Witnesses going rogue - trying to blend in with the world
by BluePill2 init's been a couple of years now since i left the pink-pony-world of the watchtower real estate & money laundering inc.. out of curiosity i researched a couple of "brothers" to see if they are still in, what they are up these days, etc.
using linkedin, facebook, and other online research i come up with this:.
1. branch committee member lothar mihank (formerly in nicaragua, now branch committee in indonesia) presents himself in linkedin as "ceo of ssyi" and tries to pass the borg as some kind of corporation (which is what they are).

by BluePill2 inbefore i dive into the actual write-up of this experience, let me put some things straight.. i have thought long and hard if i should write more about my experiences during the 10+ years at different branches.
during these years i worked from financial department, service department, home office and different it assignments.
as you can imagine one sees and hears and reads a lot of stuff going through different stations in different countries.

Gerritt Loesch life story .... Total hypocrisy
by Skinnedsheep inas written in the july 15 2014 wt.
what gerrit used to believe and teach.... the roman catholic teaching of apostolic succession claims that there is an unbroken succession of popes in a line extending all the way back to the apostle peter.
(the church misinterprets jesus words that are quoted at matthew 16:18, 19.

Awesome, thanks Splash and ILoveTTATT for the great work!
Love the idea of a laminated wall poster...trouble is, it would have to be reprinted every year.

Did you count the time for your "hour talk"?
by compound complex inhi fellow speakers (sorry, brothers only!):.
my first public talk, given in my early 20s, was actually a twenty-minute part of a symposium talk.
my pioneer partner friend and i each had twenty minutes and a "servant" had the concluding part.

Hey, pioneers count all their time when they take unbaptized ones shopping...and to and from the meetings...and I daresay a few count all the time at the meeting as well.

Misappropriation of funds (Project for an Assembly Hall in Guadalajara)
by avaddohn94 inat the extj.com forum, a very serious scandal is being discussed regarding a potential misappropriation of funds by mexico's branch.. http://www.extj.com/showthread.php?24740-denuncia--quot-proyecto-fantasma-quot-salon-de-asambleas-de-guadalajara-o-robo-de-fondos.
though the situation may not be quite uncommon, below you will find an overview:.
a member of mexico's branch committee went to guadalajara to inform the brothers that a plot of land had been donated for the construction of an assembly hall.

Dressed for Failure--drab colors in dress code
by WTWizard ini noticed that, especially for men, that they are required to dress in drab colors for boasting sessions and in field circus.
men are supposed to wear dirty colored suits--dark gray, muddy brown, black, and off-shades of maroon, forest green, and navy/midnight blue seem to be most common.
they get hounded if they wear something in a "loud" color--meaning anything that is near one of the major points in the rainbow and near saturation (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or violet is most likely to result in a major hounding).

Don't belive the whole "dress code" thing was official but we were told to be MODEST in dress and appearance...otherwise we would reflect badly on...the wts? Other versions of this were not to distract the householder from our message by our worldly clothes, as we had to be "higher" than church-goers. yadda yadda blah blah blah
Just another form of control.
Where we live, wearing "ho" clothes has never kept anyone off the stage.

Advice, Opinions, Please!
by mellojello indo any of you sometimes experience difficulty in shaking wt teachings?
like it intrudes in your daily life and thought and some things that may be alright, now you feel as if they're wrong or you plain just don't know.
i know the wt is a lie but i haven't lost my faith in god, i know he's there but it's hard knowing whats the right thing to do.

Hi, Mello!
Learning to think and reason for yourself is SOOO liberating!
Funny...we used to be taught in jw-land that while "other" religions have rules, jws have only "principles". Sadly that's also just another lie as jws are simply buried in rules.
You, however, actually get to choose to live by whatever wonderful principles of life you set up for yourself!
If I had to pick just one, it would be to treat everyone else with kindness (do unto others...) simply because it works. And it refines us individually.
Btw, satan is a mythical figure made into a giant villian by the jws to scare you into obedience. He's not any more real than santa claus or the monster in your closet.
And most people are just really searching for answers too...we all just want to be happy.
(((((((((((hugs)))))))))))

Faithful, love to read your thread about your "study" sessions!
I know what you mean about being blindsided with crazy statements and not having a ready answer, but just turn the tables on these ladies. When I was out annoying people at their homes, we were taught that if we didn't know the answer to a question at the door, we should write it down and tell the householder we would return with an answer.
Soooo....stop Miss K&W the next time, and say "Wait, I want to be sure I get this right" and proceed to slowly make them repeat what they said. Say each word as you write it down. Then read the whole thing back to them slowly. It not only gives you control of the conversation but may even make them realize how stoopid their comments sound when they hear them echoed back.
Either way, it's a win for you as you have control.
