About every meeting I ever attended at the KH, or assembly/convention was a 'zone' meeting. As soon as it started, I zoned right out, and came to during the closing song/prayer...

An Announcement That Will "Test Your Faith"
Dear Brothers and Sisters, It is time to prove your faith to Jehovah's Earthly Organization. In this time, deep in the end of the system of things, Jehovah has made his Faithful Slave aware that in his upcoming war on wickedness, that it will be so intense that even his faithful followers on the sidelines will be caught up in the destruction. To avoid dying at Armaggedon, of which there is no resurrection, our brothers on the Governing Body have find an alternative way into the New System. On the tables at the back of the room, you will find cups filled with a fruit juice. By partaking of this Holy Juice, you not only are passing this test of your faith, but you will soon awake in the New System, free of this old world and its wickedness. After everyone has a cup, we will sing a Kingdom Melody, and share in the partaking together. Parents should help their children before taking their own drink. Now, let us line up in an orderly fashion, ready to prove ourselves worthy of Jehovah's mercy and kindness as we join Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and Noah in awaiting our everlasting paradise...

Does The State Have The Right To Quarantine Someone Because They Might Have Ebola?
by minimus inno doubt you have heard about the nurse that thumbed her nose to the state and went out of the house in spite of being ordered to stay at home.
what is your opinion on this?.

She had a 100+ degree fever when she returned. That is what brought attention to her.
From the news report that I read, it said she had a temperature at the airport, but was normal at the hospital. She also tested negative for the virus. Forced quarantine would be unnecessary at this point. Asking her to come in every couple days for a check up and blood sample would not be too much to ask, however.

She had no temperature at the hospital, she tested negative for the the virus. No need for quarantine.
Contrary to popular paranoia, Ebola is not a threat in this country.
Here's an example of how paranoid people are to Ebola. I've read about two school systems in this country who are going to require school teachers who spent time in South Africa and East Africa to remain on a 21 day leave when they return. These teachers were further away from Ebola outbreaks and victims than either of the school systems in the states. One school was in Oklahoma, the other in North Carolina....both of which are closer to Dallas than the teachers were to the infected countries while in Africa. Both schools tried to blame it on parents who expressed concern and don't their kids infected by these teachers. Two stupids don't make a smart.

While I was making light of it, I think this meme is more powerful to people in their 50s and 60s than young ones.
We were young when Paul was young. We were around when the Beatles were still a band. We were alive in 69. We were the ones that were told we would never grow old.
Yet, here we are. Sir Paul is old. Mick and Keith are old (and alive amazingly enough). We're old.
We were told, 'you don't need college', 'you don't need a career', you don't need to worry about retirement'. Yet here we are. Old, staring retirement in the face. Decent job, but never a career. 401K, but didn't take it seriously until I was out.
We were lied to. The proof is in the wrinkles on Paul's face...

I MAY NOT RISE TO HEAVEN BUT I MIGHT FALL FOR HER. JEHOVA WITNESS GIRL.
THERE'S A PICTURE OF DAVID ON PAGE 29.RED HAIRED,FRECKLED AND PROBABLY BLUE EYES.
HE LOOKS JUST LIKE THE SON OF THE LOCAL BAD MAN,CRAZY OLD MIKE CALLAHAN.

AND ONE MORE THING IN COMMON,THEY BOTH WOULD LIKE HER.THE JEHOVA WITNESS GIRL.

The Witness beliefs remind me of the Nazis and ISIS
by NAVYTOWN inthe nazi regime hated jews, gays, jws and other minorities.
so they solved the 'problem' by exterminating them.
the current isis group hates jews and christians and beheads those it considers 'enemies' and 'infidels'.

It's not a big step, at least philosophically, from "do things my way or God will kill you" to "do things my way or I will kill you".
It would be interesting to ask a JW how they feel about the radical Islamic idea of killing apostes. I'm sure they would be against it. Then show them WT statements that lend itself to the same idea philosophically, even though not actually sanctioned

How to make the most of wife not going to service meeting?
by FadeToBlack inout of the blue, my wife told me that after this week's service meeting on friday (co visit) she is not going to anymore meetings during the week at night.
only sunday (am) meetings.
she explained that it is difficult and not safe for her to drive after dark (vision issues: i have the same problem so i couldn't help her if i wanted to).

Parden my ADD mind as I go through some scenerios here...
If she has a good support system at the hall, expect others to offer to pick her up for mid week meetings. The elders might even enlist someone. Be on the on lookout for busybodies...
I also wonder, not knowing anything about the situation... if this is just an excuse on her part to not have to go. She'll go to Sunday meetings for awhile, and find excuses to miss some of them even. Is something going on that has discouraged her?
And on that thought, I wonder this... how many elderly ones are discouraged about the whole 'overlapping generation' thing. If they're a certain age, and they start to realize that they aren't going to live to see 'the end', would that prompt them to slow down?
And as I keep sidebarring... who needs the Kingdom Hall anyway? When you've got 24 hour JW TV, you can get instant spiritual nourishment without even having to put your pants on. Forget putting on a suit and driving in the dark thru a bad part of town to a KH...
Anyhooo... this is the perfect opportunity to use this new free time to get her interested in other things. Together you can enjoy TV shows, or maybe cooking together, hobbies, anything that keeps her occupied. Choose activities that you know interest her, and maybe never had time for before. After awhile, you may find she'll want to share her Sunday mornings with you doing her new favorite activity, instead of going to the hall.
