Are we giving the Watchtower more power than it deserves?
by willowstreet injust recently, npy and myself were at a party and the subject came up as to how we knew six.
i found myself hesitate to explain that our connection was that we had all been jehovah's witnesses.. after i told them...it was no big deal.
they all explained how they had been penecostal and catholic and they had their abusive stories to tell... we were all the same.. .

darn it!
by willowstreet ini remember my best friend when i was a witness was completly obsessed with words, such as darn, shoot, heck, etc..... i remember her telling her daughter not to say "birth day" but call it "birth date".
she wouldn't say, "christmas break' but would call it "winter break".
she would lie to get a free hotel night, but she would not say "darn"...... so petty and hypocritical.. did anyone else know witnesses that went over board with words like my friend?.

What's the most hypocritical thing(s) you've ever seen a JW do?
by Steve Lowry inup high on my list has to be when a jw co-worker named john fitzgerald tore into me one morning (when i was coming in late for work) for grabbing a quick piece of cake from the lunch room.
turns out, someone in this small little office had brought in the remainder of their birthday cake for folks at work to finish up eating.
john was older than i and a ministerial servant (ooh) and felt it his responsibility to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Unbelievable experiences at assemblies or conventions
by Dimples inwhat experience at an assembly or convention caused you to raise your eyebrows in disbelief?.
one that comes to mind is a 5 year old conducting several bible studies.
wasn't it hard enough for an adult to get a bible study?

official website re: shunning family members?
by willowstreet ini am trying to help a df'd friend who is being shunned by her family.. i had told her about the frequently asked questions on the official website of jw's, that it had written that the watchtower does not shun family members.. having a hard time finding that...didn't it used to be there?
have they changed ?
