I live in nyc.I'm interested.I also know a few who have come out of the borg recently who would also probably be interested.

PREDICTION:
by ros inas we see a rising tide of problems confronting the new watchtower leadership, and a tidal wave swelling on the horizon, some interesting rumours are starting to trickle out.
we are waiting to see what the fallout will be following the dateline expose' on pedophilia cover-ups, which will undoubtedly lead to exposing the watchtower's policy to cover up other criminal behavior so as to not "bring reproach on jehovah's name.
" rumour is that the factions at headquarters are becoming increasingly divided.

Maximus,
I,ve got information on a health insurance scam and the names of prominent ones involved within the org.I can tell you that a number of prominent bros here in NYC were involved.the Pres. was a prominent elder who gave grand sounding talks at all of our circuit assemblies. The VP was a sub CO who always gave eloquent sounding talks at the circuit assembly about not being materialistic. This same person along with the Pres of the company stole money from the company for their own use and was having a 1.2 million dollar house being built in Roslyn NY a ritzy area when they were caught by the Gov't. This happened in 1998-99.But there are indications that higher ups at hq were also involved in this whole scam.
Maximus are you familiar with this case?I heard the two bros admitted to stealing half a mil, but from what I've found out they are not in jail. And they should be.Word is that a number of other bros involved lost their homes when the govt stepped in. -

Read God's Word the Holy Bible Daily
by Nicodemus infor decades now, those words have appeared atop one of the watchtower societys buildings in new york city.. that exhortation may never have been more needed by jehovahs people themselves than it is today.
recent posts have asked good questions regarding what can or will sustain individual jehovahs witnesses who do truly love god, but who may be disheartened by various things they have seen in the organization.. it is clear to me that many witnesses spend far more time reading the societys publications than gods word itself.
one reason sometimes given is that the preparation and research has already been done for you, thus making it easier.

I'm just expressing my agreement with the comments in this thread about the wt publications. Its true that so much focus was placed on reading the publications. As mentioned though, we never needed them. When I started reading the Bible itself, I also learned how dishonest the borg always has been with the scriptures. The Bible is all inclusive. It says what it has to say w/o the help of some wt publications.
And in addition to that Proverbs 30:5,6 says:"Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.DO NOT ADD TO HIS WORDS, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar."
Wt publications have always added to God s word, the very thing he said NOT to do.
The wts has been proved to be a liar and they will pay for it. Let them burn for what they have done.

INSTINCT
by silentlambs ini recently watched a movie called instinct.
it starred anthony hopkins and told the story about a man who went to the wild to live with the gorillas.
while the premise may have seemed farfetched, the movie offered an insight i had not thought of till i saw how the story was told.

Claudia,
Yes, I remember that well.I mentioned it in my reply above and it was called "The Return Of The Archons".My brother and I always talk about this episode too in comparing it to the wts.It has everything in it that reminds us of the wts: Assimilation into "the body" as you mentioned, strange rituals such as "festival" that everyone is supposed to take part in, cowards who know the truth about Landru but are afraid to stand up for what is right because they fear Landru's supposed power.
Excellent example of the fraudulent wts.

As you mentioned, one of the biggest references from Star Trek has to do with the Borg.On the old h20 board you would have also seen references to the Society such as "Borganization".
This is also because the Borg race in Star Trek wanted to assimilate all other races. The Borg also claimed that they were the most perfect race and that all others were inferior. The Borg also allowed no independent thought among its members. All Borg were tied into one main
leader and their thoughts could be read by all members. If by some chance a borg started thinking independently(as a couple of well thought out episodes portrayed), they would be subject to being "adjusted" or "deactivated".
Sound familiar?
Personally I thought the Borg episodes were a good example of what all authoritarian religious organizations do to people, and an especially good example of the WTS.
There were a number of episodes from all four Star Trek series which portrayed similar things about authoritarian organizations, religious and political and believe me you can see the WTS in all of them.
Check out "Return Of The Archons" from the first series and "The Masterpiece Society" from TNG. Very interesting.
I would say that the above are some reasons why there are so many references to Star Trek.

Prevalence of JW Suicides - Real or Imagined?
by AMNESIAN inin one or two recent threads i've seen reference to the possibility of a rising number of jw suicides being another of the organization's very dark realities about which it is vigilant in keeping concealed from its pub populace.
is there anyone reasonably informed regarding this?
is there reason to suppose the incidence ratio among jws is any higher than among any peoples/religion?

From the Jamaica New York City area:
A Young brother with a pregnant wife committed suicide because he had been dfed and his numerous pleas for reinstatement went ignored. The so-called elders kept telling him that "he needed more time" but never any further explanation. Finally his pregnant wife who was due to have the baby any day at that time went to the so-called elders herself and asked them what he needed more time for.The answer was that "he just needed more time" and again no further explanation. She herself was already disgusted as her husband was regularly attending the meetings to try and be reinstated. After this final plea for reinstatement, he went home and shot himself. He was depressed over continually being rejected by the so-called elders. This happened about one and a half years ago.It is well known here in the Jamaica area.
Another case: A CO who served in this area had gotten ill.Went out of CO work for awhile.Got better.returned to CO work and shortly thereafter hung himself.Seems the borg has done their best to try and keep this one under wraps. But it happened and is known.

Alan,
Thanks for the information in this thread about drunk Rutherford. These are really interesting details to know and you know I'll be one of the first ones to get the books on this when they come out.
Btw, for anyone who disagrees that Rutherfords character was as bad as presented here in this thread, my Mother was at the very convention where drunk Rutherford made his famous comment that 'Women were a hank of hair'. My father who is deceased, and my Mother talked about that comment many times over the years.
So hows that for God's anointed? He was probably drunk from Canadian booze when he said it.The lush.
So you Rutherford sympathizers on this thread, how do you defend your boy da judge making a comment that publicly demeans women in front of thousands of people in what is supposed to be some holy gathering of God's only chosen people? The Bible as well as your hypocritical organization contains written information that goes against demeaning women in any way and you know that.
YOU CAN'T DEFEND IT!
The fact is that lush Rutherford was a person who treated women as lowlifes, he was a drunk and a lawbreaker and all the other things mentioned in this thread.Alan doesn't need to present you with written proof here because as he mentioned it will be coming out by other authors. Just 'WAIT ON JEHOVAH ' like he said and you'll get your proof. As to Rutherfords character, I have my proof from my own Mother and Father.Anyone who would make that kind of comment about women and especially in front of thousands of people in what is claimed to be some type of holy assembly of Gods only chosen people, is first of all not backed up by God anyway.Rutherford and the borg never were backed by God.And lastly, the booze that he guzzled served as oil which loosened whatever screws were in his crooked head holding it together.
