Robin Williams passes

just stunned at the news.

comic genius and actor.. share your favorite robin williams moments.. .

Very sad to hear this - he was one of the greatest talents alive. Just a couple of days ago I saw him on TV in a supporting role in a relatively minor movie ("August Rush" - 2007), and still, he was able to shine. To this day "Mrs. Doubtfire" remains my favorite comedy. And, as said before, if it was easy to snap out of depression, Robin would be the person to pull that stunt. The lesson to take is - it isn't. Plus, Robin Williams was bipolar, which can explain both his genious, and his "manic" performances.

Another giant bites the dust. RIP, Mr. Williams.

there's a lot of talk right now about how stupid it is to have jws hand out leaflets with urls on them.

Ever heard the expression "guilty pleasure"?

Many wouldn't welcome the Witnesses at their home for a bible study, or spend five minutes talking with them about religious topics, nor even accepting literature for fear of them coming back or others seeing it and mocking them. However ... just like online porn, curiosity over 'exotic' or 'polemic' religions may well be many people's "guilty pleasure" that they can indulge themselves in the privacy (and secrecy) of their homes.

I think that's what the WTS is counting on.

More: I think it won't be long until the jw.org is geared up as a platform to conduct online bible studies with interested visitors. "Would you like to study the bible online? One of our assistants is available right now to discuss one of the following topics with you, or you can enter your own bible question on the box below." .............

If there were no shunning ...

a lot of members of this forum are still notionally active jws, in many cases because of worries about the loss of contact with family and friends if they were to leave.

i was never in so it's hard for me to judge, but it seems to me that if the watchtower org were to announce tomorrow that shunning is wrong and jws should keep contact with family and friends who leave then the effect would be devasting for congregation numbers.

if so then obviously such an announcement is highly unlikely, but is my view correct?

If there was no shunning enforced, I would DA myself and continue to attend meetings ocasionaly with my wife, for the sake of keeping in touch with friends.

That won't be happening, unfortunately. The WTS doesn't have the balls to let go of that powerful card.

everyone knows i have been playing this dating game, and what a fun game it has been.

i have met a few nice guys but remained strictly platonic, and also met some really pushy guys too that just wanted sex.. i have not met mr right yet, but who knows what the platonic guys could evolve into.. it's all a game and anyone who says they don't play games when dating is lying.

does a man always have to make the first move?.

Men are usually bad at guessing what a woman wants. Most men won't do any decisive move because they have no idea how the woman will react, so they protect themselves from shooting their feet. However, if the woman drops hints, men are usually quick to understand and make decisions based on those... depends if you want to lead the process or let the man imagine he's leading it ...
