"But here is the sad thing...I think she's right. If she wasn't df'd she would still probably be with that guy and bad mouthing her innocent husband. That's why all I could say is, "Well what does that show about the quality of her faith?" But it's so frustrating because the fact that my wife INITIATED the conversation shows that it was bothering her and she had been thinking about it."
You don't know that for sure, she may have eventually come around on her own and realized what she had done. As for your wife, at least she is thinking about it.

Disfellowshiping is a blessing!
by brotherdan inso yesterday my mil did the token believing df'd person thing and told my wife that if she had not been df'd she would not have corrected her course of action.
it was a devistating blow to everything that i've been working on with my wife.
her mom said if she had not been df'd she would have spread lies about my wife's dad and would have still wanted to be with her ex-boyfriend.

The Ever Hilarious Awake Magazine!
by metatron inthousands of years ago, greek philosophers advised, "know thyself".
if the watchtower society had existed back then, they would now hold the record for the most un-self aware and oblivious to their faults - religion ever!.
it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Mad - it's kind of like the voting thing. If your ) spouse forces you to do it, it becomes a matter between you and Jehovah. The elders do not have the right to police it, but it's still considered a big NO NO.

A possible 'break' from the rank and file witnesses and WTBTS?? In the near future?
by Joliette indoes anyone see this happening: the jw's breaking off from the wtbts, when they realize that a lot of the teachings arent true?.

Well put, brotherdan.
I think there was a bit of a shake up when Ray Franz was disfellowshipped. A lot of Bethelites "saw the light" at that time and then his book caused a lot of witnesses to take blinders off and break away. That was huge!
Edited to add: Not to mention the Internet, Silentlambs and most recently, Barbara Anderson. Each on it's own may be considered a small ripple but if you get enough of them going you will eventually have a tidal wave.

....the Governing Body as a whole considers adjusted explanations....
by jgnat inthus proclaims the quietly un-annointed governing class of the watchtower and bible tract society, passing as truth.
(watchtower july 15, 2010, page 23, paragraph 10).
this paragraph about the governing body follows a description of the annointed class, a classic bait-and-switch.

Excellent Point, AnnOMaly. The GB has always slammed the Catholics because the priests say the bible is too deep for the R&F but they are guilty of the exact same thing.

Found a church that is anti-religion!
by TweetieBird ini started going to a church that my co-worker goes to about a month ago and i really like it.
they actually meet in a movie theater, serve bagels and cream cheese, coffee, and krispy kreme doughnuts.
i wear jeans and flip flops if i want, they play rock music, and so opposite of any kh experience i've ever had.

I actually look forward to Sunday's. How bizarre! I use to dread Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays-now I enjoy life.
The best part-if I decide to never step foot in there again, no big deal.

I started going to a church that my co-worker goes to about a month ago and I really like it. It's very anti-religion. They actually meet in a movie theater, serve bagels and cream cheese, coffee, and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I wear jeans and flip flops if I want, they play rock music, and so opposite of any KH experience I've ever had. Everyone is very down to earth and my kids actually look forward to going, me too! It's actually VERY refreshing.
Last week, he was talking about how important it is to make and keep friends outside of the church. He said that when a church/religion only encourages you to associate with other church members, the church will start to implode. My husband turned to me and said, "wow, you'd never hear that at the KH".

"You're still allowed to visit, but it will be awkward"
by TweetieBird inthat was what my husbands mom told him after she found out that we were no longer going to meetings.

Fortunately we don't live near them so it's no big deal. We really don't have anything in common with them (his whole family) and the past few visits have been awkward for us anyway. We love them but we are so different now. We have moved on and our life does not revolve around them anymore. All of my kids are out of the cult and that's what really matters to me.

Very laid back, everyone there in shorts or jeans and tee shirt. The pastor wore jeans and a tee shirt. The sermon was actually really nice without being preachy. Served bagels, donuts and coffee. I felt totally at home which surprised me cause I was raised in the borg.
