  what, you ask, am i talking about?

  well, last week at my mother in law?s meeting, a letter was read, which was subsequently relayed to us (and any other heathens who might have transgressed the list of holy hotels).

  It is not unusual for groups booking large blocks of rooms to receive complementary rooms. In fact, many years ago, I actually shared a comp room at the DC with a visiting pioneer brother from another country. I'm not sure how I got that lucky.

  But, yes, they most certainly do receive free rooms based on occupancy.

  And there's nothing wrong with that. That's standard procedure for lots of companies.

  What's not okay is "forcing" people to use only the listed hotels. If I decide that the hotels on the list are not up to my standards and I'm spending my money to secure lodging, I'll stay where I damn well please and no amount of dirty looks is going to change that.

  if a religious organization has to publish an article on why it's not a cult, shouldn't that make you wonder why they have to defend themselves?.

  any organization that tells you that you can't trust any information about itself from any source outside that organization has to make you wonder if they are hiding something.. why join an organization, group or club that does not allow its members to leave later without serious repurcussions?

  usually one thinks of crime syndicates, political upheaval groups, etc in these situations.

  Good point. Back in the early days, the Bible Students abhored being considered an organized "religion". Religion was a dirty word. That's when the phrase "Religion is a snare and a racket" came about. Fast forward many decades later(hmm, what happened to Armageddon?) now they consider themselves a "religion". The "snare and racket" thing has been dropped and they consider themselves the "one, true religion". They still manage to segregate themselves from the masses by labeling everyone else "false" and themselves "true".

  I'm all for blocking rooms for a disccount price and letting those with large families or on a limited income have the cheaper rooms, but those that are fortunate enough to afford higher end accomodations should not penalized just because the WTS hasn't "approved" of that particular hotel. Every convention we went to, they ran out of rooms and had to add a suplemental list later. Even then it wasn't always enough. If there's going to be a shortage, then let those who can afford to, get rooms whereever they want and save the cheaper rooms for those that need them.

  Even though this arrangement could save some people money, there did seem to be an underlying control factor at issue. To not abide by the list, you were ostracized. It's a hotel room, for God's sake. It's not a commandment or even a principle anywhere in the Bible that indicates that by not following a "recommended" list of rooms you were disloyal to God.

If your considering a joining a religion that does, think twice about joining.

  A religion that spends more time teaching its memebers how to sell product than how to intrepret scripture is not a religion but a marketing organization.

  Factual information despite its source is still factual information. To discount true, factual information because you don't like the source is ignorant and foolish.

  Truth does not change.

  Religion is a snare and a racket (well, they got one right anyway).

  Lap Dancing

  a friend of mine gave me a free ticket to a lap dance club tonight, and ive just got back from there.

  its the first time i've ever been to one so i was intrigued as to what it was all about.

  after going there i dont know what to make of it.

  I kinda like strip clubs. It's a fantasy thing, I guess.

  Some areas are very strict on what happens in a lap dance, others are very loose. I've had some where you basically had to sit on your hands and about all she could touch you with was her hair. Not much for your 20$ in that. Others, though, have been well worth the money. In fact, I got more than I bargained for one time. It was definately a disfellowshipping and scriptural divorce situation. I know I'll never top that experience again so now I just watch the runway and tip the dancers there and don't worry too much about the back room.

  The word intercourse by itself does not mean sex. The word intercourse can be used in numerous ways. I am assuming (without reading all the stuff about this book or writer) that the writer means we must have intercourse with God as in conversation not unlike what we would have with another human being. This would be a form of social intercourse.

  If I'm wrong and they do mean something kinky or perverted then I guess they are pretty twisted.

  I loved driving in England and Scotland. Roundabouts are great. They move traffic so much more efficiently than Amercian intersections.

  I did bust my knuckles of my right hand on the door a few times when I went to shift gears. After a while I just left my left hand on the gear shift all the time.

  The motorways were very similar to US Interstates, no problems there. The country roads were so fun to drive. The traffic in London was rough though. I was definately out of my league there.

  You're no apostate? So your movement has God's spirit on it? Does the normal movement have God's spirit? I can't see that it can if you have it. Why save a religious order that doesn't have God's spirit? Why not start your own independant movement?

  I never said we were good witnesses, I said we are Super Jehovah's Witnesses. We are a progressive movement for re-organisation within the movement of the religious order of Jehovah's Witnesses.

  So, if you were to take over and reorganize then that means the last 120 years or so of the WTS claiming to be the FDS is proven false?

  Or, if you fail, then you are an apostate by failing to recognize God's earthly organization and following their lead?

  Hmmm, quite the dilemna.
