I was told by a JW this week if was at all meeting all of the new lights would fall in place and completely make sense. Sounds like cult brainwashing to me.

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!!!!
by Julia Orwell inthat's how i feel when i see these crazy new wt study articles and the inane reasoning contained therein, and the indoctrination machines of meetings run by all those little hardened human cogs and the unending stream of propaganda we're pitched up against.
.. you could spend all your time working through those wt articles (see cedar's post on the latest 'new light') and refuting the stupidity, and yet most witnesses aren't even concerned with changes to the fds or 144 000 because like all of humanity they're too busy trying to scratch a living as it is.
such airy doctrine changes don't have any effect on their day to day lives and is thus irrelevant.

And I thought memorials were supposed to be a solemn occasion!
by cedars injust found this on youtube.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1eic5fiywe.
not that i blame them for making the most of an otherwise dreary event, but i've never known a memorial to be treated like a high school prom before!.

The Memorial was the one and only celebration we were allowed. We always had to make it the best as children becuase it was our one and only time to have an excuse to buy new clothes and dress up. In later years I did her Elders say we shouldn't make it our day by dressing up but we ignored this advice because it was our day of celebration.

Trinity, Immortality of the soul, Hell fire... Homosexuality
by irondork inmost people here who have spent any amount of time studying the bible will agree that the bible allows for more than one interpretation of these topics.
well, the first three topics, anyways.. reading the gay marriage discussions on this board i see a common thread weaving its way through: no acknowledgement whatsoever that there is an equally valid interpretation of the bible that does not condemn homosexuality.. once in a while i will see the word trinity mentioned on this forum and no big deal is made of it (for the most part).
trinitarian and non-trinitarian teachings are accepted as variations of the christian understanding of the bible without any judgment being made regarding the genuineness of that person's christian identity or relationship with god.. mention the word homosexuality, and there is a huge difference in attitude.

Irondork, my son, not on this site, has also done a lot of bible research and has come to the same understanding about homosexuality. BTW he has changed his pic on facebook to the same as your avatar. The Equal sign. Love it. Just want to give you my support.

from my place of forgetting, and out of my utter despair and loneliness, i tap out my pathetic message desperately hoping that there is someone, anyone that might possibly hear ... .

Anyone else celebrating the Memorial with just their families at home tonight?
by ohiocowboy intonight, i have decided to bake unleavened bread so that my partner and i can have our own memorial at home.
i already have the wine, and i will be serving it in an authentic ancient greel drinking vessel called a kantharos that was used in ancient times.
i've collected ancient greek and roman coins and antiquities for quite a few years, and i thought it would be neat to try be be as authentic as possible by serving the emblems in ancient wares.

The Mantan the lost tribe of Wales
by designs inwe have been researching our ancestry and so far on my father's side we have located the family land in wales in a little village called machynileth just off the coast of cardigan bay and our search dates to 1749. someday my son and i will visit our family-tree homesteads in europe.. legends develop in anyone's family and one of the curious legends was of an american native tribe called the mantan who lived near the ohio valley and wisconsin and later moved east to the dakotas.
what was interesting about the story of these peoples is that they were blue-eyed and some green-eyed with lighter skin and it was thought early on by anthropologists that some of their words were welsh.
it turns out they were not descendents of welsh explorers but they may have been the result of earlier encounters with europeans.
