I ruined Thanksgiving

that's right folks.

had thanksgiving at my house this year with about 25 people.

i decided to run over tile in the kitchen wearing slipper (because that's what intelligent people do of course) .

Think of all the good things you caused....your reputation of klutz is now without dispute. You'll be the butt of jokes & "hey remember when....." stories for decades to come. Which means - you'll never be forgotten! Eh? Eh? pretty good, eh?

And you get to drive a different vehicle for a while - that ain't shabby.

And you get to watch a lot of tv -

And hopefully your friends will feel so sorry for you they'll bring you lots of holiday food.....

which means you get to diet the first months of next year.

Well, that sucks.

Whenever I see your name as the author of a thread.........the thread's worth the read.

If there were no "critical times", then there would be no "sighing", then there would be no urgency needed because Armageddon would be afar off (or never) - and no need to go knocking on doors & 5 meetings a week - and no need for the WTBTS.

Therefore, the WTBTS teaches bogus history - only what they want the Jehovah's Witnesses to read.

hello.........this is a first for me- i've been reading some of your messages for some time now, and i must say you guys study your watchtower far better than i ever did.

i'm still a part of the congregation (and an elder), but i have to say i agree with many of your criticisms of the organization.

we've become just like the pharisees that jesus condemned............at our last assembly, the do and co warned against apostate material over and over again..........so i certainly think you're having a tremendous impact on their actions.

Welcome - I've not read the entire thread, nor all your responses. I'm an inactive 30yr jw woman, South Carolina.

Xjw forums and all the absolutely marvelous websites on the internet with WT doctrine, quotes, history, and chatting/arguing/learning/laughing......well, hope you stick around as literally thousands of other jw's have done.

No matter where you find yourself next year at this time - your jw viewpoint will be broader.

1999 yearbook 3,802 congregations in japan.

newly reported figure 3,163 congregations.

france had 1685 congregations (1998 yearbook).

A LOT of religions flood the 3rd world countries.....fertile ground of uneducated people. Same way tobacco companies do. Even the infant formula makers do that.

All in an effort to show these people that they can be like the Industrial countries with better living standards.

Hopefully, computer access with continue to grow along with education for children. Most likely (as in all other countries) the second & third generations will grow away from the WTBTS cult.

Long live the Internet & Jehovah's Witnesses who've found FREEDOM escaping the WTBTS.

Just lost our parents....

well, the shunning begins.

we finally had "the" discussion with my parents, that we no longer consider ourselves jw's, and a little bit of why we felt that way.

of course, "dad the elder and po" and mom the pioneer dutifully informed us that not only will they be "loyal to the organization" and shun us completely, but that he would immediately let the other elders know, so that proper judicial action could be taken.. it was a heart wrenching discussion, with all of us, including my two young boys (9 and 10) all balling our eyes out.

At least Brandon's parents did cry and tell him that they loved him, but they had to "be faithful to jehovah." He asked them if they believed that they were truly being faithful to Jehovah, or were they being faithful to the organization. You can guess the response.

I have a nephew in this same predicament. He was df'd in his late teens - for doing what the majority of teens do - act pretty much normal.

He's now 32, married to a beautiful wife, with truly precious beautiful children. His parents didn't even come to his wedding. His mother cried to me "I kow her parents think we're evil for not coming to C...... wedding. But I tried to send his new wife a nice gift to make up for it."

They've seen the oldest grandchild 3 times....and the 2 yr old youngest boy - never. His parents met with him 3 times to see grandchild - but never "sharing a meal" ....and their son tried so hard to keep contact - sending videos of kids, cards, etc. His mother finally wrote to him that it was too hurtful to her to see her grandchildren in pictures with Christmas trees etc....and it was necessary for both parents to cut ALL association...but that they still loved the whole family. Really.

My brother in law was telling my husband that C....... was celebrating Christmas. My husband looked at him & said "You know you're only hurting yourself & your wife by shunning C. He's found a new family and happy."

No response.

Btw, my husband was with his jw family visiting an ancient ailing uncle. 4 of the older ones encouraged him constantly to "get back to the meetings" and "read the latest Watchtower." Not once was the Bible even mentioned. JW's are faithful to the WTBTS - not the bible.

Enjoy the family you have - you've earned it. Soooooo many sad - yet encouraging - posts on this thread.

(sorry - it's necessary to vent now & again.)

May the Watchtower be damned for the pain they've intentionally caused.

The Elder Trap.

(i posted this on the kh thread, but that thread has descended into a squabble.

i think it's worth a thread of it's own).. "anyone who thinks that this place is similar to a kingdom hall with elders in control has no clue as to how the commercial world operates.

anyone who thinks that this place is like a kingdom hall controlled by persons with elder-like tendencies is probably going to struggle to hold down a job, make friends other than with those who feel the same way, and will always be struggling against the tide.

Agreed - the KH is designed after the commercial world. Auto dealerships are a good example - there's at least 5/8 managers in any dealership - not including the owner. After all the bosses in the dealership, there's the zone manager. After him, another manager. After him, the home office....and the manager ladder just keeps on going.

But nobody in that dealership has any authority over their employees after hours.

Except one instance. A new car manager got drunk, masturbated loudly while sitting at the table of a local bar/restaurant with two women (neither was his wife), then he proceeded to strut down the aisle with his engorged penis hanging out of his pants - telling all the women to "take their lick."

We heard about it the next morning at another dealership. Btw, that manager was out of our city by sunrise. No joke. Except the locals (at other dealerships) are still laughing about it.

Just thought I'd bring an early chuckle to this thread.

I live in South Carolina - does that make us state neighbors? If so, a double *howdy*.

I also have a wonderful son who's gay - and he made me realize that he was more important than his lifestyle. He's right - and it took a long time, as I had been a jw mother for 25 yrs at the time.

Hello Brandon,

Sorry about your situation ...... but you came out of this with your immediate family in tact. Congratulations! Enjoy your freedom - teach your children not to live in fear, and teach them to really look at all sides.

Are you going to let your children have the fun of learning about holidays? Family get togethers? Trick or treating? The years we've missed.......................

They, of course, said that WE were forcing them to shun us, that it was our decision to break up the family. Unbelievable, isn't it.

I remember thinking that too. I was a jw woman for 30 yrs - but I could never hardline like your parents are doing. Just couldn't - and then stupidly felt guilty about not being able to stifle my love of child. duh.

I hope you and your wife do NOT play by the Organization's rules and attend any Judicial Committee meeting that is held, the same way I would hope that you didn't attend your own lynchings. - scully

Great point! Don't play into their mind games - it's not fair to you or your wife. They will NOT let you make any pertinent points - they're brainwashed, remember?

You're free of them - "teach your children well."

Read, learn, chat, and learn to enjoy your freedom. Perhaps some day, your parents might join you - but they have to make the same steps we all do....and it's hard.

i left the jw's about 15 years ago however my 18 year old son is a witness.

we haven't seen each other for many years and the only contact we have is via the telephone occasionally (all this is cool btw).

Hey Integ,

Good thing you clarified.........I, amongst others, was getting ready to *discuss* with you. Those are, btw, standard jw responses to just about anything - and have nothing to do with the questions asked.

On the issue of God's supposedly killing us at Armageddon (along with the rest of the world) - I was answering as a former jw. I don't know how the Christian Churches define "getting saved".....saved from what or who? Hellfire?

Armageddon is supposed to be the Great War of Jehovah where he magnificantly reigns down fire & brimstone (amongst other natural disasters) onto ALL living things of the earth...killing all of these living beings, - man, woman, infant, child, animal. (The animals might escape by accident - but no human accidents.)

Jehovah God will also kill any adult and minor child of that same adult who professes to be a Jehovah's Witness....but God reads the adult's heart differently. Remember Jesus saying "And I'll say to them, 'I never knew you.'"

Remember what the jw speaker used to say "We'll look around in the New World (or New Order or Paradise) and be surprised to see Bro. So & So. And he'll be really surprised to see us. (laughter). Then we'll look for Sister Mild - knowing that she of ALL Jehovah's People would be here......and she's no where to be found.

Silence in the Hall........we'd best work on being saved By God....From God.

A JW works/prays to be saved at Armageddon from *dying.* What this dying translates to is "being saved by Jehovah from being killed by Jehovah."
