So, it looks like the new date is 2034 to be the deadline of ARMAGEDDON!! 1914+120. After that, most of the people who believed the generation thing will have died and that part of the cult won't matter anymore. They do have a good system ya know. Make your predictions of the end 50 years apart and each generation won't really remember/care that the previous prediction failed.

My Becoming a JW
by Juliana ini was raised non-religious.
i don't call myself an atheist as such because i don't like to label anyone, but i don't actually believe in god (though i am christian in background, and several branches of family family are roman catholic).
my fiance knows this.

They won't let you be a JW unless you say you believe the things you currently don't. to be a JW you must:
1. Believe in God.
2. Believe the JW org is the only right religion.
3. Believe the Bible is the unfallable word of God.
If you pretend to believe this just to go along with your mate (as I did) it will only result in a very stressful life till you reach the breaking point. It isn't about love. I loved my ex-wife with all my heart, but once I told her what I truly believed, everything fell apart. If you do choose to stay with him, DON'T become a JW. You can't change your beliefs for someone, it just doesn't work.
Email me if you need to discuss this.

If Jehovah's people don't speculate, then I guess the WT, by its own definition are not Jehovah's people. They speculated that the wild beast is Satan. They speculated that the archangel Michael is Jesus. They speculated that 1914 was when armageddon would come. They speculate that armageddon will come "any day now". Come on now, if anyone knows any history of the JWs, they SPECULATE.
Here are some more speculations: from www.jwfiles.com
1999 "The apostle Paul was spearheading the Christian missionary activity. He was also laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our 20th century." {WT Jan 1 1989 12} [bound volume changed "20th century" to "day"]

Creation Stories
by JosephAlward in.
where do the bible-believers in this forum stand on the genesis creation?
is it one story told by one author, the same story told twice with different emphasis by the same author, the same story told twice with different emphasis by two different authors, or two different stories told by two different authors, or two different--and conflicting--stories told by two different authors?

I try to look at things like a reasonable person. Religion is used to explain what is not currently explainable. How did we get here, why are we here, what happens after death. Nobody knows for sure, so different cultures come up with different answers. The Bible is just one of those cultures answers to these questions. At this time for western culture, it seems to be the predominant belief for those who accept religious answers. This in no way makes it more correct than other beliefs, like the Hindu Vedas, the Koran, the Egyption book of the dead or the Book of Mormon.
If you step back and look at it with a reasonable eye, its a book of passed down stories of one culture. Over time, the stories were probably embelished, just like any story today, to be more interesting. So there probably is some truth behind some stories, like people or places that really existed. Perhaps the battles really did occure. But there is no reason to believe that this book is something more special and hold more truth than any other holy book.
If people are to hold beliefs as undeniable truths, they better stand up to tests and proofs. I for one believe that by flipping the light switch in my office, the lights will come on if I pay my power bill. I also believe if they don't, there is probably something wrong. I also belive I ate spegetti for dinner last night. I believe this because I cooked it myself. But to believe something as undeniable truth that was read in a book that can't be proven, to kill and die for these beliefs, seems pretty sad.
Oh well, just my 2 cents.

I tried this a couple months ago with a friend I had way back in the day (from 3rd grade to Jr High) in Florida. he had a pretty uinqe name so I looked him up. Got an email and dropped a note saying Hi. He was happy to hear from me. It felt good to say hi. We haven't emailed each other since, but it was cool to make contact with someone I haven't seen or heard from in over 10 years.

Remember folks: Reading the WT/AFAKE! for 4 years strait is equivelant to a 4 year degree. So why waste money on a school? Just give anyone who has been reading the WT/AFAKE! mags for 4 years degrees. They have earned it.
I got my BA in Misquotes with a minor in double talk.

Why On Earth Did You Ever Become A Witness & What Made You Decide To Leave?
by minimus ini've known for years that if i was visited at my home by jehovah's witnesses, i would have become a do not call.
i would have firmly but politely told the witnesses to never come back to my door and bother me again.
since i was raised "in the truth", i learned the religion from infancy.

To whom belongs all the Watchtower's wealth?
by JH ini know this won't happen, but who would get all the money and the buildings and the lots, if the watchtower society would close down?
how many people would benefit from this?.
are there any figures on how much wealth the watchtower has accumulated over the years?

People will do anything as long as they believe it is to further God's purpose. I guess its a good way to have people do what you want them to do, make them believe they are doing it for God.
