by Witness 007 inso this morning we flirt and i tell her what a "dirty girl" she is for buying those books...but i was thinking this from a girl who broke a frying pan on my car years ago because i didnt want to go to the meetings.
slowly i wore down that rock that she is with little facts and qoutes...i would not have stayed with her if she remained the fanatic witness she was....also she now swears like a sailor...i like that..

It's so badly written that when I read an sample of it I thought it was a spoof/parody.
If she wants to explore this kind of thing there is much better out there! Have a search!

Dating as a JW
by BU2B inthe jws have a way of either eliminating or making miserable the things most people find to be highlights of their lives.
when i started dating my now wife, and yes i married the first person i ever dated at age 19 by the way, what should have been a great time became mostly miserable.
her parents didnt make it any easier.

I am forever thankful now that I didn't date anyone while I was in (well, only once for a few weeks). It was bad enough just talking to a brother, everyone would stare, whisper & gossip.
They turn anything normal & nice into something horrible. Chaperoning is all about being "seen" to do the right thing, as BU2B says, anyone who genuinely wanted to meet up in private could do so, most people have cars anyway. So why not just let people be adult?
Wedding nights must be strange....for some people it must be the first time they are unchaperoned?
How do you know if you are compatible or not?

Are we all bitter?
by LouBelle ini posted a link on fb that lead to a topic here.
i then had one of my 'friends' start having a go about how bitter everyone is here....fact he said.
(he used to be a jw elder but left a while back, not sure why he left or if he has even researched the faith since leaving) the more i tried to reason with him that actually it is a support forum, the more he lashed out that everyone here bad mouths the jw's and only attack the jw's.

Yes, a little bit bitter.
It comes & goes.
Sometimes I will be in a situation that brings up something from the past & it will hit me hard.
that's why this forum is great, no one else understands this (except if they were in another cult)
i spent 20 years never talking about these things, so I think it's good to get it out.
if someone is not bitter, well, many people had quite benign experiences of the JW. I've met a few who drifted in & out easy, people whose parents still let them have friends at school, play sport etc etc Many had extended family that they were close to....this obviously acted to dilute the affects of the org.
Maybe these guys don't need a forum.

Do You Believe In ANYTHING That The Witnesses Taught At This Point In Your Life?
by minimus infor example, they pride themselves in what they don't believe such as immortal souls, the trinity, hellfire, etc.. some exjws still believe it is the "truth" and support the basics.. .

I believe absolutely nothing from the WTBTS.
I do believe that the dead are conscious of nothing, I think I may have felt that regardless of upbringing.

My husband MISSED the meeting today! Unheard of!
by Julia Orwell inhe decided to take me somewhere nice in the country for a day instead, and when he suggested it last night i was amazed that he would have even thought of missing the meeting!
he was one of those guys who only missed a meeting, literally, if he had a spinal injury and couldn't move!.
but, i've been sharing a little of the ttatt with him, teensy tiny bits that i can substantiate from the bible or other reputable sources.

I think there really is a double standard amongst JW, kind of like the military & "don't ask, don't tell"
I was DFd for immorality, yet I have family members who slowly faded & then had children out of wedlock :) pretty convincing evidence of immorality there. But no DF, because they are off the radar, so to speak.
Enjoy, if that's what you've got, but, remember this situation only exists because no one has confronted it.
good luck to you!

Welcome Shirley, thanks for posting your story.
One thing that stuck out for me was your field service comments. I also hated FS. But I wondered, if you genuinely believed that you had a life saving message, if Armageddon really was approaching....wouldn't you get that message out in the most effective way?
Wouldn't you use your money to run infomercials (like that sham wow guy?)
wouldn't you advise all young JW to go to university & set up JW social groups on campus?
Wouldn't you encourage socialisation with the world so they can hear the good news about Jehovah?
all of these things would be more effective than door to door, but it drags on. Really to keep the rank and file busy, nothing more.
Good luck to you Shirley, look forward to hearing more!
