  Shepherding call

  so, on sunday i left the meeting and was sitting in my car putting my keys in the ignition, an elder pulled on my door handal and opened up.

  i rolled my eyes, this man is annoying...anyway he asked if i was going to be around wednesday.

  i told him i should be.

  I read of an experience of how someone handled the elders when they came for a "visit", I can't find the post again and I will keep looking for it. But basically what the person did was...First kill the elders with kindness, have genuine concern about things YOU have noticed that the WT does....and just question the elders and say you are concerned about "X subject.." the person had a list of things and the elders couldn't answer the questions. Then as the elders were leaving the person then said "I have many more questions about "this" "this" and "this," next time you come can you explain it to me because I just don't understand.

  The person used JWfacts to get the questions they asked of the elders. You could always do that. I will try to find that post.

  Brother placed 'Teach" Book to President Obama? WTF?

  i just read a post on monday aprox 9pm on the "escuela del ministerio teocratico/theocratic ministry school" on facebook (posted in spanish).. it is talking about an experience given in a ohio, circuit assembly.. it reads that a brother that was a worker at the factory obama was visiting, was able to preach briefly to president obama and place the book 'what does the bible teach' during a quick meet and greet.. i think its bullshit.. anyone ever heard of this experience at a assembly?.

  i dont have a cpu, and my phone is not working, for me to copy, translate and post on here for you all to see.

  I heard one about President Bush (jr.). Right after 9/11 he was at Ground Zero looking at the aftermath, and a brother was there helping with the clean up and placed whatever book they were using at the time. I believed it at the time, but now I don't believe it. I think WT gets these rumors going to help "encourage" their flock. Oh look the president is interested..if the president of the USA is interested then we can reach anoyone...

  I heard that John Lennon just before he was killed had started studying...and I've heard so many JW say his song Imagine was based on his studying with the JW's....Again, at the time I believed it, but now knowing more about him, I don't believe the song is about the "new system" or JW's....

  I need some advice please!!! I'm torn on what to do.

  this morning i woke up thinking about a friend of mine, i will call her sara...here's some of the back story.. we grew up together and have always been good friends, even though we wouldn't stay in touch, we would just pick up where we left off.

  sara has always been different, and i never really knew what it was growing up, but i didn't care, she was my friend.

  so we lost touch for many years and then about 4 yrs ago when i went back to my home town, we reconnected.

  OnTheWayOut, I am not afraid of her rejecting me, crying out loud! I've lost all of my JW family, and most of my JW friends... You think one more person rejecting me will make me afraid? I don't think so.

  The reason I'm unsure how to handle this is because 1) I'm new to this whole apostate thing, and 2) since I was a born in and been a JW almost 30 years. I know how these people think, even if they leave, they are still mentally tied to WT. I have another friend who was a born in too and left. Until recently when I mentioned something about JWfacts, and until she went on there, she still though JW were right! And she's been out for 9 years and is a Mormon now. and SHE still thought WT was right. My point is, if someone is still mentally connected to WT and thinks they are right, no matter what life they are living, you can't reach them!

  Thank you everyone for the advice. I sent her a message and let's see if she replies. I actually had her phone number, but I lost it when my phone crashed on me. I don't even know if Sara will get my message because it looks like her Facebook settings are really strict, I can't even send a friend request.

  Also when did Facebook start charging $1 to send messages to someone who isn't your friend? That is so stupid!!!!

  Just to clarify, I'm not asking if I should reach out to her because she is gay. I don't care.....I'm coming at it from the JW said of it...even though she is gay and Df'ed she still could have the mind control, and in reality even though she left, she still is under the influence of the mind control.

  And when I said reaching out to her, I mean in just trying to see if we can be friends again...because I am an apostate now....and she still might think the WT has "the truth"

  Sorry for the confusion, I haven't had my coffee yet.

  We grew up together and have always been good friends, even though we wouldn't stay in touch, we would just pick up where we left off. Sara has always been different, and I never really knew what it was growing up, but I didn't care, she was my friend. So we lost touch for many years and then about 4 yrs ago when I went back to my home town, we reconnected. And right away I realized why she was different, I suspected she was lesbian. She dressed like a boy, she said how she hated to wear dresses, she even had a voice like a man, and other things.....After 25 years had never had a boyfriend...So I kept my opinions to myself, and I really didn't care if she was gay or not.

  Two years ago when I went back to the town I grew up in I ran into Sara's mom and she told me Sara was DF'ed, since I was still a Borg..it was my typical response. Later I found out from another friend of mine that Sara was a lesbian and was living with a girl.

  So my dilemma right now is, should I reach out to her? I know she's on facebook, and I'm just not sure if I should "try" to make contact with her and tell her I don't care if she is Df'ed or just let it go? Knowing that her family and all of friends are shunning her, I want her to know I'm still her friend.

  Please help!!!!

  Going to the meeting tonight ARGH!!!! So wanna end this pain NOW!

  i'm only going to the meeting because of my husband!

  i was 'in' solo for years while living with my unbelieving family and i know how it feels to be the only one in your house going to the meeting.

  i also respect my husband's decision, and know what it's like to have family try to tear down your beliefs.

  Here's an idea Julia,

  You can be our spy! I no longer go to meetings and my family still "in" no longer talk to me, so am not connected to the constant trash anymore....You can be our informant and come on here and keep us up to date. At least that will give you something to do while you are sitting there in the boring meetings.

  Just a side comment, if you are DF'ed for apostasy, I'm not sure if this would be the case for you husband, but my mom and her family experienced this when she was younger. Her dad was DF'ed back in the 70's I think it was, it was when the WT changed the stand on smoking, so my grandpa (mom's dad) was Df'ed because he couldn't quiet smoking in the time-line the brothers gave him. When he was DF'ed, the whole family was DF'ed because of him...the family wasn't officially DF'ed, but just because he was, the whole family was shunned. My mom still to this day talks about how terrible it was because she was shunned like a DF'ed person and it was just her dad...So my point is, if you are DF'ed, there is a very good chance your husband won't have the support from the cong and the JW's could very well shun him.

  The JW's are going to react in their typical way, no matter what you do. It's like with my cousin, we can never have our friendship back while she is still a JW Borg, it's hard to accept, but I'll be waiting here for her with open arms, if/when she wakes up.

  Just try to hang in there, and do your best, that is all any of us can do.

  I called the police.

  i stay at my grandmother's house and pay a little rent to her (r500) as it is all i can afford.

  i do however buy and take care of all my own food, washing etc.. this morning at 6 am, my bedroom door opend, slammed shut, heard the key turn a couple of times, open and slam shut again.

  i woke up with a fright as that has never happened....first thought is someone is in the house.

  Just stay safe please! Get some pepper spray or something to stop him if he comes after you. I'm not sure about the laws in your country but I know in the states it only takes one family member I think (not sure how many family members are needed to get someone committed) to get someone committed to the mental hospital. It sounds like he might need to be medicated....or locked up!

  Start with the police, maybe talk to them about opinions, because you shouldn't have to feel unsafe in your own home.

  Who of you ever lied on your field service reports?

  i've read a few people mention making up the figures for the field service reports, and i want to find out how common it is.

  i never lied on my report.

  sometimes i'd round up 15 minutes if i'd mentioned jw stuff to my brother that month, but that wasn't falsifying.

  Back when I was a happy borg, I would round up and I didn't follow the "how to count hours" format the brothers directed us to use. Meaning you start your time when you knock on the first door and stop your time when you leave the territory. I always started my time when we left the KH and stopped it when he got back to the KH...I would also round up! Even if it was 15min, I would round up to an hour....I was a rebel back then too :) hehehehe.

  Towards the end, before I stopped reporting, I would just put down an hour even if I never talked to anyone that month. I just didn't care anymore.
