  What if the U.N doesn't find anything in Iraq?

  it hit me a few days ago.

  what happens if the u.n. searchs iraq and they find nothing?

  i mean it's kind of scary to think what will happen to bush's job approval rating if that happens.

  What's REALLY funny is, if you trace back Muslim extremism, you'll find it's roots lie in Saudi Arabia.

  Nothing in the Koran talks about women as objects to be traded or bartered with. Managing to get a death sentance for adultery, according to the Koran, is near impossible (it requires 4 male witnesses to the act). etc.

  The extremist form of Islam, where women are not allowed to speak in the presence of a man and must where face concealing garments all day, originated and is contuining out from Saudi Arabia (the movement is called Wahabism, and it's roots lie in the bedoin originations of the land's current inhabitants).

  Of course, that these dictators would oppress their people anyway using whatever religion the people would follow shouldn't be overlooked (a rose by any other name, and all). It's just an interesting bit of trivia.

  You seem to be guiding it, but what is your ultimate point?

  (In any case, I'm having frightening flashbacks to talks explaining the difference between agape and hmmm...can't recall...the other ones.))

  Your post implies that we need to consider the benefits of the WTBTS's policies, regardless of their cost.

  Identical to saying we should just thank the Nazis for their research, and just remember the 'useful' information they brought the world instead of their evils.

  Obviously, this is mistaken. There is a line towards evil that, once crossed, invalidates ANYTHING else done by the party in question.

  the first time i came on jwd, it was in chat.

  wendy (mommy was there) and even tho i had just left the borg, i was still very religious.

  i came off rather abrasive to say the least.... i have pissed off a lot of people here, and made an ass out of myself more than a time or two.

  In fact, that's a good recommendation to ALL the ladies out there whose husband was a JW. Make sure you remind him now and then what he can't get if you go back to JW-hood!

  Indeed, it's probably a good idea for EVERY wife out there to, you know, keep up these 'preventative measures'.

  Wouldn't want any guys going back to the hall, now would we?

  That's certainly the only reason *I* would suggest such a thing...

  I've heard the first one before, in relation to other religions (baptists, et al).

  Couple obvious problems with it:

  1) WHY would this make only the hypocrites leave?
  a) Are you to trust the gunman that he will only shoot those WILLING to 'take a bullet for jesus' (the more common version)?
  b) Even if such was true - WHY would you be willing to sit there and be shot because a gunman says just sitting in the line of fire being shot at was being shot 'for jesus'?
  c) Even if this gunman really WAS only going to shoot those willing to 'take a bullet for christ' (another popular version), and he really WAS on a mission of christian persecution such that, arguably, taking a bullet from him WOULD be taking it 'for christ', WHY WOULD YOU THINK GOD WOULD SPARE YOU!?! There are NO modern accounts of god sparing his people from gunfire by their faith alone!!

  2) It's a little too close to the (proclaimed from the rooftops) fundie accounts of what happened at Columbine - where the shooters would ask students if they believed jesus was their saviour, and only shot those who said 'yes'.

  But, then, years in the bOrg has taught me very well how to repress problematic feelings.

  Weird, though... humans != vulcans.
