I asked about the Society's airplane, not certain if it was this particular one or not, and I was told it was donated. There are JW's that are pilots with airplanes in Alaska and they don't all fly tin cans. Last stat I read was 1 in 36 Alaskan adults have a pilots license.

I know this is a serious thread: child endangerment. I couldn't help LMAO while reading the first part though. The church's name was nearly perfect. It missed a word for it's true mission.

"three northern California Counties"
Good Idea
Here's some second hand conversation, for what it's worth.....
My sister, who lives north just outside of San Francisco, & I were talking about her trying to relocate for new employment(she works for the Calif. schools system & was laid off with the other thousands). She asked our cousin in far northern Calif. about jobs & good places to raise a family. He told her DO NOT move any farther north. He has worked his way up over the years to a supervisory position in Parole. His insiders knowledge was that the trend is to "ship all the pedos to the hills", which is the more remote North CA. He related it scares him the percentage of pedos in the population compared to other areas.
I'd wager the percentage may be higher in the KH's also. These law firms may have found their happy hunting grounds.

Will look for this one to read. Read his books about hiking AP trail and traveling across U.S., the latter made mention of JW's. Thanks for suggesting it, I enjoy his writing style.

Having children ??? did the Watchtower have an affect on your decisions ???
by run dont walk ini remember growing up and thinking that there was no way i would have kids ......... why ???
....... because i did not want to raise them the way i was raised, in the borg.
i went through hell, why put a defenceless child through that.

Not for long, and that was in 1975. The majority of JW's I've observed don't wait until it's too late to have children. As was mentioned, there are some who wait.
In the seventies, everyone that could have children were producing families of two to six children, in my region. It was not just the young couples either, women in their 30's & 40's were having "second families" of two or three more children. I can name at least three couples who came from long time(10yrs+) Bethel or missionary work to the town I lived in, when they hit 40 yrs old, to have children. They were all successful with one or two children per couple. I'll add this was no-show Apocalypse late seventies. I noticed the same reproductive rate at all the assemblies. Yep, three pub. minimum for all car groups. One to watch the six kids in the back.
I am convinced the reason JW stats maintained for all these years, in industrialized countries, is due to all the children/grandchildren that continued with the JW tradition.

I love it! C.S. Lewis on psychology of religion meets a touch of Beatrix Potter storytelling styles. Both are favorite authors.(B. Potter for four generations of children now.) I printed this out to pass around. Thanks.

JWs Advertising on TV now
by eisenstein inwe were just watching er rerun episodes back to back...after the second episode finished chachasmum and i saw an advertisement for the jws.
it started out showing a teenage girl on the computer like she was in a chat room...and it was showing her write love notes to someone whom she thought might be a teenage boy...and a voice over said something like...parents protect your children...then it showed an old, fat man with a bottle of beer, sitting back typing on the computer...then all of a sudden it said, "teach your children knowledge, wisdom and thinking ability"...it caught my ear and i looked closer at the bottom of the screen it read: christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses...and gave a 1-800 number.
looks like they are stealing the mormons' pitch.

My daughter saw that commercial a couple of weeks ago. We were surprised by their public whitewash efforts, also.

Ban Babycenter.com-- they behave like JWs
by blacksheep inokay, i've been banned/shunned from a website called "babycenter.com".
i've been posting to their debate boards ever since my first child was born three years ago.
in one particular site, they behave very much like jw's (it's a breastfeeding board).
-
Wren
Blacksheep, there's a good chance some of the breastfeeding true believers will mellow after their milk dries up for the last time.
I'll admit to taking it too serious way back in the day. What you said about how they think they can save the world is exactly what my boss said a couple years ago when I did a stint as a WIC certifier. She was a certified consultant in breastfeeding(yes, there is such a thing). She had to attend the yearly breastfeeding seminars taught by the experts. She joked about how they had the attitude that breastfeeding will cure all & save the world in general.
That's harsh that you were banned. Fanatics can be really narrow minded.

If You Could Have Been An Elder, What Would YOU Have Done Differently?
by minimus inat times, every person has complained about the elders not doing this or that.
everyone had a pet peeve.
if you could have made a change in something, what would you have done to make the congregation a better, happier place?
-
Wren
Looking back, I have one pet peeve about a certain small group of elders. I only met one of them but he obviously learned it from someone else. It is the bible thumping, fanatical, want to be orators policing the blood issue. Their lies need to be gagged by any means because of their influence.
At first I understood not taking blood could kill me but it's my duty be a martyr. If the law intervened, I felt limited to fight it for myself or children. Along comes the blood police elder and convinces ignorant JW's that there is NOT one lethal situation that requires blood. It's scientifically impossible to die because of lack of blood. Tubes must be ripped out of hospital JW patients & start the plans for kidnapping. Bring on the lawsuits.
I guess the point is imo a majority of JWs would accept & not feel as much guilt taking blood in a critical situation by threat of or real court order. A militant few elders can set up much potential & real damage by taking Wt dogma, lying & running with it.

The Third World Factor/Watchtower
by metatron inin relation to the watchtower's decline, in money and doctrine, the third world factor.
rarely is brought up.
originally, witnesses were mostly american and european but.

It seems like all that's left leading WT is the legal dept. and the bean counters. Is maintaining the stats the priority now?
Keep the numbers up with third world converts. This keeps the active members comfortable in developed nations which maintains the money flow.
I'm guessing an increasingly heavier focus maintaining the statistics in the future by:
The third world six-month-study-and-your-in converts but little $ spent there. In developed nations: Pushing big magazine routes. Have studys which last for years, counting time on studys with inactive ones until they are active, whenever that may be. Spend months gathering up seat takers for the memorial. Have no limit on family studies hrs. Set up 10 hour a month free for any creative billboard witnessing(think Christmas outside decorations but using a WT & Awakes display. My aunt actually pulled this stunt).
This trend started few years ago, it would not surprise me if it continues. (edited: can't form a sentence)
