  I see little good left in WTS

  i think most of us accept that the wts has done some good, but as the years pass, i find that the good i thought they did is getting less and less, and more importantly, the harm caused is getting greater than i could possibly imagine.. you continued, "can we reject what they have pressed to the world: god has a name, his kingdom is to solve mans problems, the earth is to become a paradise as god purposed, man will live endlessly on earth as intended, those who died will return in a resurrection of the dead rather that burn in hell, and this good news is to be preached in all the earth.".

  at this point in my life, after 25 years of being a jw and now an ex-jw, i find their message, its very root concepts, pure fantasy that may not necessarily god's will.

  "Any group that has developed its central teachings can say the same sort of thing. I could start a church that says wearing Green is wrong. And, then, when I boast, I can say, "Well who else do we know that teaches it is wrong to wear Green, only my group is doing this all-important work. And, when people leave my group, what is the first thing you see them do? They start wearing Green, so that shows the devil has hot hold of them. The whole premise that the WTS is teaching 'basic' truths is flawed, and makes their claim irrelevant."

  Wow, I love how you put that!!!! Really shows how silly there reasoning is, doesn't it!!!

  this is sort of a take-off of the "what should the wt do" thread.. i need to get together a board of directors and elect a president and officers.

  we need to figure out a doctrine, a manifesto, and a set of disciplinary rules.

  we need to figure out a way to fund our new movement.

  Ok I want to be in charge of Catering and Food at all functions and a live in cook at Beth-Serim. I love to cook!!!! Yipee!!!!

  I vote for the name Sir. Simon, seems fitting to me!

  I'll be sure to be at least 2/3's full of 'spirt' while cooking and hosting, I'll need some kitchen staff and wait staff too, so any volutneers!!! (you'll get to munch in the kitchen :) )

  Some Rottwielers roaming around would have a nice feel,

  HMM When I left I never looked back. I didn't miss a single meeting, study, service day, mags, none of it, and I don't think I ever will. But I've always been I either love it or hate it kinda person, I loved it, then when I learned the 'truth' about the truth I hated it (as in hate what is wicked of course :)).

  Bravo Englishman, I coulnd't have put it better myself. There is a real commerodity among posters and they know your background and feel your pain and loss, something non JW's could ever do. I feel that it has really helped me to grow and move on, and release my hangups, much faster then those that are not online. I know some that have been out for years, and I feel that I've progressed beyond them in recovery and making a new life and I know that my involvment on the diff boards deffenatly helped. I enjoy so many of the posters and am glad to see some friends from H2O joining us. This board truly offers support and comfort, and whole lot of humor, which is vital in a healthy life.

  Jehovah's Happy People

  my parents are witnesses and my brother who has been inactive most of his life still says it is the truth.

  they are all very unhappy people.

  i got to thinking about it and i can't recall ever knowing any witnesses who were very happy.

  Well I must say I had a very happy childhood, even though I was raised a JW. My Dad was PO, City Overseer, on the RBC for 12 years, mom pioneerd for 20 + years, and I pioneerd for 4, my sister for 8. As you can see we were very active JW's, but we knew how to have a good time. We laughed through everymeeting, and so did whoever sat by us, Dad would threaten to seperate Mom and me, because we'd laugh so much, but I just found everything so funny. I had to go out to the bathroom several times because I was laughing so hard, and if I held it in any longer I'd have started snorting, I hate that!!!! OHHH we has some of the funnies meetings, and stories from service, we used to keep the kids at school entertained with stories. I thought it was becase we were JW's, but I guess it's more appropoate to say we were happy inspite of being JW's. I guess it's just my disposition or how I react to things, If I'm nervous, bored or uncomfortable I find the humor in things. I got that from my Mom and I'm so glad I did. Looking back I realise that my Mom fought for us to have fun, and we did. Mayebe were just happy people, or maybe it's true "ignorance is Bliss"!
