A guy named David received a parrot for his birthday. The parrot was
fully-grown, with a bad attitude and even worse vocabulary. Every other
word was a swear word. Those that weren't
expletives were, to say the least, rude.
David tried hard to change the bird's attitude and was constantly saying
polite words, playing soft music, and doing anything he could think of
to try and set a good example. Nothing worked. He yelled at the bird and
the bird yelled back. He shook the bird and the bird just got angrier and
ruder.
Finally, in a moment of desperation, David put the parrot in the freezer.
For a few moments he heard the bird squawk and kick and scream. Then
suddenly there was quiet. Not a sound for half a minute. David was
frightened that he might have hurt the bird, and quickly opened the
freezer door.
The parrot calmly stepped out onto David's extended arm and said, "I
believe
I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I will
endeavor at once to correct my behavior. I really am truly sorry and beg your
forgiveness."
David was astonished at the bird's change in attitude and was about to
ask what had caused such a dramatic change, when the parrot continued, "May
I ask what the chicken did?" -

Will the WTS ever drop the reporting of time?
by TweetieBird inwhat do you think would happen if the society received "new light" and it was no longer a requirement to turn in a field service report, it is now between each publisher and jehovah what they do as far as witnessing?
personally i don't think that will ever happen because that is the only way they can maintain control over everyone in the congregation.

Is The WTBS Really Crumbling?
by exjdub inthere have been posts and topics about the wtbs imploding and feuding factions in bethel etc.
some have said that the end is near for the wtbs.
is this just wishful thinking...or do you really think that this is a reality?

1st, don't take the 6 million figure seriously. I'm in that number and I'm a total fake, like countless other people stuck
Count me and hubby in on that one, too. I know lots and lots of "witnesses" that inflate their service time, mostly people raised in the "truth" that make a show of being a witness so that they do not lose their family members that still believe it's the truth. Not to mention that by counting 15 minutes a month you are still considered an active witness. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the 6 million figure include "unbaptized publishers"?
You really can't take the 6 million figure seriously.

Things that made me go hmmm
by TweetieBird inanother thread asked what made you first have doubts.
for some, i guess there was one particular instance that made them start questioning, i.e.
generation change in 1995, un scandal, child abuse being brought out into the open, but for me it was little things.

Another thread asked what made you first have doubts. For some, I guess there was one particular instance that made them start questioning, i.e. generation change in 1995, UN scandal, child abuse being brought out into the open, but for me it was little things. Here is a partial list.
1) Being in several different congregations and all elder bodies having the same harsh, unloving, judgemental attitude which rubbed off onto most of the publishers.
2) The constant references the society made to themselves about events in the bible that they applied solely to them, specifically the imprisonment of the 8 or 9 men in 1918 and how that was somehow fulfilling bible prophecy, the locusts of revelation being the stinging message they were putting forth to the world, nonsensical stuff like that
3) How submitting to the WTS was like submitting to the scribes and pharisees and Jesus condemned the scribes and pharisees for their hypocrisy, their burdening of the people with all of their rules. This was the big eye-opener for me studying the Greatest Man book and realizing that JW's were no different from the Jews of Jesus day
4) For my husband, it was sitting before a JC with my oldest, unbaptized son who wanted to clear his conscience for having sex with his former girlfriend. No one would have ever known about it, they had broken up and moved on, but my son felt like he should let the brothers know. Instead of commending my son for coming forward, the JC chewed both my son and my husband new hind-ends. It didn't end with the JC meeting, it continued after that if either one missed a meeting, the one brother would chase them down in the parking lot and yell at them even more, my son for giving in to fleshly desires and my husband for not being a better family head. My son wants nothing to do with the witnesses.
5) and finally, I guess it would have to be the so-called "holy spirit appointments" of elders. It was spirit appointed alright, but definitely not holy-spirit.

Only times people at the KH talked to me
by Nosferatu inelder: hi nos.
me: good.
elder: how's school going?.

At least they said hello, people. I always thought that I was invisible. In fact, I told my husband that I must be invisible because I can have people standing right next to me carrying on a conversation and not even look at me or smile at me.

For his birthday, little Patrick asked for a 10-speed bicycle. His
father said, "Son, we'd give you one, but the mortgage on this house is
$80,000 & your mother just lost her job. There's no way we can afford
it."
The next day the father saw little Patrick heading out the front
door with a suitcase. So he asked, "Son, where are you going?" Little
Patrick told him, "I was walking past your room last night heard you
telling mom you were pulling out. Then I heard her tell you to wait
because she was coming too. And I'll be damned if I'm staying here by
myself with an $80,000 mortgage & no bike!" -

JW's and Funerals..... your thoughts please, including current JW's
by bull01lay ina morbid topic i know, but one that has played on my mind since i was df'd.. my mum is still a very devout witness.
if anything happened to her, what would the witness position be on my attending the funeral ?.
i know she would (quite rightly)expect a service at the kingdom hall.

It's hard to say. I've been to funerals where one of the family members was df'd and nobody acknowledged them and I've been to some where they were. I think it depends on the area you live in.
I kind of had the opposite experience. When my dad died (he was disassociated at the time) not one person in my congregation (same one referred to in the nepotism post) came up to me and said anything. That deeply hurt me because I was very close to my dad. But it did open my eyes. I kept thinking about how Jesus said that true Christians would be known by their love amongst themselves and I didn't experience any of that. That was definitely the beginning of the end for me.
