  Convention Feedback

  has anyone been involved in convention feedback for the society?

  apparently the society does actually seek a response from 'focus group' (if you will) after each convention to see how various aspects were received.

  from what i heard many of the comments can be quite frank: i.e.

  I have a few tapes that I made back in 1970 at a district assembly and haven't listened to a one yet. If I can stand it I might listen to one to remind me what it was like. Actually I kind of enjoyed some of the assemblies when I didn't volunteer, I could sit for days and didn't have to do any theocratic duties.

  When I was in my teens it was fun looking for pretty girls to sit with and I got to travel to cities I would have never seen. If you think right you can find something good in almost anything.

  6 Jehovah's Witness Missionaries Die in Crash

  a minibus carrying 21 jehovah's witnesses returning to kenya from a meeting (convention?

  ) in uganda crashed head-on with a truck.

  6 missionaries (an american couple, a dutch couple, and 2 kenyans) died immediately and 13 others were injured.. see "missionaries killed in bus crash".

  Some act sort of like a cult, some don't. I was talking to a minister I know and he made a remark that surprised me. I explained my view of the bible hell and he said,"I sure hope you are right." He didn't try to impose any of his doctrines on me.

  JWs funerals.......forget about the dead person lets preach!

  god forbid you would talk about the person at his funeral............what do most people get after living 70-80 years..........a 5-10 minutes eulogy....................the transition statment is "let me tell you about what fred really believed in".............................45 minutes later.....that way the specker can count his time.. as we know people in the organization are unimportant living or dead.

  The one I attended recently was much better than the ones I used to do. The speaker talked quite a bit about the person who died. He read a paper that her grandchild had written about her and it was really heart warming. It really surprised me.

  i am a member of the quilters club.

  we are fundrasing for the club by raffling off a quilt.

  yesterday i decided to go "door to door" selling the raffle tickets in the neighbourhood.

  She wanted the quilt so she got her husband to get her ticket. It didn't matter if it was wrong to buy a ticket.

  before the introduction of the largest library on the planet...the internet...did you young jws use the awake magazines as a source for doing your homework and trust the contents to be accurate for reports?

  i remember reading letters from readers just drooling with thanks for giving their kids the edge over those poor worldly kids who had to trapse to the library to do their research.

  I remember doing one paper on evolution, I chose the subject because the teacher believed evolution. I used the Awake's quotes as though I had looked them up. I did get a good grade on the paper though.

  Has anyone seen this research on 607 and the Watchtower?

  i was recently searching the web for information on 607 to discuss with my wife and i came up with this.

  http://www.jehovahsjudgment.co.uk/607/default.html these people say that they are proving the watchtowers 607 date correct.

  i am convinced that the watchtower is wrong because of all the other things that i have researched but i would welcome any feedback.

  What difference does it make? The date 1914 has proven to mean nothing as far as God or Christ doing anything.

  i believe in god ... but not because of any watchtower teaching.

  it is actually fun to look back and see how they applied very poor logic and nonsense to try and prove their point.

  today, the (c) 1998 watchtower book, "is there a creator who cares about you" was placed with me at the door.

  How Often Do You Come To JWD During A Day, Week or Month??? Hours or Mins?

  now i make about 15 posts , if that,.

  per day and read a few other threads that interest me.

  I spend about 3 or 4 hours a day reading all the post here, don't post much myself. I get up before my wife and play on the computer until she wakes up. It gives me something to do each day.

  when a jw says they read the whole bible, or they try to in a year do they really mean they read the 'study in scriptures' book?

  I remember back in the early 50s we read the entire bible in the ministry school, a few chapters at a time. The book of Cronicals where someone begat someone was really interesting.
