Yeah, I don't understand why god was against the animals. It's so silly. A plague or scourge as the bible says he caused during Moses time could have rid the earth of pesky humans. What on earth could a flood accomplish that a plague couldn't? The flood is just so much harder and more ridiculous. I think even fundamentalists know that a man made ark could not withstand a global flood almost a year long. So again Holy Spirit and miracles would have to be used. But, if he was going to use miracles then why the gathering of the animals and the ark?

Proof of Noah's Flood - Presently watching a Documentary about Europe & the Ice Age
by *lost* infirst time i ever heard anyone say there was 'proof' of noah's flood.. very interesting,.
showed a trawler, where the team dredges regularly in the north sea - for animal bones, massive land animal bones, mammoths.. he said, originally, the bones were sent for analysis, and the dr stated, they were proof of noah's flood.. the north sea area was a land mass of dry grazing lands.
and it was very similar to africa.. many bones were found in london, of lions, hippos, etc ... when they were digging out the underground.. .

Got Home From a Business Meeting This Evening-Kids Were Watching JW DVD
by PaintedToeNail ini had a business meeting this evening, hubby elected to stay home with the kiddies (he could have come with me), as he said "you need a break, have some time alone'...so considerate...so i thought.
upon returning home, he had popped one of the new dvd's released at the convention, don't know the title, of some young brother who gets fired from a job and goes for a drink with a buddy from work.
it is very annoying that he pulls these little tricks on me, act like he is doing me some favor or being considerate then pulling one of these jwisms...like the time he booked an appointment with a physchiatrist, and he wanted me to go along to discuss his insecurities in our marriage because i had learned ttatt...he conveniently left out the part where the doctor is a jw.

Yikes. Sorry as I can imagine the feeling of betrayal and anguish that they may be being brainwashed. Hang in there.

Okay, but think about. "Smart people" will try to tell you that the earth is always changing and that millions or billions of years ago some land was under water and now it is out of water. That doesn't make any sense! Isn't it more logical to conclude that the flood placed that shell there? I'm trying to figure out how the coral and plant life survived. But, it's all making sense now.

Does your Theology Align with Reality?
by cofty inthesits are fond of reminding us that science cannot prove there is no god, and in this they are correct.
however, science should not be dismissed so lightly by anybody who values a faith that is more than a mere fantasy.. theologians like john shelby spong have shown the intellectual honesty to embrace the truths that science has discovered and adapted their religious beliefs to take account of reality.
sadly many theists lack the courage to do likewise.

Seraphim is English your first language? I'm not being rude I am curious. I don't usually get what you are getting at.
Slim I see what you mean when you post your questions... I get it, but honestly it just seems like your playing a little game instead of contributing. If god was playing a grand game on us and tricking us, then we still only have the falsified and faked evidence in front of us to work with. So we need to work with what we have.
Cofty interesting topic. I feel completely different toward those that accept facts and find a way to allow faith to exist alongside it, than I do about those that deny facts and refuse to see the truth.

my first post and some questions
by wallievase inthis is my first post after deciding to finally open an account here after months of 'lurking'.. a couple of issues i want to address-.
i have issues with people who go from being a witness to losing all faith in god or the bible which seems to be the case with some members of this site.
i just don't think you can let any religion change how you view god or the bible.. second-i don't feel the gb are bad people, i think most witnesses including them are misguided by something that has been drilled into their heads since they were little and are actually sincere people.

Welcome Wallie. I'm glad you joined. I guess if you went back and looked at my posts I'd be the type that lost faith in religion and faith in the bible/god. But, don't let that scare you. I'm still a nice guy who has a much greater appreciation for my life and the earth I live on now. I personally would say I'm just not sure about god. But, I too think he wouldn't care a bit WHAT religion you were as long as you tried. I just take one step further. I don't think he even cares if I am of a religion as long as I live a good life and give back as much as possible.
Lately we've argued on here a lot over god and the bible and similar stuff. But, everyone here is a kind caring person. We are really glad you have joined us. It can be very overwhelming. Just remember that the end is NOT coming. This world will go on and on. Billytheexbethelite told me just relax. Go slow. Take your time learning and don't dump on your family. You need to get out if that witness mindset of thinking you need to act now. Just go slow and relax.
Best wishes. Look forward to hearing more from you and interacting.

Guys I've been thinking bout this a lot. The more I think the more sense a real flood makes. I once found a fossilized sea shell in Arkansas. So.... I'm converting to a believer in the global flood. From now on I'll have to argue on the side of the global flood.

Fading hurts so much!!
by ILoveTTATT inyet another update on my story:.
for various reasons, i still have to go to all meetings.
(i am looking to change my personal circumstances to allow me to live somewhere else so i can fade easier)... i actually don't mind going to the mid-week meeting since i can comment on the bible reading, and slowly but surely i can introduce little seeds of cognitive dissonance... making it seem like i am super interested in what the interlinear says or that people can actually go and check out the manuscripts for themselves online!

I'm an alcoholic thanks to the religion. Haven't had a drink though now in a long time. Watch the numbing?
