JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES OLD SUPREME COURT CASE (THEY LOST) COMES UP IN THE NEWS concerning TERROR and HATE SPEECH!
by Terry ini know about it and i'll explain the reason why.it has to do with terrorism and hate speech!________________________.
in researching my book about jehovah's witnesses, (i wept by the rivers of babylon) i studied many supreme court cases jehovah''s witnesses were fighting during the 1940's.. one such case is: 1942 supreme court ruling chaplinsky v. new hampshire.. if you had to use just two words to describe this case those two words would be: fighting words.. __________________________.
a jw street preacher incited his fellow citizens to riot against him by insulting everything they held dear: their god, their religion, their government, and their flag.. (that doesn't surprise you, does it?:).

**MUST READ** AlanF's email to Knocking.org
by sf inthis is a must-read that, hopefully, will stay an "active topic" for all seekers and lurkers, by bumping it to the top as often as possible.
alan wrote it in randys {dogpatch} thread regarding knocking.org documentary and in reply to the email mr. engardio sent to barbara anderson.
however, it is so vital a read that it indeed needs its own thread:.

The Evidence / Proof That Jehovah Witnesses / I.B.S.A. Have NEVER Been Gods Spirit Directed Organisation .
by smiddy inthis is a topic i think every ex jw should have oppurtunity to contribute toward .. it has been 144 years since c.t.russell first published "zions watchtower and herald of christs presence" in 1879 .. red flag 1 " zions watchtower " ?
obviously c.t.russell had sympathy with the zionist movement of the day.. "christs presence" in 1879 ?
that is right and armageddon was to occur in 1914.. when that did not occur 1916-18 was promoted.

Crime rates among Baptized Witnesses are comparable to the general population.
Can you objectively back up this claim?

Another reason god is a terrible "father"
by _Morpheus inits easy to look around and say if a singular all powerful were real he would stop the suffering of man and animal, a position i support.
however there is another even more basic premise i have pondered at times as well (im sure im not the first of course) : would any loving parent ever hide from their children?
consider it... our all knowing all loving father hides from us even though we cry out to know him.

The question that everyone that calls Jehovah a "loving father" should as is: What kind of selfish monster of a father would put his own reputation ahead of the well-being of their children? Because this is in fact what the Jehovah's Witnesses teach on the issue of "sovereignty". The all-important question revolves around Satan questioning Jehovah's right to rule the universe and the rightfulness of his rule. Nevermind how many billions of lives of his human creatures are expended and countless suffering mankind is put through so that "Jehovah's good name" is restored.
Utter nonsense. If. You. Just. Think. About It.

Anybody see this?
by Junction-Guy ini just saw a couple of news stories from israel.
apparently the jw's were attempting to hold some kind of convention there, and the the town ruled against the jw's, but another court sided with the jw's and they were allowed to have their event.
it turns out several hundred local orthodox jews turned out to protest this event, and it did turn violent at one point.

Unfortunately, the Israeli state has become lately a racist, orthodox-driven bigot entity. While I understand that they frown at the Jehovah's Witnesses because of the ambiguous moves by JF Rutherford to appease Hitler, it is a sign of something bigger and more worrying going on in Israel atm.

Anti-JW billboard going up in Texas
by sunny23 inthe first ever billboard has been crowd funded on reddit and will be going up.
i'm curious to know if it will cause a spark in any jw's who already have questions or doubts and lead them to research into the child abuse cases and lead them to the thought that the wt and gb are not inspired or gods mouthpiece.
at the very least it will provide people a topic of conversation and questions to the jw's who knock on their door: "so whats this whole sex abuse in kingdom halls thing about i saw on the billboard down the road?

Humblepotato, welcome to this forum.
Cappytan, your words could be exactly mine. We're absolutely on the same page on this. I also wanted to believe. But in truth, we just don't know, and the odds are so incredibly remote that the best course of action is to act as if he didn't existed, and keep a healthy, skeptical yet tolerant open mind. Works for me at least. Which, of course, doesn't mean we will suddenly start acting unethically or immorally. There's moral life beyond religious boundaries.
I would also add this question that bothered me: IF God exists, and IF he created the universe and life itself, IF he's truly that much powerful and good and wise and self-sufficient, why would he require us to worship and serve him? I'd be perfectly comfortable in loving said God as a father, and listen to his advice, but why the imposition of worship and service? Why on earth would I, as a father, require my children to worship and serve me and die for me? What kind of a moral freak would that make me? Of course, that's when the concept of organized religion comes in and you realize that all that's been taught to mankind about God and deities fits religious agendas that demand the believer's life as a sacrifice to them, not God.
Think about it.
