Supreme Court ruling- refusing to photo gay wedding is discrimination
by SadElder inaccording to bloomberg news:.
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2014-04-07/wedding-photographer-rebuffed-by-top-court-on-same-sex-ceremony.
"the u.s. supreme court turned away an appeal from a new mexico wedding photographer found to have violated a state anti-discrimination law when she refused to take pictures of a commitment ceremony for a same-sex couple.. the photographer, elaine huguenin, argued unsuccessfully that she was being unconstitutionally forced to convey a message conflicting with her religious beliefs.

So what if it is discrimination. A person should not be forced to do work or work for someone whom she does not want to. Any business has the right to refuse service, especially an individual. What if the gay wedding wanted a penis shaped cake, can the bakery refuse to make that? First off, how would one know how to photograph a gay wedding? Usually there are bride, and bridal party pictures, then groom and groom party pictures, etc. But it would be all messed up.
A Witness photographer can refuse to do a Catholic wedding.
And this is not the same as Whites Only signs. Like Lambsbottom above said "I am proud to be anti-gay marriage.". I also am anti-gay marriage. There is no such thing. It is called being friends..

Is this new donation arrangement for real?
by nugget injust read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

"I haven't donated a cent in over a year."
Oh really? I haven't donated in 14 years. I don't see why people still do.
Oh, they believe that it is part of 'keep seeking first the kingdom'. But how is it that they draw the connection between the congregation and the kingdom?
What recently upset me is that there is a letter on the information board about how they have raised over 3 million for the West Georgia assembly hall. No work has been done on that yet. They are just raising money and making plans. But now that the circuit assemblies are 1 day. There is no need for a new assembly hall. But people just follow along and donate and get excited. I read a story in the newspaper about how a local county has an animal shelter that has to kill animals because they don't have enough resources to care for them. Animal shelters can use that money more than assembly halls. There is an ad on this page after I posted this message for the ASPCA and its need for donations.

There is nothing creepy about the pictures. They are just the 4 horsemen. Nothing creepy about that.
Creepy means getting chills or fears about scary unknown things.
The 4 horsemen have been going on for 100 years and affecting everyone.

Jesus had to die? Really?
by punkofnice ini admit i no longer believe in god and holy books.. thinking of the made up 'universal sovereignty' thing, surely if god existed in the way the holy books describe him then he could have thought of something better than humankind suffering thousands of years and the slaughter of jesus?.
couldn't god have said: 'well, satan is a very naughty boy but you all know how great i am so we can end it now.
i will lovingly kill satan and his mates and that's that.

Here we are in the Congregational book study, studying about how powerful Jehovah is, but yet he bows to the challenges of other spirit beings to create a test and then when the test fails, to make a punishment and then to create a redemption and to have his son do that. All that for a sense of justice.
It is said that Love is his greatest attribute, but none of that is loving.

Great Crowd is NOT under the New Covenant...Where does it say this?
by Christ Alone ini was wondering if there was anywhere someone could point to in the bible for the watchtower belief that the great crowd is not included in the new covenant.
i know that this is their line of thinking when it comes to jesus being mediator.
they say that jesus is only mediator of the new covenant and since the gc is not under the new covenant, jesus is not specifically a mediator to them.

Wolfman, you highlighted a person's riddles. And that does not tell why someone would want to go to heaven.
It's this being enamored with Jesus that you are professing. People just want to be with Jesus just like Catholics want to be with the Pople. What do they do, say hello and shake his hand and ask for a blessing.

Why don't Born Again Christians include themselves as "Cults"?
by booker-t inwhen i see or hear born again christians calling mormons, jws, 7th day adventists, jews etc; cults i always have wondered is that not the pot calling the kettle black?
i just amazes me how so much in denial bacs(born again christians) are.
they love to condemn and throw stones at others but they will never, never, and i mean never label themselves as cults even though they have some of the weirdest beliefs.

Perry said:"The born again person experiences a release of the "grip" of sin on his entire being"
No, it is not about born again experience. It is that you are making different decisions and you attribute that to religion.
Non-born agains make those same decisons without the drug of religion.
Go sober and free of the drug of religion.

Order in the universe
by Rattigan350 inthis topic was covered in book study last night.
some commented that the universe is ordered and the stars don't collide.. that has nothing to do with order.
it is more to do with that there is more space between the stars and planets and things go between them if they were in the same area.. and do they not consider that the many things that colliided with the moon to make those crators?.

The comment was made that since the Bible says that none were missing to mean that the stars don't collide or disappear. But that does not mean that. It means that Jehovah knows where they are, even if they do collide or Super nova.
Why the need to defend God?

If the dead are not conscious, what difference does it make if one dies at A. or anything else?
dead is dead.
You are not even going to know that you are dead after Armageddon.
