in the late 1960s, i became a jw.

there was a sense of intellectual freedom and more openness to discuss various spiritual and even some social topics.

there was reliance on watch tower literature as an authority, but still the soiciety seem to confine its concerns and left the rest up to individual jws to decide.

I grew up with Kevin Swan.I know his whole family.He is from the Jamaica NY area.We went to the same kingdom hall.He originates from Jamaica Cong.And I can tell you he is definitely right-wing WT.BTW his father who was an elder for many years was deleted a few years back because the youngest son got into a lot of immorality,impregnated two young sisters, and Kevins father who was the PO tried to cover it up and keep his son from getting disciplined.So he was removed and then ran to another cong where he knew his good old boy network would appoint him again.He was reappointed. GODS SPIRIT IN ACTION EH!

An e mail to Kingdom Halls

i did a search on the term kingdom halls.

i found three that had e mail addresses, so i sent them information regarding the un situation.

my final statement was: "if you think i am making this up, send me an e mail, and i will give you the details.

Just to comment on the talk coordinating thing thats being mentioned:
I was the talk coordinator in my cong from about 1992-1997.I remember getting instructions to monitor the speaker and make sure he stuck close to the outline. I just didn't do it. I thought it was ridiculous. I personally just wanted to hear good Bible-based info presented in an interesting way.When I myself gave public talks, I did not always stick to the ouitline.If I felt that it was boring, I did what I could to make it interesting.I remember talk # 94 was one of the special talks.I changed the whole outline from what the society had written. The cong.loved it. The rest of the elders didn't even know what was on the outline because they were too lazy to check it out.
From the comments above its shows that this direction to monitor speakers was enforced in some places and in others it wasn't.Typical of the borg.More evidence that God never was, is not, and never will be behind the borg.

Those are all excellent points.There is definitely a siege mentality.
Isn't it interesting how the borg claims to have God behind it, but yet they are afraid of books and websites? Well I guess God has no power to "protect" them, so he has directed them to shun those who read these things.:) :)
I also read Schnell's book. He does seem to whine, but I thought it was enlightening as to the tactics used by the borg such as sending people into certain areas to purposely get "persecution" started up so they can make themselves look like those Jesus was talking about.
I also found it interesting as to the tactics they will use to get people out of the organization when they want to reinvent things even if it means losing thousands of people.I thought Schnell described this very well. And it seems they use the same tactics today but maybe slightly different.

I am sorry to hear of what you went through.I can relate because a close relative of mine (young girl) was molested 3 times by a so-called brother and the society covered it up.In my own case I dealt with many higher-ups at Bethel and so I know how they can be.

Am I crazy or what!

most of you are are aware that i sent out a letter to friends and family exposing the organizations association with the un.. since that time there have been several very important developments including wtbs dissacociating themselves from the un.. because of this i felt i had to get this new information out to everyone i had writen the origional letter to.. i sent this update to out of town friends and family.i encluded a copy of the un letter announcing wt's dissacociation and the two guardian articles.. my plan met with a problem.i knew my local po had warned everyone not to read anything else from me.i knew he would do this so i even sent him a letter along with the rest to show that i stand behind what i wrote and i'm not afraid of him.. today i did the only thing i could think of,i wrote a new letter to the po.. here it is,.

dear po 10-16-01. circumstances have changed since my last letter to you and others.. i am honor bound to update you and them of these changes.

im sure that youve told everyone not to open anything from me so thats why i am writing to you only.. the information i sent earlier was accurate and true at the time but as i stated earlier things have changed.. enclosed please find an official copy of the october 11th 2001 letter announcing the termination of the wtbs association with the united nations.

No you're not crazy. I'm doing the same thing. Since I was an elder I still have a lot of addresses and I'm sending out the UN information to all Jdubs I know here in my hometown and else where. I'm confident that at least some of them will realize the fallacy of the WTS and either weaken in their resolve to stay or just plain leave.
Lets remember how successful BX was with CCI mailings.

A New Breed Of JW Emerging?

is there a new breed of jw emerging, i wonder?.

i know that there are lots of real brainwashed dubs around who see demons behind every car boot sale item and who scuttle off to the elders with every bit of tittle-tattle imaginable, but, i think that there is a new type of dub who quietly does just as he / she pleases.. this is what i think: many of the long-serving jw's who have seen the 1975 failure and the 1914 generation change are now approaching old age with something of a jaundiced eye, and are choosing to do their own thing in their remaining years.

in conversations i am picking up it seems that the elders are being regarded somewhat derisively by many jw's.

I agree with you on this. I have had conversations recently with dubs who have told me that the things written by the society are not all correct and that whatever they don't agree with they just won't follow.Also I know a 30 something year old sister who is not married and has sex with another brother whenever she can.She feels no need to go to the elders and doesn't trust them anyway so she just does what she wants to. She still attends all 5 meetings and goes out in field service. I also know at least 3 brothers who have told me that they will never get involved with a j-dub sister.They have said that when they marry it will be someone who is not a witness.

Speaking out against the wt has also cost me my marriage and friends and so I can personally vouch for what both BX and Norm are saying to you.Its true.So the things that BX told the NGO official were valid and necessary.
