how long before you felt refreshed and new?
by losingit inwaking up from jw-land is an extremely exhausting process.
about 3 years ago, i attended a month-long institute for grad school students.
during this time, i was surrounded by people from all over the united states and had active, deep conversations with so many about personal topics, such as religion and divorce.

All appointed men are being told they have to pioneer now!
by stuckinarut2 inyes, you read correctly..... all appointed men have been told in a new letter that they have to pioneer to "set the lead" whenever there is a "special" campaign month.
they use some scripture saying that these ones have to show by example.... so for any of us who are appointed and have learned ttatt, it is going to be very hard to fade during this time!.

Commitment
by goddidit ini always wondered why jws found it so hard to just walk away once they decided they didn't believe anymore.
surely all they have to do is stop going to the meetings, i thought.
i imagined there must be more to it than i could see but i might never know.

Well let's see. As a jw you are taught that:
1. You will die at Armageddon if you are not a jw.
2. Your children will die too.
3. If your family member walks away, you may never speak to them again because they are an evil apostate doing satan's work.
If you were born into the religion cult, you know no other way of life.
1. All your family members are jw...who will disown you and not speak to you if you leave.
2. You don't know how to socially function in the real world with real people.
3. Your job skills are limited because you were taught it's wrong to attend college (satan is alive and well in college) because the end of the world is coming SOON, and your only job skill is washing windows for a jw who will let you go if you leave.
There are lots more reasons but I'm late for work! Consider this a starter list... :)

Losingit, I went through severe illness at the end of my stay in jw-land. Sometimes we become so drained after putting out so much emotionally that our body tells us, "Hey, slow down and let me heal. I need some time to recover."
Rather than medication, you could try this: Give Yourself Permission to Not Feel Guilty
It worked wonders for me. We were given a bitter pill to swallow as a jw...constantly being told we didn't do enough, we should preach more, we should study more, we should be perfect, we should we should we should blah blah blah....the wt leads you to Crapland emotionally. Plus you've been through the ringer in your family situation. Been there, done that, failed marriage at the end, no money, too much responsibility...it truly is exhausting and not everyone "gets" that.
You need time to recover from the emotional blows you've been dealt.
BUT it's important to do one thing each day to make yourself feel better. Taking a shower or long soothing bath...putting on some clothes other than pajamas...getting outdoors always helps, no matter the weather. Some find they do well in couseling. Others go the self-help route through reading and discussion. Maybe both are needed.
Love yourself. Take it one day at a time. Be thankful for your children and boyfriend. You will get there...you have a wonderful life ahead of you.
(((((hugs)))))

The Ransom for Nitwits
by Farkel inmark 10:45: "for even the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.".
1 timothy 2:5-6: "for there is one god, and one mediator between god and men, the man christ jesus; who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.".
the ransom that was taught for the first 1,000 years of christianity.

Thanks for bumping this. Does anyone else find themselves kicking their own behinds for not recognizing some of these illogical nonsensical mind trips we allowed the wts to take us on?

What do you do when your job makes you wanna puke your face off?
by Julia Orwell ini'm talking like makes you physically sick and emotionally frazzled just thinking about it.
i'm talking like you hate it to the point you'd rather go without than work at it just for the money.
you'd live on cheap korean packet noodles for the next year instead of exchanging your labor for this job's money.. well, this is how i feel about teaching and tutoring.

Another night, another JW dream
by MrMonroe insuch a ripoff when you dream you're back at the damn meetings.
i once dreamed a local (rather liberal-minded) elder, jack hoogendoorn, was smoking a cigar while he was giving a talk on the platform.. last night i was back there again: one elder who suddenly decided he was going to be "encouraging" gave me the latest stats on baptisms, while someone else i was meant to go witnessing with was not-so-subtly probing me about how many magazines i'd been placing lately.
i chose not to tell them i had decided against placing mags any more.
