Research, JW Style

also from the new school book, on page 33, there is a chapter entitled, "how to do research.

" on the right side of the page, there is a box listing appropriate research material:.

which of these research tools do you have?.

And all the while I've been hearing that the only tool we need to refer to is THE BIBLE - not bible-based aids.

i'd like to share with you all a personal experience that i had recently.. i had told a freind about the u.n issue (j.w) and she said to let her know when i got my answer from the governing body about why they joined.. she asked about it, i did not bring it up, and i showed her their response (the standard explanation from brooklyn which you have all seen.).

we then got into a very interesting conversation.. she agreed with me that the explanation was very unacceptable, she did not even try to argue it.. she even accepted that it was wrong of the w.t to do this - i was very surprised.

we got into talking about the governing body, and my problems with it, and she surprised me further when she said that she does not believe that the governing body should be followed or held in as high regard as god or jesus.. she believes that god works through this organisation, but thinks that there are so many problems with j.w's never questioning their stands or logic.

She sounds refreshingly open!

The elders would indeed frown on what she's doing. But she could always justify that she trying to 'reason' with you to bring you back to the fold...that will get them off her back.

I agree with her that others besides just dedicated jw's (face it there ain't any practicing every facet of the religion rigidly - so if God weren't merciful, we'd all perish) - dedicated jw's that committ some rather horrible acts...so if only jw's are to survive, I'm not sure I'm gunna like paradise!!!!!!!!

i would luv the world to see just how rampant abuse is in all walks of life.... can we open it up to other cultures/religions as well?

Child Molestation issues have nothing to do with me studying with Jehovah's Witnesses Prisca...I doubt whether she'd bat an eyelid, just as long as I was noble about the whole thing.

If you are organising a vigil...please let me know so I can show support to our guys here...I don't care where they came from, who they're affiliated with...just as long as it helps the healing process.

Not to get drawn into a debate...but hundreds of cultures have the flood story, granted, varying a little from people to people...but the basic gist of it is there.

They don't deny it happened...why should we so called 'enlightened and educated' believe the primative peoples...

Our enlightenment has gotten us nowhere...has it fixed one problem facing humans today?

Ah! But there IS evidence. Surrounding nations recorded some of the estounding events...separate from the bible account...as they were no part of Israel...they couldn't be biased..except to themselves now could they?
