wasasister returns to Kingdom Hall
by wasasister indon't worry, folks...it's only for an hour.
my son-in-law has his first public talk today, and i was invited to attend the event.
it seemed to be very important to him and to my daughter that i be there, so i agreed.

I'm back, all in one piece and without a visit to the back room. The PO wasn't even there, although the hall was packed. This was more likely due to the time of day (my daughter's congregation has the 12:30 meeting time - primo if you want to sleep in and have plans for socializing at night) than to my son-in-law's popularity.
As is usually the case with first-time speakers, my SIL had the second part of a symposium. It was about death and resurrection - same old tired scriptures and not very encouraging: "We're all going to die, we're all sinners, the only hope is to come to the KH..." It went by fast and we snuck out during the middle song, along with abuot 20 others. I got only two brief hugs and one thumbs-up. I think it pleased my daughter and her husband, which was my point in the first place.
It was amusing to see some of the same faces, older and perhaps looking a bit tired. If they noticed a glow about me, it was not because I was back among them, but because I really am beginning to get my "stuff" together.
My (non-Dub) daughter commented as we drove away: "It's like going back to your old school - kind of scary to be there, but you have the freedom of knowing you can leave at any time and tell the teachers to flip-off if you want to..."
Thanks for your kind thoughts. Time will tell if I'm back on the radar. Hopefully the elders have enough to do keeping the faithful in line.

My son-in-law has his first public talk today, and I was invited to attend the event. It seemed to be very important to him and to my daughter that I be there, so I agreed. My daughter's JW father was noticeably NOT invited, so I suppose I should be flattered.
My non-JW daughter has agreed to go with me for moral (or perhaps "immoral") support, so at least I won't feel quite so conspicuous.
For those of you who don't know my history, this will be my first time in my former congregation in almost 4 years; I quiety faded and am not DA'd or DF'd. The same body of elders is still there, with a couple of new additions. I hope my presence does not put me back on their radar, so-to-speak, but I figure it might be worth the risk if I can keep a good rapport with my daughter and son-in-law.
I'll post a few impressions when I return this evening. In the interim, please send good thoughts my way. I'm looking forward to this about like a root canal.
Peace,

My Thanksgiving
by wasasister inginny t, ginny's son, my daughter, me...just finished over-eating, as is the tradition in this country.
we're enjoying a glass of chardonnay, sitting in front of a fireplace, plunking tunes on a grand piano, and looking out at puget sound.
ginny says it reminds her of the west coast of norway.

We're enjoying a glass of Chardonnay, sitting in front of a fireplace, plunking tunes on a grand piano, and looking out at Puget Sound. Ginny says it reminds her of the west coast of Norway. Her son is fascinated by the ferry boats coming and going right outside the window. The scent of herb-roasted turkey still hangs in the air.
The four of us wish you all a happy day of remembering the good things in life. What could possibly be pagan about such a time? Life is good here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We wish you were all here with us (there was certainly enough food!)
Tina: thanks for the call yesterday, Sweetie...you made my day.
UncleBruce: where are ya, Hon? Drop off the bottom of the planet?
Farkel: goodies coming your way soon (you'd love this piano, darlin', wish you could be here to play it)
Norm: We're having salmon tomorrow. You'd love it here!!!
Alan and Julie: Next to scenic Colorado, this is the best place ever. Wish you were here.
You Know: November is almost over, and stocks are climbing back towards 10,000 mark.
Seeker: countdown to movie premier! Can't wait!!!Everyone else....take care, unbutton your pants, have a lovely evening (or morning depending on where you are!)

"...For Jack Daniels.
And Bose.And Boeing.
And Microsoft."
Englishman: one-half of your list comes from my city. Unfortunately, we are also responsible for over-priced boutique coffee, Grunge Rock, and Kenny G. Maybe Jimmi Hendrix can make up for those last two?
I'm grateful for British comedy (Monte Python, Rowland Atkinson, AbFab, everyone else except Benny Hill), Japanese food, Canadian hospitality, Australian charm (you know who I mean), French wines, German beer, Norwegian breakfasts (you know what I mean), African rhythm, and the great Italian - Amerigo Vespucci - for putting us on the map.
I love our international community!

Jehovah raised a Cain
by unclebruce inthe story of cain and abel is as old as the hills and well known to most on this board.
as jehovah's witnesses we swallowed the narrow adventist line and the regular brain numbing sessions never allowed free headspace to think critically about what this bible story is really saying.
recently i got into a discussion with a neighbour about the curse of cain (neville said he always asked bible toting door knockers where cain got his wife from .. easy .. the land of noddy ;).

LET'S MAKE A LITTLE WAGER
by You Know inperhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

... I see no point in carrying on what amounts to private email with a couple of apostate Bozos if the thread is not accessable to the entire board.
How many of us Bozos will it take posting publicly to get you to respond? So far, there are at least three Bozos...anyone else want to join?
