divided families
by Blackcat inwhy is it that even though your not disfellowshipped or dissasociated and you start questioning the things you thought where truth about the org.
your so-called family members avoid you like the plague?.i find it quite comical to see how different they treat you, leaving the "truth" and keeping your mouth shut they can handle, but once you start questioning the so-called faithful and discreet slave, all hell breaks loose !!!
i,ve been accused of being anti-witness,apostate (which i dont mind) and been told that i,ve spat in the face of jah all because i have openly expressed my opinions about the org.

i remember, even before i was DF'ed, witnesses pretending they couldn't see me in the grocery store, even when direct eye contact was made. yes, it was good for a chuckle.

ben, nice to meet you. i was raised a witness and my parents were strict, but loving, and they tried to keep my best interests in front of them. if your parents fit into that cattegory, try to talk with them and listen to them as best you can. for now, they do have authority over you and when you become an adult, you will be able to make your own decisions as one. i did and it has worked out pretty well. it's normal to disagree with one's parents just as much as it is normal to disagree with one's children. i hope you can get along okay. logical- can ben be spared some of your negativity?

Dedicated
by joelbear ini have a question for the group.. i am wondering if anyone has ever had a dedication and baptism successfully anulled.. i clearly recall that i did not answer the 2 questions when asked with the baptismal group.
i have an enormously strong aversion to lying and i knew that i was a homosexual and therefore didn't feel like i could answer the questions truthfully even though i was a virgin.. if i was never dedicated in jehovah's eyes how can i be disfellowshipped in his eyes.
i never took the vow, so doesn't that basically just make my baptism meaningless.

joelbear, first of all, i just wanted to say that i have enjoyed the positivity and kindness of your posts. i too was baptized at 14 and i don't think anyone can make a binding agreement for lifelong loyalty to any organization. when the elders came to me after years of seperation, i told them this, and my reasoning was flatly denied even though i never tried to take back my dedication to jehovah. they seem to view dedication to jehovah as inseperable to dedication to the organization.

YOU ARE A BUNCH OF ADMIRABLE WINNERS!
by Thirdson inthose of us who spent a good portion of our lives as slaves to the printing corporation in brooklyn do well to reflect on our achievements.
we have managed to break the cult shackles and get past the guilt barrier.
we are building happy, successful lives.

Question about disfellowshipping
by MoodyBlue ini have a question.... if the elders "catch wind" of something that could be a df'ing offense, and they ask for a judicial, if you don't show up or refuse to talk to them, can they disfellowship u in absence??
if they can, is there any legal action that can be taken against it?.
i've been threatened by my jw husband (we are separated) because i've met someone else...he is threatening to tell the elders i'm dating someone else ( though as of yet, no "fornication" has occured and it's long distance) if i don't write a letter of disassociation.

i had such a similar situation. i never met with the elders, just told them i didn't want to be bothered at my door. they still disfellowshipped me w/out notification because when they asked me if my, then girlfiend, now wife, was living with me, i said yes. i, like others, think they could easily DF you. i hope they don't and i understand not wanting to DA because of family. that's why i still hadn't sent a letter when they first contacted me. i hope things work out as well as they can for you.

by unanswered ini'm new so i just saw last week's thread from rr on jw songs.
if you all have already covered this, forgive me, but do you remember when we switched to the new song book years back?
i tried so hard not to laugh with everyone trying to get the new songs down.

GOOD cult control techniques
by philo inwith logical's post in mind, i want to start a thread about something positive.
the wt are positively good at controlling their followers.. which is your favourite wt control technique, and why??????????.
the best contibution wins six million devoted worshippers and a 40 year conditional canonisation in the pages of the wt.. the one i like is so good because it works from 'on high' as well as among the orphans and widows at the congregation.

hand and hand with guilt, my favorite has to be shame. shame for being just a publisher, shame for being sinful, shame for "perverted" sexual desires with your mate....i could keep on going for days.
