Fantasy "Forbidden Fruit" Ex-Witness Party

if you could get all willing participants on this board together in one area for a party, and told them to bring favorite music, food, movies, and dressed in certain fashion, all of which has been discouraged or outright banned either by the wts or by their flunkies (do, co, elders, busybodies in the hall, etc.

), what would you bring?.

For music I'd bring Godsmack, Metallica, Disturbed or basically any of the "forbidden" music. That would include the Beatles to right? Oh better yet KISS (You know, Knights In Satan's Service).

Not sure about the food, I like Aguest turkey dinner idea.

Movies, let's see, Star Wars, Anne, E.T. Passion of the Christ...All of the forbidden movies...oh let's not forget The Twilight Sage.

I like the idea of the Thriller Video (I just recently watched it to see what was so bad about it and I thought it was pretty cool)

Video games: I'd bring Halo, World of War Craft, Modern Warfare, Mass Effect and Skyrim, Diabol 3, Dante's Inferno, Prototype....there are tons more I could mention, but I think you get the idea...I've heard JW mention these games by name saying you shouldn't play them.

Dress, I'd say let's have a costume party. I'll be the one dressed as Sparlock. My husband will be dressed in a T-shirt with a picture of Sparlock saying "Do you know TTATT?"

Final idea, We should hire mascots....A Smurf and Sparlock!

i read in a forum in spanish that there is a strong rumor spreading in the corridors of the wt.

has anyone heard anything about this??

Scientologists break up families! Does this sound familiar?

i just watched a 2008 nbc nightline special on scientology.

in it, there was an interview with ex-scientologist and former seaorg member astra woodcraft.. among other very interesting statements, she made this telling comment about scientology: .

Kids growing up in a cult involves much more of their personality/psyche, than adult converts. Adults may have a 'base' of their real self, however, children in a cult don't get/have that base. To find that within themselves, takes more unraveling. It's going to be much more emotional and excruiating.

Gayle what you said really hits home to me because I was born into this cult and now almost to 30 years old I'm having to reevaluate EVERYTHING. Who am I? Do I even believe in a God? Is there any proof os a god? I mean I have been having to question everything I was taught growing up and this has been the hardest dang thing I've had to do in my life. I was always the good little witness girl and the only accomplishments I got praise on from most of my other JW family was when I was baptized at 10, started regular pioneering at 16, and then when I met this fine upstanding spiritual brother and we got married (You know, married in the lord). I was praised and told how good of a kid I was.

I was never praised for graduating HS at 16 and being the first one in my family ever to go to college and graduate at the hop of my class with honors at 20. Or soon after college I started my own business that is very successful and I can support my husband now while he goes to school and gets an education.

You are right it is much more emotional and excruiating for me than it is my parents who have left the JW's also. They came in young, but they weren't born in. I'm still having to deal with the JW thinking and trying to fix my thinking. And some days I still don't even know "who I am"

BTW that fine upstanding spiritual husband my family was so proud of that I married, he is now a dissident and has left the JW's with me and my parents. I just find that so ironic.

Well Coffee you beat me there. I have always been the youngest one I've met to be baptized.

My husband's nephew started going over the questions for baptisim when he was 8. He answered all the questions correctly, but the elders for some reason said he couldn't get baptized. Oh man you should have heard his mom cursing out their elders.....She was like a rabid squarrl. The nephew is 10 or 11 and I'm just hoping now since puberty is hitting him hard, he will hold off on getting baptized and realize like many young ones that this is a cult.

What is the most out of line / disturbing experience you have seen from Circuit Overseers?

i once heard of a circuit overseer blaming a loyal ministerial servant, that served as the accounts servant, of steeling from the contribution boxes, simply because he deposited the congregation funds bi-weekly instead of twice a week.

due to the accusation, the ms was immediately removed without hearing his side of the story.

isn't this rather counter-intuitive and innefficient?

During my pioneer school the CO lectured for a good hour why no true Christain should see Star Wars, I believe it was episode 2, that just because they were aliens doesn't change the fact on how violent the movies was....it was still killing and the most bloodiest movie ever. Apparently he has never seen any of the Alien or Predator movies. LOL. My parents have told me before I was born there was a CO who told people not to watch the movie Anne because it was a perverted movie, because of the old man adopting a young child, the old man clearly was a pedophile....How would the CO know? Takes one to know one.

What's you BIGGEST pet peeve/disagreement with the WT or GB?!?

for me its the district conventions.

not bragging in anyway, but i was born-into a family of 'higher ups' im talking co's and zo's..... and there is a room that they set up in the conventions/stadiums called the "chairmans office".

i always have access to these rooms, because im usually with one of my higher up family members who give talks and all that other crap.. anyways, while everyone in the convention is sitting in the sun, eating a slimy, soggy bolognia sandwich, the chairmans office is air conditioned, has a variety of chilled beverages, 'coke, pepsi, diet coke, gatorade, dasani water bottles,' not to mention the 'danishes, sandwich triangles, cookies, cakes, muffins, fresh coffee, and for lunch, pizza, salads, pastas, and lasagna'.

For me lately it's the why have children in this system, why not wait until the new system.

Soon after my husband and I were married, we had a few "scares" I might be pregnant so we decided, why have children in this rotton world, let's just wait and have children in the NS, totally thinking it was our decision not influenced by anyone (yea right)...so my husband had a procedure done, no chance of us having surprise children and everything was fine.... until we awakened.

Now, myself not even knowing for sure what God has planned for us, we cannot have children. Yes we have talked about adopting and yes we can love that child like our own, but we are going to miss out on the two of us making a life and it growing in me. Him putting his hand on my belly and seeing what our child would look like.

The feelings came back hard for me today because I finally started reading CoC. And that was one of the first comments Franz made. Or I should say what Rutherfraud (He was such an @$$) said at the convention and now his stupid comment is still doctrine for the JW's and now we have missed out on having our own children.

So that's my issue.

they went through the usual guilt routine, that didnt seem to work so they turned to fear.

Good for you! I hate how the elder manipulate and use the fear tactics.

It's funny last month when the elder called for our time he asked if we would like a shepharding call....I flat out told him no and used the excuse we were just too busy and we were doing fine anyways and to take the time to spend with his family, all I got was the MEH response. It will be interesting when he calls next week for our time.

Hi Magotan and welcome.

I feel that no matter who you are or what your sexuality is, the JW's have all screwed us up one way or another. It's none of anyones business who you are...but we all need to be healed.

It's kind of funny because being raised a JW, I was always told to hate people who are gay they are evil...you of all people know what the JW think, the funny part is, about 3 years ago I started finding some of my friends are gay and it really changed me. These people who are MY FRIENDS, are very nice, they always help me, even more than the JW's have. I'm so happy and thankful to call those people my friends, and I'm so happy I'm no longer consumed by the hate the JW's breed. I will be here to support you anyway I can :)

I'm with one of the other posters, you need to change your facebook privacy to stop people from spying on you, or what I recently did is make a JW facebook and my "worldly" facebook, and by worldly, I mean a facebook the JW's can't see :)
