i saw this website and decided to see if i could get another opinion on this matter.
during the course of my business, i have met and become friends with a troubled woman who was born into a jw family.

i posted something similar on a different thread but it was blissfully ignored and i really think its worth a discussion.
leolola touched on this in another thread and that is of the changes to alot of the eschatological beliefs of the wbts.
a) 1935- no longer cut off for fds .
jefferywhat,
You are absolutley right. Excellent post. These changes need to continue to be made known in every way possible.
I talk about these changes to people all the time.
watchtower is biggest scam ever pulled on this planet.

Metsman,
I was born into the watchtower society. My Father served as an elder for many years and so did I .
Your comments about how elders treat people are delusional.

it broke my heart to read about someone having to paying court fee's after wining a sexual abuse case against the wtbts.
she ended up winning 5,000 dollars but has to pay 220000 dollars in court feee to wtbts and for her lawyer.
crazy!.
This is disgusting!
This situation compounds the proof that there is no such thing as a "jehovah god", and this organization
known as the watchtower MUST be obliterated!

sorry no offense but why do some ex-witnesses here join another group....we have a muslim {muhamed was given a koran by an angel in a cave?
}....we have some baptists etc......i researched the bible and found there are 1,000's of gospels not part of the bible...so what's the deal...."fool me once shame on you..fool me twice shame on me" or do you have a reason for continued belief in religion...i really wan't to know since iam agnostic and don't believe in god or evolution????
?
Hey jelcat,
True. if a person chooses to believe in god, thats their choice. If thats what makes them happy.
But, in response to your example, according to religion, god didn't just "paint" or "create", but god also supposedly wrote
a message outlining the purpose of his/her/its creation in sacred books such as the bible or the Koran or whatever sacred book
religious people believe in so that all could see the message. So, respectfully, I don't see how your example adds up.
But the points I made earlier were made as more of a general response to the question of the existence of god.
There simply is no honest, objective proof of the existence of some ethereal god who is out there somewhere or looking down from some place called heaven, as promulgated by religion.
But I agree with you that people are free to believe, or not believe, whatever they want to.

To reneeisorym,
I respect your opinion, but your example is the same type of non-sequitor that religion uses to indoctrinate people with the god concept.
First of all, you can find out who the gardener is, and see him/her, if you really want to. If not, there are plenty of other gardeners who are constantly seen doing the same work. So even if you didn't find that particular gardener, you have living examples of other gardeners who you can see, hear, feel, smell (if you if you got close enough to them), and I won't get into tasting. You can prove the existence of the gardener.
But you still can't prove the existence of god. You do not have living examples of other gods that you have seen doing some creating, so you can't even rationally assume the existence of the god who supposedly created this planet by using examples of other gods doing the same thing. Because such examples don't exist.
I am not trying to insult you, but your example is a non-sequitor: 'It does not logically follow', my points about the non-existence of god, that preceeded it.

I don't mean to offend anyone here, but as for the comments about the existence or non-existence of god: The burden of proof
falls on those who claim that god exists, to prove his/her/its existence. The burden of proof does not fall on those who don't believe in god, to prove that god doesn't exist.
Honestly, when you deal with objective reality, claims of god and of so-called inspired books such as the bible, are hoaxes.
There is no one who has ever proven that they have seen god, heard god, felt god, smelled god, and forget about "tasting god and seeing that he is good" as we were taught in the borg. Therefore, there is no proof that some ethereal god out in space or the "heavens" exists.
Additionally, anyone can write a book, or put a collection of writings together and claim it is from god and/or inspired. There is no proof that any books or collections of writings are from some god.
I don't mean to offend anyone here, but honesty is stronger than something that a person wants to make his/her truth.

for quite some time i have been tossing around the idea that there has to be a question out there, a question that can cut straight to the heart of what it means to question the watchtower.
last night while doing some mindless tasks i think that question may have come to me.
the question is: .
Good one Drew.
I challenge the jdumbs when I see them in 'streetwork', or when they come to my door.
I'm going to use your question. I know it will throw their circuits off.
Thanks.

for me - rarely would be the correct word.
i don't miss the indoctrination.
i don't miss the wasted time in service.
No.

i would like to give the full details of my leaving the jw's, but i don't have a lot of time at this moment.
basically i was raised in the organization and it drove me pretty insane bacause my father was an elder, mother a pioneer, sister a bethelite, etc.
so, i did the whole thing for a long time.
Welcome Doc,
I had a similar experience with my ex-wife who was a pioneer when I stopped going to the meetings.
I was an elder.
If you feel I can assist you in any way, feel free to ask.
