Is there really any point in debating the meanings of their teachings? It's all just group-speak anyway, used to keep the jws both fearful of not being jws and proud to be card-carrying members who believe in the mantra "WE are better than everyone else, WE are the only ones that god really loves, better do what WE say or you'll die." The watchtower real estate corp is just another version of Jim Jones and every other wacko charismatic "preacher of the good news." -

Separated from a loveless Marriage
by PLAYGROUND ini don't know where to start.

some months into the marriage things where discovered.

Hi, Playground -- sometimes the hardest thing is when your inner voice tells you to do the right thing but it goes against the social structure of those you associate with. But you must remember this: Abuse only gets worse. Always. You do not deserve to live the rest of your life in a horrible marriage because some men called elders tell you that you should.
PLEASE know that you have a right to a happy life, and that you are not the only jw this has happened to. And getting divorced, if it comes to that, is not a df'ing offense. You cannot worry about what other people think of you and your situation. You must remember your life is precious, you are precious, and you must protect yourself. You deserve to be happy -- happy, not miserable.
Please trust your heart. You know this is wrong. You must get out of this situation somehow. You can count on the friends here on this board to support you and give you good advice. Please, if there's any way for you to move to a new area, do that. You'd be amazed at how much inner strength you can have. Remember what freddo (an elder for twenty years) said a few posts ago -- he said get out, get out now, get as far away from the situation as possible. Why? Because he's seen what happens when women don't. He doesn't want you to be abused, he wants you to be happy. We all want you to be happy. Please think about this. I know you're in a tough spot, maybe it seems like you can't get out, but think about the advice you'd give your best friend if you knew this was happening to her -- would you want her to stay and take it, or would you want her to protect herself and get away? It won't be easy, but please be your own best friend in this. Love yourself. This has to be all about you and protecting yourself now.Warm hugs, wishing you strength to make new choices. cBg

06, there is nothing that cannot be forgiven with unconditional love.
Please do not continue to beat yourself up.
If you believe in God, then you need to know that he is not condemning you. You are only repeating what you've been falsely taught. It is not truth, and you are not wicked.
You are a dear person who has not received the love and support he should have. You are worthy of love, not punishment. Please think on these words.
hugs to you

Sometimes when we focus on what may happen after life, we forget to truly live now. Those who are gone do live on in our memories and the wonderful stories we are able to share about them. Wishing you peace. -

New Watchtower-- the End is coming in our lifetime again now??
by FusionTheism inthey just posted the simplified august study watchtower on jw.org.. paragraph 11 of the "expectation!
" article says this:.
"so even if we feel that we have been waiting a long time, this does not mean that the end is far away or that it is not coming in our lifetime.".

I could have sworn we were at or on "the threshold"...so someone must have closed the door again. -

How do you feel when you see the Witnesses in the door to door work? Angry, Sad, or dumbfounded?
by John Aquila inim here sitting and listening to youtube video songs and practicing on my guitar and checking out posts on jwn.
and one more thing, im seeing the spanish jws going door to door in my street.
they work my street every single week.

Bungi Bill put it well.
The last time I saw them on my street there were two teenaged girls in dowdy long skirts being followed by an older man (that was creepy, really). I was in the kitchen and heard a barely audible tap on the front door, but by the time I'd gotten there the girls were far down the street I don't remember what they left in the door, but I do remember my impression that they certainly did not want to actually engage anyone at the door as they barely made any noise.
I was like that for quite a time at before I faded. Really did not want to talk to anyone as I thought what we had to say was embarrassing.

Damned if they do, Damned if they don't
by FusionTheism ini see an attitude among some people here which is not very helpful.
i can understand it, but still, it's not constructive or helpful.. if you condemn the society for not changing, but then you also condemn them when they do change in a positive way, what incentive or motive does that provide for the people at the society to ever want to change for the better?.
also, what does that attitude look like to current witnesses who are having doubts?.

Fusion...only the sheeple/jws are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Think you mixed up your subjects here... -

Spiritual AMNESTY -- Return to Jehovah
by FusionTheism inbasically, from what i can tell from the new return to jehovah brochure, is that the governing body is now offering amnesty to anyone who has been gone from the congregation but now wants to return.. it claims it doesn't matter what sins you've done, or what caused you to leave, if you repent to jehovah and ask the elders to help you, and return to the meetings, you'll be warmly welcomed with no disciplinary action or judgment against you..

Funny how those still in cannot seem to grasp the very simple fact that we left because we realized it's a bunch of hooey...not because we "sinned" (as if there is any such thing). We are not miserable and aching to return, for that would be like a dog returning to its vomit. We are simply happy to be rid of the oppressive cult strings that once tied our hands and brains and choked our real selves almost to death.
Life outside is a breath of fresh, beautiful, life-sustaining air for which we are all most grateful.

So Stillin, if both of your kids are non-jw, what's keeping you "in" other than your wife? Just curious, thanks for letting me ask.
