RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!!!!
by Julia Orwell inthat's how i feel when i see these crazy new wt study articles and the inane reasoning contained therein, and the indoctrination machines of meetings run by all those little hardened human cogs and the unending stream of propaganda we're pitched up against.
.. you could spend all your time working through those wt articles (see cedar's post on the latest 'new light') and refuting the stupidity, and yet most witnesses aren't even concerned with changes to the fds or 144 000 because like all of humanity they're too busy trying to scratch a living as it is.
such airy doctrine changes don't have any effect on their day to day lives and is thus irrelevant.

Allow yourself to take a break!
Quit answering questions, answering the door, answering the phone. Quit posting on Facebook. Stay away from the hall for a month. Read something positive. And take care of yourself - eat right, get plenty of rest, exercise a bit every day. This is an emotionally difficult process. In order to be successful you must proceed with care - one step at a time.
If you continue to freak out, you are giving your power over to the belief system - particularly the local elders. You don't have the power to change the world. You only have the power to change YOU...

100 Years of Disappointment on the Horizon
by mrquik ineven as an elder, i had doubts as to this being "the one true religion".
i personally had chosen 2014 as one of those "make or break" dates.
fortunately, i left years ago.

I've been dropping this question from time to time: If Jesus began ruling as king in heaven in 1914, are we now 100 years into his 1000 year reign?
After puzzled looks followed by um's and coughing...nobody has a consistant answer. If they pull an answer out of their "back pocket", I ask them to show me that in the bible....

New light Watchtower magazine leaked from organization weeks ahead of general release
by cedars inhttp://jwsurvey.org/governing-body-2/new-light-watchtower-magazine-leaked-from-organization-weeks-ahead-of-general-release.
if doctrinal explanations are missing from the article, it is because they are also missing from the magazine.. i would like to give my thanks again to my source for supplying me with the magazine article weeks ahead of its scheduled release.
it showed remarkable courage, because risks were taken.

Konceptual and The Quiet One : I wouldn't have believed it either if I hadn't heard it with my own ears. A couple of years ago I wouldn't have heard it (like most in the audience I suspect) because I would of been nodding off or thinking about getting out of the parking lot asap. It's amazing - if you are still "in" - what you will hear and read if you pay attention (scrutinizing) to the spoutings from the platform, website and printed page.
I've thought more about this new "idea" of the F&DS. I remember always that the Governing Body represented the larger F&DS "class." Now it seems that the GB or F&DS has decided that they represent Jesus - for all humanity - but most importantly to maximize their authority over Jehovah's Witnesses - young and old.

WTS action on Conti's case 3/27/2013
by mind blown inas most suspected, the wts filed their brief, at least it looks that way..... http://appellatecases.courtinfo.ca.gov/search/case/dockets.cfm?dist=1&doc_id=2025979&doc_no=a136641.
it also notes aob in excess of word count limit.. wonder if they did that to buy more time?.

If I understand the appeals process, the appeal is not for a retrial but to argue through the "brief" that a legal error has been made. The Court of Appeal (a panel of judges...I think) can determine if an error occurred. They make this judgement after careful review of both the appellant's and appellee's briefs. The judge(s) have the option of setting up a time for oral arguments as well.
At this point it's a situation of who presents the best argument - was there a legal error(s) during the civil trial that led to the judgement against the WT Society. Or, should the lower court's judgement stand.
Am I correct? And is this the process in California?

Thanks for the link DNCall .
As we've read in recent BOE letters/directives regarding charges of sexual abuse, the WT corp is primarily interested in the ramifications of the potential financial loss, divisions in a congregation and negative public perception because of lawsuits. They want to keep any damage to a minimum. And, they are not concerned with any form of victim support or therapy.
The WT Society does NOT want to drop this - and they've hired some big guns for the appeal.

WT has hired attorney Robert Schnack to handle the appeal. He is a partner with Jackson Lewis LLP. This company is a major, national law firm that represents corporate clients in cases of workplace law. They represent the management. Their website says that Schnack has "extensive litigation experience in the defense of national religious entities in clergy abuse claims."
This show ain't over...

Thank you Cedars! I've been looking forward to your synopsis...and it was worth the wait. The person who forwarded this article took a huge risk. I'm sure the private questioning sessions (Ray Franz style) have begun at "headquarters."
I agree that most publishers will accept this new understanding without question. Many are "born in" second and third generation JW's who have no historical perspective of their religion. Some will question this "idea" privately to themselves. Some will find a new reason to be anxious and unnerved.
During our recent circuit assembly, the District Overseer stated in his concluding talk that we don't know the day or the hour when the Great Trib will begin. It could be "tomorrow or next week. It may not be this year or in this decade or even in this century." You would think a statement like that would send shockwaves through the auditorium.... nope.

Being raised as a JW caused me (and I think a lot of other folks here) to make decisions about life and act on those decisions because of external pressure. This external pressure becomes internalized and produces guilt. I've been fading (on the outside) for about a year. And during the process of realization (TTATT) I've made a concerted effort to extract the guilt and deflect the pressure.
JW thinking is "group think" - you must think like me, act like me, feel like me. We would patronize any person, group or organization that wasn't like "us".
Some who have left the WT continue to think like a JW.
I've chosen my own path. I will exit fully in my own way, in my own time.

Going to the meeting tonight ARGH!!!! So wanna end this pain NOW!
by Julia Orwell ini'm only going to the meeting because of my husband!
i was 'in' solo for years while living with my unbelieving family and i know how it feels to be the only one in your house going to the meeting.
i also respect my husband's decision, and know what it's like to have family try to tear down your beliefs.

Hang in there Julia! Remember that the WT and it's local congregation managers love to get in the middle of marriages. Don't give them the power. Bide your time. Be patient. Don't do anything rash. Perhaps you could begin to plan an outing for this Sunday or a weekend trip. Then you and your husband can spend time together instead of with the "friends" at the hall. It's a very positive way solidify your marriage and gives the opportunity to just be a couple & to talk honestly.
