Deluded Cult Speak By Jehovah's Witnesses
by BlindersOff1 inplease give any examples you've heard of jws verbalizing cognitive dissonance , delusional reasoning .
in other words crazy jw logic .like.
one jw mother recently told her son " even if you did have proof it wasn't the truth, i wouldn't want to read it".

I always hated how they used a watch as an example for creationism.
"When you see a watch, you see how intricate it is. It's simply not possible for a watch to build itself. It has a maker. Just as Earth had to have a maker. Therefore, God is real."
***** BUT... GOD CAME FROM NOWHERE. NOBODY MADE HIM. HE'S JUST ALWAYS BEEN. C'mon! ****
I almost got myself reproved (I was an unbaptized publisher) for doubting this little gem. They basically told me to keep my mouth shut.
I also couldn't stand the "The Bible is really God's word, BECAUSE IT SAY'S SO IN THE BIBLE"

December 15 Watchtower --- A New Low in WT Anti-Intellectualism
by Room 215 ini wonder whether any of you took note of the article in the 12/15 study edition wt "the simplified watchtower .. why introduced" i couldn't believe they actually had the temerity to put such tripe into print and onto the record.. i was flat-out astonished with its put-down of vocabulary building and self-improvement:.
one egregious example: " the time spent looking up words and explaining expressions (ostensibly from the "smart people's" watchtower) is now spent gaining an understanding of the scriptures and how they fit into the lesson.".
one jw cited in the article actually blames her college education for causing her to fall into the bad habit of "speaking and thinking a way that was more complicated than necessary.

I wonder how long it will be before they go mainstream & just start doing Powerpoint instead. Nobody will need any books. That will save them tons of money on printing!
The one thing I always respected about the JW's is that you actually use the bible (granted it's a whacked out version) during the talks etc.. When I was a kid, I had to learn the books and how to reference everthing. The same went for difficult words. I see this as another way to get away from having to back up their BS with scripture and fact.

Absolutely not. I haven't been to one since 2001. Even if I did believe in the sentiment, I would never subject myself to or support the JW perversion of it. The memorial is the cherry on their sick little sundae. They track the attendance and try to make themselves feel like a bigger ORG than they actually are.
Although growing up I liked it because I always got a new dress. Also, sometimes it would land on a regular meeting night and that would be canceled. If it landed on a Wednesday we had 3 nights straight though. Ugh.

Thanks for making me feel like less of a jerk. You'd think after 11 years, I'd be over it. I will say, I have accepted it, but until recently, I've chosen to ignore it. It's only recently I've started to process my feelings. I never even made contact with another ex-JW until about a year ago. Now that I'm done keeping secrets, I have a lot to deal with. Now that I'm a mom, I find this whole situation even more repulsive.
Mr. Flipper - I'm sorry to hear about your daughters' behavior. My daughter is only 17 months, and honestly I have to agree that there is no amount of wrong she could do to me that I would never be able to forgive. As a parent, it's my duty to love her unconditionally. I think that's part of the reason why I am so upset with my own parents. There are people on death row who have parents that love them. All I did was stick up for myself. I guess I have a double standard on the issue. In my mind, I assume they'd never leave the JWs. They'd only try to be in contact with me if it were allowed by the GB. In that sense, I think I'd rather just not deal with it. "New Light" is not going to sweep their actions under the rug for me. If my sister ever reached out to me, I'd be more responsive. If she were still in the JWs, it would be very difficult for me though.
Hortensia, Gopher & Chaserious - Thanks for sharing your experiences. Just knowing I'm not alone makes a big difference. It's so sad to see how this BS has impacted so many families. It needs to stop.

So, I'm sitting here, being pissed about my family. Both of my parents and my only sister are JWs. I haven't had a relationship with them since they I left in 2002.(Abusive husband, no legal grounds for leaving etc etc. You can read the whole story in my intro post.)
I'm wondering: Am I wrong to be personally pissed at them for the choices they have made? It's so easy to blame the JW ORG for making them shun me. But really, WTF? Everyone has free will. They have CHOSEN to stay and follow this BS. They choose to shun me. They decided to follow this path.I don't buy the whole "they made me do it" philosophy. In fact, if the ORG decided to change their shunning policy & they tried to contact me, I think I'd tell them to stick it up their asses. As long as they are part of this cruel organization, I don't want them around. They have wronged me in so many ways.
Tell me the truth... Am I just a jerk? Is anybody else pissed like me?

the other side of disfellowshipping
by nowwhat? inpersonally i hate it when you come face to face with someone disfellowshiped and you can't do a simple acknowledgement or greeting.
they are obviously making an effort to be there to be reinstated.
as i recall back in the 1970's they did allow this but what is always the case some took advantage of this provision and in engaged in full blown conversations.

The huge impact the JWs have out in their door knocking --- May 15, 2013
by RayPublisher inthe may 15, 2013 washtowel has a cute little piece of artwork about what an impact they make out in serve-us.
i thought some captions might help make it clearer!.

So, basically they are saying: "We know door knocking is an antiquated and ineffective way to spread our message, but keep doing it." If anything, I think the thought of having to go do the door-to-door keeps otherwise interested people away. I think they just need a way to keep people busy so they don't start thinkinig for themselves.

What are the things you dislike most about JW's?
by Chariklo intop of my list has to be hypocrisy.
it runs right through, from elders downwards.
the literature and the gb are bad enough, but the bit that touches ordinary people, householders, students and ordinary rank and file is the false goodness that they put on like a raincoat.

2 words: CONDITIONAL LOVE. It's the only thing they know. Even between parents and children. I grew up knowing I would only be loved if I follow the rules It's very sad.
