacing.
The universe is manifest. Before it existed it was un-manifest but the potential for it to be existed. Although as humans, only what is physical is real to us. Potential is not nothing in a universe where all that can exist is contained in it, potential becomes a factor. I see ‘god’ as the un-manifest potential from which the universe has emanated.
This is how I see things but I am willing to be straightened out by greater minds.

We each have to settle upon our own view of things and find peace in our choice. How those close to us behave is their choice. It is a two way thing. However painful it is to accept the choices our loved ones make, freedom has a price. No price is too high.

getting through the tough steps toward real freedom from the wts involves a lot of work for some.
many, start out angry that their authentic lives were hampered by a high-control group of men posing as god's organization.
we feel robbed of something we can't quite put our finger on sometimes.
An interesting question - one which I have answered a number of times on this board. My anger turned to pity but that emotion has also passed. We are each ultimately responsible for the views and attitudes we sustain for the long term.

Good to hear from you Coffee House Girl, and know that things are working out for you. We all have an inner voice that guides us, often through feelings. We have our inborn instincts but also instincts based on what we have absorbed through our experience. Our inner voice becomes more reliable if we have taken in correct information.
