Over here in Britain its practically compulsory to be "on the dole" or in receipt of "disability benefits" before you CAN be a Jehovahs Witness...LOL I used to work for the benefit agency and the amount of "brothers" on some kind of disability benefit was unreal,I would see them at congregation do,s prancing around and volunteering at assemblies and when I turned up to fill in their forms they did a brilliant impression of a paraplegic !! I used to go home and grind my teeth because I was criticised for being one of the only sisters who actualy worked outside of the home. Such hypocrites!

People who pioneer on government assistance
by ilikecheese ini had a chat with my boyfriend about this, and he said that he knows quite a few pioneers who are capable of working but prefer to pioneer with government assistance.
his thought was, "well, it's kind of bad, but at least they're doing something useful/good with their time.
" i know from reading this board that it's a pretty widespread thing.

Yes that was me too. I sold all the "meeting clothes" on ebay and bought stuff that I realy liked to wear, and we suddenly discovered weekends too,I swear my brain got BIGGER and I now get involved more in my community and the people dont have horns on top of their heads I dont know how we could have been so fooled for all those years. FREEDOM!!!

I saw the leaked copy of this article on this site and I told a sister all about it,she was astounded that I knew and said she couldnt confirm or deny it because it wasnt even released yet, cant tell you how delighted I was to tell her about it! Anyway, since then she has not called me to deliver my latest mags to me I suspect that when she mentioned the article ahead of time she was told by the elders that I was an apostate. Excellent I thought I would never get rid of her!

How IGNORANT can you be and still be a Jehovah's Witness in GOOD standing?
by Terry inas i have said many times, i did not really study jw teachings in depth until i went to prison.. i had a period from 1959 to 1967 when i---sort of----could explain things to a shallow depth.
once i entered that profound place in my head (while in federal prison) when everything got serious.....i entered a secret room, so to speak, where.
all the mysteries were hidden!.

Tell you what I was in "the truth" since 1977 and only stopped going to meetings 2 years ago,we both pioneered on and off regularly for years,we lived the truth 24x7 for all those years rarely missing meetings,I thought I studied the deeper things but realy I didnt, I just read what I was told to read, accepted it and then preached what I had learned. I have learned more from this forum about the truth than I ever did in all those years, what an absolute waste of all those years of my life,I will never get them back not ever. Well now I am OUT of the club and have discovered that far from being a lost soul people actualy quite like my company and now I am so involved in life I barely have a free day,I think life is very good now,of course their ignorant, thats how the whole thing works. Ignorance and fear, the two greatest evils.

Rebuttals:"Wait on Jehovah"
by Emery inok i think most of you at some point have come across the apologetic saying "wait on jehovah" from jws whenever an injustice occurs in the organization.
many have also used this expression to abandon evidence against the "truth".
this has easily become one of my biggest pet peeves now since speaking to others about ttatt.

We got sick of hearing that so my husband said to one elder, what exactly are we waiting for? Did Jehovah not give us all we need to survive in his book the bible? So what are we waiting for? a bolt of lightning perhaps? Now when we get asked to "move on" we say"oh but we have,we are now leaving it with Jehovah" .........(confused look).... NOW LEAVE US ALONE!!! it works

Well an old friend found me. Now I'm in her cross hairs to get active again.
by wha happened? inugh.
on one hand i'm glad she's ok. rather sickly.
but once she got word i've been inactive, she's all hot and bothered to get me back to meetings.. "did you attend the memorial this year?".
-

I am using the "Leave it with me I will give it some thought" when I was pressed recently to attend the assembly.

I need some serious advice...
by confusedteenager ini'm almost a year out of high school and of course, i'm not in college.
i'm a pioneer (sigh) with little to no work experience and having a really hard time finding any work.
i want to go back to college, but it's going to be difficult now that i'm a pioneer, and my parents cannot really afford the loans that will incur should i pursue going to college.

Hi,have you discussed this with your parents? Most parents want the best for their children but most of all they want them to be happy. Its not easy when people have expectations of you and of course you will want to please your Mum and Dad,but this life is not a dress rehersal,we only get the one shot at it so it takes strength to speak up politely and kindly and let them know that pioneering is perhaps not for you at this time. If college is out of the question what about getting some more training? and then perhaps later finances may change or a student loan may be available? Talk to them, I wish my daughter had, rather than just going along with what we expected. She left school at fifteen and had to go back to school in her twenties to get a degree,I deeply regret that I encouraged her not get an education years ago. Go on,talk to them, they love you and will want you to be happy in your choices. Good luck.

What do you believe about the bible?
by bethelyellowdollarbag ini'm interested in how we all view the bible?.
let me start by offering three different options:.
a.. a book that at best may have cultural or historical interest but that is it.. b.. a divinely inspired guide that i consult to make important life choices.

I agree with crazy guy,I was drawn to the witnesses because of the bible, but my mistake was to let them tell me what it said and I never realy looked at it myself. I believe the bible is the word of God. This forum has been brilliant for me and my husband in the last three months,we have talked more about the bible than we ever did before, and for once we can all disagree if thats what we want and no one is going to punish us.

What is the qualification for emblem partakers ?
by franticfran ini have just had a sister for lunch and we discussed the increase in emblem partakers last year to an astonishing 12,600. she said "anyone" could just walk in off the street and take the emblems and thats probaly why the numbers have increased so dramatically, but surely elders are only obliged to report the number of" baptised" brothers or sisters taking the emblems?.
