Field Service Reports Count More than Showing Love - Ray Franz CF Book
by flipper ini've always suspected this was the wt society's view when i was in the jehovah's witness organization - but never knew the head of the writing committee karl adams had written a letter to nathan knorr ( then wt president ) recommending a change regarding reporting field service time as it wrongly emphasized jw members being seen as mainly being approved due to field service statistics - instead of emphasizing christian qualities of love, kindness, peace, etc.. karl adams had been personally handpicked by nathan knorr to be the head of the writing department.
in 1971 he wrote a letter to knorr which he wanted shared with the entire governing body as well .
i'll share the main parts of that letter.. on pg.

@Dozy You are 100% correct about JW being like an MLM. I felt weird and uncomfortable when I first realized this. And I hate fs. Counting time is stupid. If all I have to do is turn in time to be righteous, why do I need to go out at all. I'll just put 10 hours, 6 mags, and 2 rv on my slip at the end of the month and leave it at that. -

That was disturbing. The worst part is that my family will fawn and go gaga over this crap. This is getting to be too much. -

The Fear mongering of this weeks WT study!
by stuckinarut2 inhave you all read this weeks study article?.
oh my word it is full of fear inducing tactics....doom and gloom outlooks.... anxiety inducing methods to develop absolute control over witnesses and cripple them in any attempt to think for themselves!.
(notice i am saying "themselves" rather than "ourselves"?!

I never felt more horrified and stupid than at the meeting this past Sunday. One comment at the watchtower study on the basement pic was that "we needed to get to know each and every one of our brothers and sisters individually because we won't know how long we'll be together in the basement." I couldn't help but shake my head at that one. I feel embarrassed for my family for buying into this nonsense. -

Why are JW talks & publications never uplifting?
by thedepressedsoul ini was sitting at the meeting the other night and for the first time it hit, jw talks or magazines are never uplifting!
i rarely, if ever hear a talk or read a magazines and have it give nothing but praise to jehovahs servants or just praise jehovah and jesus throughout it.
they never just a read through the bible or just a bible story explained or told.

It really is depressing that there isn't more of a discussion at the meetings. If something in the watchtower is confusing, why shouldn't we be able to get clarification right there at the meeting? Why can't there be an actual discussion instead of a question/answer.. I ask the question and you answer from the paragraph. What really is the point of the meeting then except for further indoctrination? So much importance is placed on meeting attendance but actual study is personal. Well, what if during my personal study, I come across a point that a healthy discussion would help to make clearer? Isn't that how the bible students started in the first place? A group of like minded individuals coming together to actually read and discuss the scriptures. Where a person's thoughts were considered, weighed, and commented upon without fear of repercussion?
My how far the religion has strayed from it's roots. Even the apostles were encouraged by Jesus to ask him questions and they sure were not afraid to do so. Even Abraham was allowed to question God himself why he wanted to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.

Q-tips and Coffee Filters helped me learn TTATT
by RedPillPopper inwell they didn't fully teach me ttatt but helped me on the way.............. first thing i do in the morning after waking up is grinding some nice coffee beans and getting the brew started while i take a hot shower.
after the shower i like to clean out all the nasty wax out of my ears with a q-tip (or cotton swab for those not familiar with that term).. while cleaning out my ears i would think about how nice it is we have things like q-tips and coffee filters that make life more enjoyable but at the same time realize that somebody somewhere is in a factory making these.. i can't imagine a child saying "when i grow up i want to work in a factory making coffee filters".
the people who end up really doing that as adults did not set that to be a life goal.

In modern society, most do not have the skills to live off the land. Hardly anyone knows how to grow their own food or knows how to butcher animals. I know many brothers and sisters who are dainty. They need a daily shower and don't like to get "dirty". Well, what do they think it's going to be like without people with the know how to make modern society function? We really will need all those rules from the OT at that point. Gotta go bathroom? Go walk 1/2 mile outside of your encampment with your shovel to dig a hole. Then make sure to cover over it with soil properly!! -

Will the GB now accept Higher Learning???
by 7Starz inreported in many news outlets today including the wall street journal: president obama is pushing for the first two years of a community college to be included in the normal education of the country's children.
the education law currently has a free education from k-12 and obama now wants to include a 2 year community college degree for free (well the tax payers will pick up the tab).
so basically k-12 and a 2 year college associates degree.. if this becomes law, will the gb change their view on higher education and say:.

I doubt that they would change their education stance soon after condemning it so heartily. Depending on where you live, higher education is a practical necessity. Where I'm from, you can't even get in the door of a good company without a degree or lots of experience. So for young adults, without that degree, you're stuck working a low wage job. I wonder if the free 2 year community college would apply to adults who never completed a degree? If it goes through I wouldn't mind taking advantage of this myself! -

I think that wearing the logo can be considered as a form of idol worship. I mean, you're not even supposed to wear clothes that display the brand name so how can wearing the brand of your religion NOT be considered idol worship. -

From 1 to 10, how do you rate the value of the Internet in your awakening?
by Hidden-Window inas we all know, the internet is a real game-changer in allowing us to know the truth about the watch tower and its history.
i always had doubts and it was the internet that presented me with the ever-growing number of individuals who were going through a similar struggle.. i give the internet a 9 in my awakening.
what about you?.

10.
I had no inkling of anything wrong with the WTS. I believed my dad when he said the brouhaha over 1975 was just the brothers and sisters going ahead of the org. I was full on lock step with the 1995 generation teaching change. I was just apathetic because the meetings were boring and I hated field service. Then I started trying to get KMs online, which brought me to this site. I knew I was getting the KMs from an apostate site but I didn't care. One day, I actually started reading some posts. Then read more stuff on other sites. Eye opening.

This brings to mind what my 9 year old son said this past Friday while watching Guardians of the Galaxy... "Daddy, this movie is really violent!" My reply.. "Well, if you don't want to watch, you can go outside." Guess who stayed to finish the movie. It honestly was quite shocking. This came from a kid who loves watching little fuzzy animals get beat on in Pokemon and watching and playing light saber battles in Star Wars. I've got to intiate some advanced de-indoctrination techniques on the child before it starts getting worse.
