hi from a newbie!
by Princess inhi everyone, i have been "lurking" for a week or so and thought i'd join the fun.
i am a third generation jw who was determined not to make my kids the fourth!
my husband and i left almost five years ago and have never looked back and as a result have never been happier.. just a quick summary of the past thirteen years.... i never went to college (never even considered it) and was married two weeks after graduating from high school.

princess-welcome! i have enjoyed your mother's posts, looking forward to yours. my wife and i are also much happier OUTSIDE the WT, i have to say, though, i'm jealous that you have a mother who is out and free.:) i wish my parents could see reality, we could be so much closer. maybe they will wake up yet! cheers-nate

Newbie here
by godlike into this forum at least.
i noticed a couple others posting newbie threads so i thought i'd jump on the band wagon.. i don't have a great story or tale for you all, i just walked away.
don't know what the elders told the rest of the herd.

godlike-glad to have you here. it's funny how the elders always talk about how sad ex-jws are, when the reality is so different. riz and i have been friends for a long time, and we've been having a blast(for the most part) since we walked away.:) looking forward to your posts.-nate

Hi everyone....
by Jeremy Bravo inas i sit in front of my computer in a drunken stupor wondering what might have been, i felt i had to post my story to those who might truly understand what i am going through.. i am a newbie here, but have been lurking around for the last few weeks.
i am 25 years old, from ontario, and totally heartbroken.. to give you some background, back in 1998, i studied with the witnesses because some friends of mine, whom i believe to be honest and sincere people, gave me (i thought at the time) some good advice to start a book study.
i did, and i really enjoyed it because i felt they presented everything factually and had a strong interpretation of the scriptures (i'm a facts man, you see).

jeremy-i remember the pain of my jw-influenced first marriage. it took a awhile to get over the breakup, but we are all tougher than we imagine when we have to be. i raise my glass to you and your efforts to put this behind you. hope things start getting better soon, and welcome to the board.-nate

hey venice! the signs are great. i've been absent from the board again, my grandmother of 93 passed away last week, and i had too much going on to get online. i would love to post some signs in my community. it seems so sick to me that most dubs will see silentlambs as apostate, instead of trying to help the victims.-nate

Do You Remember...
by Undecided ini just got home from a dinner sponsored by the senior citizens counsel, an organization funded by the taxes of our city and county.
they have many programs to benefit the senior people in our area.
i hate to admit it but i qualify.

Biology Lesson for the guys
by wasasister inwarning: i am about to discuss a rather delicate subject.
if the words menstruation or period gross you out, please stop reading now.. i am going to attempt to keep names out of this discussion, as my thoughts are directed to the general population, not one individual.
i am fairly certain, however, that someone may take this personally and react with anger and insults.

nice thoughts, wasa. my wife always tells me that i am lucky, because while she is only a little "off" for a few days out of the month, i am a moody s.o.b. all month long! in my book, any woman that can put up with me deserves some extra slack and compassion when she needs it.
as for accusing women of not being capable during those few days, someone who would do that needs to deflate their ego a tad, and listen quite a bit more to the women in their life, IMO. thanks for sharing, wasa.-nate

for those who "grew up in the borg"
by zev inat this late, middle stage of my life, i've started wondering, now that i know what i know, about the things in my life that i "lived" with.
having been raised all my life in the "borg" i have known nothing else.
when questions began forming years ago, it started me thinking.

interesting question, zev. i was raised in the cult, walked away at 22, now i'm 27. it was a very hard at first, now it's getting easier. i'm living life without the shackles of guilt and shame, and i feel stronger spiritually then i ever did as a jw. my immediate family is still immersed in the cult, and that causes situations that aren't very fun, but i just keep trying to keep on being a good son and brother, so that the only compaints they can have with me are jw-related. it is amazing what a mind-f#%k growing up a witness can be, though. one thing that helps so much is having a wife who grew up like i did, and left the org. having your mate understand that part of you intimately is really helpful, sometimes.-nate

by Vienna inhow many on this board are: a) christains--not a jw b) jehovah's witnesses c) do not believe in god d) have a belief in god but just not active in anything right now.
i'm new to the board and was curious as to everyone's standing.
i'm 30, a christain, i left the jws 3 years ago (after being in it for 21 years) to follow jesus and heard of, among other good things, this great thing called: grace!
