During our family worship tonight a thought popped into my head while watching this weeks video on demon influence. Why is does Jehovah not like certain things? Like why is homosexuality wrong? Why is even liking the idea of magic wrong? Why is talking about the abilities of demons wrong? Is this just part of Gods personality like how I hate cauliflower?
I was thinking more towards the mosaic laws where we get direct laws instead of principles ie murder is bad. These laws are simple to understand. the reason killing is wrong is it affects them negatively whereas homosexuality like any relationship it at least aims to be beneficial to both people. If there isn’t any negative part why is it wrong if it is just different that what was designed?
If I road around town on my lawn mower, John Deer wouldn’t come and destroy it just because I wasn’t using it as intended right?
Have you seen the video of the professor listing her rules and it’s just her scream NO POMEGRANATES! Sorta similar when you think about it

Be very careful on how you leave. Make sure you can have your life sorted out before you jump. You wouldn’t want to be left emotional Or physically in the gutter. Even when your not baptized Elders can talk with their groups to say a certain ex unbaptized publisher went apostate and should be shunned.

I can’t write something profound or As well written as petezehut but just know that you aren’t alone. The fact that this site exists means there are others like us either going thru similar situations or have been thru it already. If your feeling alone post something. Pretty soon you’ll have some folks replying. The world is full of distractions some good some bad it’s your choice, find one that makes you happy or find happiness in trying them out. Isn’t life suppose to be like a box of chocolates? I despise the aftertaste of dark

Does prophesy negate free will?
by Tim207 innot sure if this is in the right subject but here it goes.
i’ve asked this question to a few elders and bethelites but they don’t seem to understand or like the question.
to start off we have to agree that jehovah is all powerful.

Thank you all for your replies but you are all taking the side of an atheist not of someone who believes in an all powerful god. What I am trying to do is see if in a world with an all powerful god and possibly all knowing does that remove the idea of free will. Kind of going towards the idea of preditermination if god is both all powerful and all knowing if he sees what we do before we do it are we choosing to do it?

Not sure if this is in the right subject but here it goes. I’ve asked this question to a few elders and bethelites but they don’t seem to understand or like the question. To start off we have to agree that Jehovah is all powerful. Next we have to agree that the whole point of this system according to JW is to prove who has the right to rule. we humans have a say in this by using our free will. Therefore free will is basically the only thing that we as humans have power over in the universal play. Next if jehovah uses a prophesy to see your future does that remove your free will?
for example say god prophesies you will drink a hot pot of Koolaid tomorrow morning instead of coffee. Can you go against that prophesy and drink coffee or do you lose your free will and your future becomes written by that prophesy?
the only replies I’ve gotten are examples like Jonah who tried to go against not a prophesy but a command and the end result was the same: what god said happened.
Did anyone who had a prophesy written against them have a choice in the matter?

144000 who’s idea first
by Tim207 inhello this is my first post although i’ve lingered on this site before.
i’m curious about a comment i read saying that rutherfords idea of only 144000 going to heaven was taken from the founder of the church friends of man.
i tried looking up this church but could not find information on when they started this belief.

Thank you all for your replies I appreciate it. I am still curious on dates for the change of JW beliefs. The number 144000 is in revelation but at what point did JWs say this was the number to go to heaven? If we have a date on that then it can be proof that the idea was not JWs but of the offshoot russellites Friends of Man. If this is true I think it would be pretty interesting point to bring up with my elders. I’m not one to argue with them just want to see their opinion.

Hello this is my first post although I’ve lingered on this site before. I’m curious about a comment I read saying that Rutherfords idea of only 144000 going to heaven was taken from the founder of the church Friends of Man. I tried looking up this church but could not find information on when they started this belief. We should know that 144000 teaching changes a few times in early JW history but it was at the 1935 convention that Rutherford taught of the two classes. Do we count 1935 as the date that witnesses believe only 144000 go to heaven? Before Russell taught the same number but that JW would be limited to that number right? I hope I make sense.
